We’ve had a wonderful experience with Leport for the past 3 years with our two kids in first infant, then toddler, and finally primary classes.

LePort Montessori Irvine Spectrum is a vibrant Montessori community for the entire family. Join us when your child is young (as early as 3 months), and stay through Middle school, surrounded by educators who provide one consistent experience for your child, and a community of like-minded parents who embrace both excellent academics, and the opportunity for children to discover their interests, to enjoy learning, and to become independent, can-do young people.

My son was at Le Port for three years since he was 6 months old. After 3 years the schools management met with us and told us that they do not think our sons personality was compatible with the Montessori material. Not 3 months- 3 years! They expect children to be young adults which is completely antithetical to how a school should treat any child. They (the staff and management) do NOT want to bear any responsibility and are unable to put in the extra effort for children who might require a bit more care.To summarize- they care about making money and not the childs welfare.

We are extremely happy with the infant program at LePort Irvine Spectrum! The facility is immaculate and the teachers and staff are extremely professional. Our son is very advanced for his age due in large part because of the expert care and instruction he receives on a daily basis at LePort. He is allowed to follow his own feed/sleep schedule and he takes two naps a day at school. Plus, he is an only child so he LOVES interacting with the other children - and it is amazing to watch! When I pick him up at the end of the day after 9 hours at school, he is very content and not irritable or over-tired. Before we moved to LePort, we had a full-time nanny working at our home. We definitely prefer the LePort setting with so much supervision and predictable, safe environment for our child. The only downside to putting a child in any infant program is that they pass around a cold or two pretty early on. However, our sons immune system is now much stronger and he hasnt been sick in a long time!

After much research, we decided to enroll our twin daughters at Leport Irvine Spectrum. I am very happy with the program, staff and pretty much everything about the school. The campus is beautiful. My children are thriving and learning so much. The teachers are very nurturing and patient. It is money well spent!!!. My husband and I are so happy we made the decision to enroll them at this Montessori school and we know time will keep proving to us that we made the right choice.

Our 7th grade son is now in his second year at LePort and the experience has been outstanding. The teachers are smart, kind, and committed to helping each child. They make learning entertaining and our son truly looks forward to going to school each day. The school even offers opportunities for after-school enrichment programs (our son participates in one re science). LePort keeps parents apprised of the child’s progress, both through regular conferences and report cards as well as through impromptu emails with highlights of the child’s accomplishments. The Irvine Spectrum campus is new, beautiful, and full of teaching technology in each classroom. But more important than the physical environment, the enthusiasm of the LePort staff for teaching and helping the students succeed is rare, refreshing, and impressive. We would strongly recommend LePort for an “A+” private school experience.

My oldest daughter transferred to LePort from an academically rigorous private school in Anaheim last year. The previous school was extremely challenging, which was fine, but my husband and I felt that we were doing most of the teaching rather than the school just to keep my daughter on track. Worst of all, our daughters confidence degraded year over year from Preschool to 5th grade. It was she who begged me to move her mid-year in 5th grade. After just the first week at LePort, my daughter transformed into someone complete new. She talked more, was happy to be at school, loved to learn again, interacted well with her classmates and was motivated to do whatever work thats given. Icing on the cake is that my husband and I no longer feel that we have to do the teaching to keep her from falling behind. My younger daughter moved over at the beginning of this school year and admits to loving this school so much more than her previous one as well. Comparatively, I believe LePort and their previous school are both equally rigorous in academics but the delivery method is just so much more effective at LePort. Last year, my girls had to be out of school for 3 weeks for a family emergency and the teachers were all incredibly supportive. While the teachers did give me extra work for the girls, per my request, they took ownership to catch the girls up on the missed material so that I could focus on the matter at hand. While I am grateful to the previous school for what they had to offer for my girls, LePort is certainly a better fit for them. I only wished that I had moved the girls sooner.

