This place is amazing! They offer many different approaches to self defense but the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu here is top notch! The technique is the best Ive experienced in KC. The people are very kind and professional. The kids classes are great! There are also two very good black belts that run classes. The offer judo, striking and more. As I have already said also great Jiu-Jitsu. I have decided to this place home.

This place is great, I didnt know what to expect going into it being that I was a absolute beginner. I have been going for about 2 months and am super happy that I worked up the nerve to give it a try. If you are just bored with your normal workout routine or if you want to become a national champion, they can accommodate your needs. The instructors have all types of championship metals they have won so you know they are legit and they have a real passion for teaching!

I have been training at Ground Zero for a little over a year and a half. The training I have received under black belts Derek Ruffin and Dennis Sanders has been top notch. On top of the great instruction my training partners have become like a second family. This is truly a great place for all levels to train. I can not say enough great things about Derek, Dennis, and Ground Zero as a whole.

Derek is an incredible teacher, whether it be grappling or striking. He has the ability to break down complex ideas and effectively communicate them to even the newest students. His credentials back him up too. He has been on the podium of multiple IBJJF events as well as fought MMA against some legends of the sport, such as Jeremy Horn. Derek brings his experience of being a police officer in KCMO to his self defense and grappling classes. If you want to learn from one of Kansas City’s best and well rounded self defense schools, Ground Zero is the place for you.

Awesome place to train! Derek Ruffin is a great guy and has lots of experience in a variety of different martial arts as well as self defense. His instructors are also very qualified and are patient as you learn the ropes. The people that train here treat each other like family and its been great getting to know everyone. Its been a blast and I would highly recommend trying it out!
