My kids have been coming here for over 3 months and thoroughly enjoy it. REKM is great at including everyone and the comprehensive teaching has led to my kids making continuous progress (They are already yellow belts). With 3 lessons per week available, you can also get great value for money from it. Highly recommended!

This place is great! I have never see a place like this here in the USA. My 4 yr old son is simultaneously treated lovingly and affectionately while also being spoken to like a little man and put through boot camp like training ;) He just started and already the discipline and respect he is learning from class is reflecting at home. He is learning the basics of self defense and how to coordinate his movements, and how to push through his tiredness or feeling of being overwhelmed or desire to give up. As a result he feels great when he is able to surprise himself with what he can do, like recently getting his yellow belt!

Krav Maga LA is outstanding! Ive been fortunate to be apart of the Krav Maga family for almost a year now and Im constantly getting pushed, constantly getting challenged, constantly getting tested to become better. I was fortunate enough to play college football and I havent been in this good of shape since my playing days. Its become one of my passions and I look forward to continuing to push myself to get better!

Its a really great place for my kids to build their strengths and a nice attitude to learning. The Sensei Roy is a wonderful teacher and friend that helps kids and adults reach their full potential and develop many different life skills. I recommend this place for kids to put their energy in and actually get something out of it, and definitely for adults to learn how to protect themselves. Just love this place!

I love this place! I have trained in other areas of martial arts and contact sports and I get the best all around training at REKM. I started 6 months ago and this is the best decision I have made since I moved to LA. Sensei Roy is tough but it has made me stronger both physically and mentally. I am in much better shape working with him and I know that if I stay here I can only get better. I have met some great friends here as well. This is not a gym. It is a community. Everyone is working hard toward their own goals but has great attitudes and is very welcoming. I recommend joining the club....it will change you for the better.

Krav Maga is wonderful! At first I was very intimidated by the atmosphere, members, and Sensei Roy, however after attending my first few classes I was hooked. The people were friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. They offer kids, teens, womens only classes, boxing, yoga, and level 2 & 3 classes. I have taken most of them and can benefit from each one slightly differently. The classes have helped me to become stronger not only physically but mentally as well. I have gained a confidence I didnt even know existed! It has been a very long time since I have found something I truly enjoy going to. I look forward to seeing the friends I have made, learning something new, and getting a great workout.Being 40 years old and female hasnt hindered me. Trust me when I tell you... I can hang with the big boys!Give it a try! You wont be disappointed.

I have trained in several different martial arts academies in the past and I can confidently say that REKM is easily one of the best places Ive ever had the privilege to train at. The atmosphere is friendly but productive, the facilities are clean and well kept, and the instruction is simply outstanding. Lastly, I really appreciate the transparency behind the different payment plans and I like the fact that the instructor and staff dont pressure their students to sign contracts of any kind.

Krav, REKM, and Sensei Roy will bring out the fighter in you. Been with REKM for 2 years now and have gained the confidence, the training, and the wits to handle myself in bad situations. This program is not for people who simply want to pay for a martial arts belt. Prepare to have bruises the size of grapefruits, busted knuckles, busted lips, and other badges of true, gritty hard work. The program accommodates every proficiency level and make no mistake--it will push you to work harder and be better.

What defines the character of a person? How would you know what youre capable of if youve never been tested? What if there is a crisis and you have to deal with it to protect not just yourself but a loved one?How does a bull, when a lions coming after him, and he has to protect the whole herd-how does he know what powers hes got? He knows because it has taken him a long time to become powerful. Like the bull, a man doesnt become heroic all of a sudden, either. He must train through the winter and make ready- EpictetusIt may sound intense but that is Sensei Roys passion for the art Krav Maga. He wants you to learn, he wants you train, he wants you to become BETTER than you were yesterday. All you have to do is show up and be ready. I will admit some days are harder than others, but if it were easy, then everyone would be doing it ;). Thats what separates REKM from other dojos and when youre there, you feel it.If you put in the time, the work and the focus-what you get back is invaluable.

Krav Maga LA with Roy is one of the top martial arts schools I have ever been to because it not only will strengthen your body, but your mind as well.Ive been a martial artist for more than four years and the reason why this school is top is because it pushes you to be stronger. As a woman, you will feel more confident and sexier. And if a rapist tries to attack you, you know that you will be able to not only be able to defend yourself, but you will teach that rapist an important lesson they will never forget: do not mess with me or you will regret it for the rest of your life.Man or woman, your core/your abs will become either toned or ripped. Its because we spend time punching each other in the gut and you feel like you are invincible. All in all, one of the reasons I like going to this facility as well is that the teachers absolutely know their martial AND the students are very kind. You can meet new people and make friends as well. No stingy uptight vibes. Law students, tech guys, flight attendants, waitresses, whichever.. by the end of the day.. we come together as a martial arts class..as a team and learn through this art..what life is all about. Are you up for a CHALLENGE?KRAV MAGA LA.

