Love this elementary school. It is Beautiful, clean and it offers a great program for my 5 year old. I am impressed it even offers a French immersion program. Very happy with this school ❤

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this school. My brother is special ed and has down syndrome and he attended this school for two days. I received a phone call from my mom and she told me that he is being transferred to a different school per the ignorant principal because he hugs and kisses kids a lot. My brother has been an Elmo fanatic since he was 2. In every episode, Elmo mentions kiss kiss and gets a kiss from whomever their guest celebrity is. My brother has adopted that. Growing up he had complications with eating to the point where they were going to place a G-Tube on him. So then they tried to say that he is really behind and that this is also why they need to send him to a different school because he is too behind compared to the other kids. no matter how this principle worded any of it, he is basically profiling my brother by his actions. My brother is FIVE YEARS OLD!!!! He has never been in a school environment and before going to that school, the administration was made aware of all of it. It is unfair that this is happening and NEVER was any of this brought up in the two days that he attended. I will support my mom in any action that she will seek. If this school thinks that we are not going to do anything, because of our appearance, they are wrong. Even if it wont get us far, we will make sure that we spread the word about this principle and teacher. The school and rest of the staff might be good but when you have people that judge a five year old like if he was some kind of pervert, it is not right, no matter how much you try to justify it. To any special ed parents, just be aware.

With a success of its new French academy (French dual language program), we expect to have another year of successful French immersion first grade with qualified teachers and curriculums, and special ed classes and teachers are awesome!

Both my children attended Richland Ave Elementary and both had a wonderful experience. The school is lucky to have their principal he is great. Hes there greeting the kids and parents almost every morning and at the end of the day. Hes approachable, listens to parents and genuinely cares about all aspect of the school. The office staff are also very nice and friendly. My experience with the teachers my children had did vary. They both had amazing teachers in the lower grades K-3, 4-5th grade teachers are great but seem to have less enthusiasm about being a teacher. I believe this is due to be them being overwhelmed by the large class sizes in the upper grades. There were 36 kids in my daughters 5th grade English class. Its just my option, but... I strongly believe more teachers and classrooms are needs to accommodate the growing popularity of the school.Richland is a hidden jem on the Westside. There are great parents there, who volunteer and care about their childrens education experience. Its also a safe campus locations in a cute and quiet neighborhood. Im sad that my kid wont be going there in the Fall but I still plan on volunteering there when I can.