First, I want to say that LePort has some amazing tenured teachers. Specifically, Ms. Stacey (Infant Head Teacher), Ms. Monica (Toddler Head Teacher) and Ms. Priya (Toddler Head Teacher) are amazing women. The school is very lucky to have them. If you can get in to their classes, youll likely be shielded from the schools poor administration and have a really good experience. However, the schools administration is severely lacking. Dr. Eric Daniels is in no way equipped to be working with toddlers, much less leading a school for young children. If you look at his history on LinkedIn, his background is in working with college students - and its clear when speaking with him thats the case. He displays little empathy and doesnt know how to communicate with children in the slightest. They are not growing, individual minds to him. Leport has had trouble keeping heads of school for any length of time, and one must wonder why this is the case. Our daughter is extremely high functioning autistic but when she was attending LePort she had not yet been diagnosed. She had behavioral issues and we worked with a behavior specialist to try to resolve them. We had the specialist come to the school and observe how they interact with our daughter, and she provided them with advice. The school is expanding so teachers are moved around frequently - in 18 months, my daughter had 4 different assistant teachers in her Toddler room because they kept shuffling teachers around. This completely goes against the Montessori principle of having kids build a rapport with their teachers. Plus, they have high turn over. The result was that when my daughter moved up to a Primary room, she ended up with a very inexperienced teacher. Ms. Emma Jones had no AMI certification and only a year prior had been a floating assistant for the Infant room - she was not equipped to lead a classroom of 36 students 3-6 years old and yet thats what she was doing. On our daughters first week after moving to Ms. Joness class, she had 12+ incident reports. This was MASSIVE compared to what wed seen in the Toddler room. That week, I also observed signs of social bullying towards her from other children in the class in response to her behavioral issues. I reported my observation to the school and we were given 9 weeks to show improvement or leave. Meanwhile, we brought in a neuropsychologist to observe her in Ms. Joness room. The neuropsychologist recommended we withdraw her from the school regardless of how her behavior changes. Ms. Jones was not able to work with a child who is not neurotypical and Dr. Daniels was not equipped to work with the family of a child who is not neurotypical. We ended up following ex-LePort head of school to another Montessori school (Guidepost). Weve been there for 6 months and its been a night and day difference. The new school actually cares about the children and has worked with us to create an environment that works for our daughter until we can complete an IEP and figure out the most appropriate environment for her. They allow her to use a sensory necklace, which LePort would not allow. They allow her to have an aide, which LePort would not allow. They recognize that Maria Montessori believed in inclusion and in helping children blossom. There is a genuine love for children at the core of their very being there, while Dr. Daniels was completely alien to such a philosophy. The administration at LePort used to care about these things but they clearly dont any more. I directly attribute this shift in philosophy to Dr. Daniels taking over as head of school, and the obvious lack of oversight by upper administration. We thought Leport was the best Montessori education Southern California had to offer, and maybe it was at one time, but today it most definitely is not. While Leport has an amazing campus and some truly stellar tenured teachers, they also have an overabundance of very inexperienced teachers and assistants due to high turnover and expansion and worst of all, an incredibly poor head of school.

My daughter is in second grade and just started at LePort and we could not be happier. We came from another private school, but boy you dont see the flaws so much until your child is at LePort and see what your he/she was missing all along! My daughter no longer loved reading because of the nonsense that comes with rushing through AR tests. Now she participates in small literature circles where discussion is meaningful and comprehension can truly be assessed. The math program at her old school was cookie-cutter and did not build good number sense or conceptual understanding of basic concepts. Now she has a more in-depth understanding and actually enjoys math! She is excelling in every subject and is doing phenomenally better than at her old private school. Her teachers give up their lunch to sit with kids at lunch and talk with them about being a good person and important concepts that support character education. They dont have a million parties that take up 1/2 the day, or a fundraiser every week...instead they focus on educating the child and teaching them independence using the Montessori method (which is new to us but I am VERY pleased with it and see the successful results!). They have wonderful educational events for parents and really share with parents what their students do all day. You wont have any surprises and will feel very in the know about everything your child encounters during the school day. The class sizes are small and the focus is on each child as a separate individual. The curriculum is individualized. Many schools claim that by providing additional tutoring. THAT is not true individualized education like LePort offers. Trust me...we were at a highly-rated private school in AH, Orange County, and after being there for 4 years, I can say that LePort tops them in every possible area. I am so thankful for LePort, the teachers, staff, and administration. I did extensive research in finding the best private school when we left our old school for safety reasons and problems with their administration. My research brought us to LePort, but LePorts methods, administration, teachers, individualized education, and top-notch education is what will keep us here. My daughter is flourishing like never before, has a voice in the classroom, and feels loved and important as she grows more and more confident every day because LePort has helped her see her true potential. Well be with LePort all the way through!