Anyone who is contemplating taking martial arts should definitely sign up at REKM!! Before joining here, I had some previous martial arts experience, including other Dojos in LA, and they dont even come close to comparing to REKM! Ive learned more here in a month than Ive learned in three months at other places! What I like most about this place is the instruction...you dont feel like youre getting lost in the class, and Im always learning something new. If youre feeling apprehensive or scared to come...dont be! Everyone here is so welcoming and eager to help! Im confident I found the right place to train! Literally, I know a few people that commute all the way from Pasadena to Marina Del Rey to come to class...now thats saying something! ;) See you in class!

Sensei Roy is amazing with the kids and our daughter loves him! She started on a free week long trial and was completely engrossed in it after the first class. When we came home that day she was practicing what she had learned. The staff is very nice and patient. What we like best is how Sensei is able to focus on each individual student in the class and how its geared towards self defense and fitness not showy moves. If you want a great martial arts course for you or your child REKM is definitely the place.

I tried various martial arts & forms of self defense over the course of my life & never stuck with anything because I felt it wasnt practical. The first time I went to REKM, I was kicking & punching a pad held by another person & then doing the same for them. I knew then that this was the place for me. Especially as a woman, it is important to know what it feels like to be hit in a friendly environment so you dont panic if something bad does happen. I like that there are an equal number of men & women here & that there are also women at pretty advanced stages. The dojo also has a shower if you want to clean up right after class & the place is always very clean. I work for Equinox & our facilities are kept very clean, so I know how much work it takes to maintain that. Sensei Roys qualifications are beyond compare & he teaches many of the classes. One other thing I have to mention is the feeling of family here. Everyone is very welcoming & also steps up to help you learn. I highly recommend REKM for anyone!

I can see how someone would think Roy has emotional issues just working there ive witness him tear people down as well as the manager Leeor they both have this idea that the way to build people up is to tear them down I saw Roy continue to beat on a guy who could barely stand up in a fight after he already fought him made him come back. Then the pricing is horrible Roy took out the showers and other room for boxing to make himself a cozy little apartment. Now people go home with sweat dripping and the schedule bad swell my advice is to go to Krav Maga World wide they have much better and professional teachers gio didnt even show up to his last class or call or anything I felt had because thats not cool to pay over hundreds of dollars every month and the teachers are not even on time.

I have completed my 7th session last month and now on my 28th session and counting everyday I go and LOVE IT.... and I cannot thank Sensei Roy Elghanayan enough, as Ive had one of the hardest lives you could possibly have which is I have not seen my DAD for 28 years and I have not seen my MOTHER for about 15 years, lived before in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Los Angeles deep into South Central LA where it was a war zone everyday on Normandie x 107th st and survived many obstacles there and I always did everything Mind Over Matter no matter what it is! So I pushed myself last year to RUN the 26.2 MILES LA marathon with no training last year 2016 February 14th Valentines Day and with diabetic nerve pain in which it feels like youre walking on fire all day long and Ice pin shooting needle pain and everything combined I could honestly say I was lost for over 15 years because when my mother left my world turned upside down and I was suicidal everyday and I could truly say this is starting to balance me in life now!! Yes you do need to push yourself to your limits and mentally block the Pains of life and push for success and reward is your progress I believe but I love every single moment of every challenge that I am experiencing at this amazing DOJO ....not to mention how nice everybody is! Even though this is my 7th session, my body is starting to really shape and I am honestly taking this class for many reasons...not just a few sessions and I could honestly say this is the best DOJO I have ever been to very personable and very very caring from Sensei Roy Elghanayan to other instructors such as Pouya I love the warm-ups and I love the challenges and I am glad I signed up and part of this DOJO now!! You maybe well ask, why did I share my personal story through my review for others to read and view my story I wont get into but shared the main things I went through without parents, because no matter how hard you had it.... somebody could always have it worse than you..... so my message is DONT EVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER and always appreciate your parents I love them and care for them as much as you can and cherish them!! Always push for greatness, no matter the obstacles and no matter the life challenges!HASHEM G-D works in mysterious ways that we cannot understand but later do understand down the line!! Hopefully this story of mines inspires you and pushes you in anything you do be very consistent! In anything to do consistency is key to SUCCESS!!Thank you Sensei Roy Elghanayan for all that you do and AM YISRAEL to my last breath!

