I love AKKA Westport, the whole family attends karate, self-defense and tai chi classes. Wonderful place, great workouts, and very motivational. Its really helped to build self-confidence and fitness for my children. Highly recommend!

I am a black belt at Akka Westport and if theres one thing that I can say it is that karate has changed my life! I started karate when I was six years old. I was a shy kid with low self esteem and a low confidence level. Over the four years Ive been taking karate I have made so many forever friends and have learned to higher my self esteem and confidence level. Mrs. Nanos is the head instructor at Akka. She is the most bad@$$ woman that Ive ever met. She will work you hard and the outcome will make you tired but you will feel amazing. There are five year olds and fifty year olds there. If karate isnt your thing there is also relaxing tai chi

My granddaughter has been going here for 9 years and the experience has been wonderful. I believe the school offers a well balanced variety of life skills and values that extend beyond martial arts. I think that is due to the instructors within the school and the personal relationships they build with each student. When you walk through the door you will automatically feel welcome. In my opinion, there is no better school to learn martial arts at.😁

Great cardio and a friendly community.

Strong and nurturing leaders who teach not only martial arts, but how to be a better person. This location has a particularly lively and family friendly community full of some of the nicest people youll ever meet. I thought I was just finally getting to try out martial arts and adding an exercise routine to my life, but it has come to mean much more. They also have a really excellent trial if youve ever been interested!

Ive been taking classes here for over a year, and AKKA has definitely exceeded my expectations. The instructors are strong, capable, caring women who genuinely want to help you learn and succeed. They will make you feel welcome from day one and never stop pushing you to be a better martial artist.

I really enjoy attending classes here. I came to class two years ago and Ive continue with 2 classes a week. The teaching approach is well rounded to include foundational and deeper exploration into techniques, the supporting theory, and lectures involving the philosophy behind the theory and practice of TaiChi. I feel Ive found the perfect place to understand and advance my practice of it.

My two sons have been students here for almost two years. Besides the high-quality content of the instruction, what we have most loved is the welcoming family environment, multi-cultural/ethnic makeup of the students and instructors, and the strong female leaders that drive the students to achieve their personal best (and their support for what that means to each student).

My son has been attending AKKA Westport since he was a Little Dragon and just earned his first brown belt. The teachers are wonderful and really get to know your child and approach them as individuals. The class schedules are flexible and the payment methodology is convenient. AKKA does a great job of communicating special events, and makes a big deal out of the childs progress through the various belts. We are very happy that we chose AKKA Westport for our son, and are extremely proud of his hard work and progress, as is he!

WOW! I have been an athlete my whole life and never before experienced workouts like the ones I get in Ms. Nanos classes. She is the Head Instructor at AKKA Westport, and she is unrivaled as an instructor. I didnt start taking Kenpo until I was 43, and every class gets me one step closer to my Bucket List Black Belt. I have also enrolled three of my daughters in the Kenpo program, and there has been a noticeable difference in attitudes, respect and discipline!

Cant say enough about AKKA. It is impossible for a person to take classes here and not come away with a new family, and feeling very confident.