I wanted to recognize April Miller for her work with the primary after care program. She has truly turned the after care program into a fun, educational and inspiring time for the kids. My son has experienced so many wonderful things in her program, including tasting lots of veggies (from which he has developed a favorite - radishes), sensory experiences, confidence building through dance and lessons in courtesy. She goes all-in, offering many activites that are lots of work for her - resulting in great experiences for the kids. Its clear shes not afraid to roll up her sleeves and work hard!My son sometimes has challenges with listening, and Ms. April is excellent at enforcing the classroom rules by explaining the rule and offering the option to follow it or move on to another activity. She has been great for my son in this regard. He often quotes her at home - love it! I always arrive in the midst of some very creative and fun activities and enjoy spending time observing, hearing the kids talk and discussing the activity with Ms. April. She always gives me a brief update on my sons after care activity, and proactively offers information to me that is helpful in understanding my sons mood at the end of a sometimes long day. I also look forward to her many posts on Facebook, and I can tell you his grandparents love them too! I love seeing the progress of all the kids, and its nice to be able to talk to my son at the end of each day about his activities with some insight from the FB posts.Ms. April is an excellent, creative, patient, hard working and inspiring teacher. It is evident with each interaction/observation that she loves children and enjoys her work. Many, many thanks to her for making the aftercare program a fantastic, fun, educational opportunity for my son. Our family loves and appreciates her!

My daughter attended this wonderful school for 4 years. It is, by far, the best school I could find in the OC. Prior to this school, I switched my daughter out of three other private schools, as they did not deliver what they promised. LePort has a combination of superior teachers, careful-selected courseware and outstanding facilities. The individualized attention resulted in my daughter realizing her full potential - she was happier, learned more and left the school testing 4 YEARS beyond her grade level on the state standardized tests.

Our family loved this school. Ms. Liz was my 2-year-olds teacher, and she (and the assistant teacher, Ms. Nazee) were so incredibly nurturing and patient. My son was not 100% potty trained (too scared to do #2s), but they helped/encouraged him to get there within his first month at school. This is an AMI school so the teachers are very precise and adhere very closely to the original Montessori method. They instill a love and excitement for learning, and obviously independence. I saw a difference in my son within the 1st month, and he had only gone to non-Montessori daycares prior to this. My infant started here at around 12 months- their infant rooms are the best Ive seen in the area. They are CLEAN, calm/peaceful, and the teachers are also very serene yet cheerful with the babies. They really give a lot of attention to each child. Ms. Rachel and her assistant teachers were so wonderful and loving, but from what Ive observed, ALL of the teachers in this school are really top-notch (got to meet them all at information sessions). It is expensive, but you are paying for a smaller student:teacher ratio and top quality teachers. The administration for this school is also really great. This building was brand-spanking new in September 2014, so yes, there were a few administrative mistakes here and there as they were starting up, but the admin staff is so energetic, helpful, and you can tell they get a lot of support from the top-down. They do a great job in making you feel part of the LePort community by holding family socials at the school and offering info sessions to help parents better understand what their kids are learning or how Montessori works. We had to leave b/c we moved across the country, but Ms Liz and my 2-year-olds class even wrote us a lovely letter after we moved! Miss them all.

PARENTS BEWARE - LePort requires that parents sign a form when enrolling your child that allows them to use your childs photos and videos in their marketing and advertising. There is no way out of this. From their FAQ:Photos are a key element we use to give prospective parents a glimpse into our programs, our classrooms, and the different activities LePort students are offered or get to experience. We select photos that showcase just how special a place LePort is and share them with prospective families in a variety of ways, from presentations we give at parent education events to direct mail pieces and sometimes post a few on our public Facebook pages. This is just an awful thing to do, especially for children, to be used as marketing tools. You have no control over what they do with your childs photos and videos. They will be on the internet and who knows where else, forever. If you are not okay with your child being used in this manner, I suggest looking for a different school.

Fabulous staff and top-notch education. Our daughter has grown up with a Montessori education through 2nd grade and transitioned to Leport Schools for 3rd to 8th. As we start our sixth year with this amazing, infectiously energetic and brilliant staff we are still astounded by their ability to raise the bar year after year. They truly care for each and every student in each and every subject. The way the curriculum is executed suits varying levels of learning abilities-there is no teaching to the middle here. Dont believe me? Go sit in on any class 5-8th and youll be impressed (and you will probably learn something too :-) ).

I enrolled my kid at this new location montessori school. I could see that they only care about money and not the child. Some of the teachers spend most of the time using their ipads while kids are playing around. I could see how some of the kids are left alone, especially after they are done using the restroom. You can watch that through the one way windows they have. The former principal was the best, but she quit. They hired a history teacher to be the principal. I assure you that he has no sense of managing such a school. He is not trained to administer such a school and be in such a position. You need someone who is very experienced to run such a a place. They are very picky about everything. They leave the kids out when it is very cold during monring hours and around noon time when it is too hot. On the top of that, they are very expensive. You do not get, in return, what you paid for. There are a lot of other good place where your kid can be at. I assure you what I just typed was based on my experience at this school and I had to withdraw my kid away from they school - which I was happy about it.