I appreciated my time training with him and the rest of the staff and just wished I could have continued training there. Linda, one of the instructors, is an awesome instructor as well. I appreciated her attention to detail and explaining the reason why actions or motions are executed a certain way. The support staff is awesome as well. Everyone is very helpful. Hands down the most amazing Krav Maga dojo Ive been to in LA...and honestly, ever. And thats coming from someone whos been doing martial arts for 8 years.Sensei Roy is extremely passionate, knowledgeable, and skilled - actually, thats an understatement - at his craft, about his students, and what he does. He very much knows his stuff and us as students couldnt ask for a better instructor and role model let alone be more fortunate to have the opportunity to train with him.The classes are tough and you will most definitely be pushed but its all in good return. In life, the reality is that if youre not uncomfortable or pushed out of your comfort zone, you wont grow - and what better place to do so than the most kick-ass Krav Maga dojo in LA. An amazing workout and learning invaluable and super practical self-defense skills in one of the cities where its most needed - ESPECIALLY being a woman? Sign me up!Sensei, the staff, and the students are all wonderful people and very kind, helpful, and welcoming to newbies and veterans alike. Everyone takes the time and makes it a point to help each other out. Its a serious physical and mental workout; but if youre willing to learn and listen, check your ego in at the door, are dedicated and get up and come to class even when youre thinking twice about it, and train with everything youve got, youll meet and exceed your own expectations and achieve more in a few months than you ever thought possible. REKM makes the journey of physical and mental self-development equally if not even more exciting than the endgame, and I honestly cant wait to see the results of and where my time training here will take me.

The owner/instructor Roy is an amazing teacher BUT he has a major temperament and/or psychological issues. I had attended classes for roughly 1 1/2 - 2 years, a while back until...Roy got ticked off because I was going to miss testing for one of the classes. I was not being tested but was just supposed to help out with the testing of the other level (which I would have been happy to do). BUT since the testing date had been rescheduled to a date during which I was to be out of town and already had a flight purchased for, there was no way for me to make it. So in class Roy sparred with me and went extra hard on me intentionally and ended up causing a full fracture + partial dislocation of my right arm. I knew something had happened in the midst of the sparring session but Roy still went on for a couple more minutes (could not get him to stop in the midst of the sparring session). Roy claims to be the only 2-time champion with the Israeli army but when you train your body to be a lethal weapon, you also need to have control of your mind and emotions - which Roy is clearly lacking! So thanks to Roy, I now have a metal plate in my arm.It was a real bummer dealing with the recovery because I was going from sometimes doing 2 super intense classes a day there to not being able to do any upper body workout while my arm healed.I had never sued anyone in my life but felt that this situation would warrant me hiring an attorney. Called the local CA bar association and got referred to an attorney who passed me off to a friend of his because he felt his friend would have a better understanding of the situation since he practiced martial arts. Unfortunately, that attorney never really did anything. But I was able to find out that Krav Maga LA had NO INSURANCE at the time my injury occurred. They had just moved from a leased space which had insurance included within their rent payment to a different space that they were responsible for getting their own insurance for (BUT they had not yet gotten around to it yet)! Plus they claimed that they had NO MONEY and THEY DID NOT PAY A PENNY towards my medical expenses. And to show how organized his brother Tamir, the business manager, is they had even managed to lose the waiver form that I signed when I initially signed up for classes. To ADD INSULT TO INJURY... a while later Tamir contacted me and told me they wanted to do a pay-off to settle things with me. So I drove to Tamirs office in Westwood which he did just to have me sit down and insult me and laugh at me. What a prick!Stay far away from these clowns! I was very forgiving of Roys temper and lack of control until all this crap happened.A little background on me - I am former military and have done many different types of high intensity sports & workouts including: Football, Wrestling, Karate, Kickboxing, Boxing and more. The fact that they change locations every 1-2 years also seems a bit suspicious to me.

From all the way south in Australia, so I obviously cant speak specifically about my experience at Krav Maga LA. Regardless Roy is incredibly brilliant; he isnt a Sensei for no reason. As my first experience I attended a 2hr weapons seminar delivered by Elghanayan and I can safely say have never been more intrigued by a technique the minute it started. This art isnt for the faint hearted and Roy makes this nothing but clear. So be prepared to work hard if you are lucky enough to be graced with his presence. Also, Im sure I can speak for the boys at IDF TRAINING, Melbourne- we will all definitely miss this privilege of having one of the most renowned Krav fighters around for both his presence and his knowledge. Going forward a few months, through my police recruitment I know already I will have a lot to thank him for. For all those lucky souls on the west coast USA, get down there! He will sadly be back with you very soon. Good one mate, youre an animal!

Roy Elghanayans Krav Maga is the rarest of finds in the martial arts world.I will begin with Roy himself, finding a world class martial artist and former hand to hand combat instructor for the Israeli special forces is unique enough, add to that years of teaching experience both before during and after he served in the Israeli military and official certifications as a Krav Maga and Combat Fitness Instructor from Israels prestigious Wingate Institute and you have the ideal teacher, one whos ability to teach matches his eye-popping abilities and extensive knowledge base. Which leads us to the martial arts system he teaches.Roy teaches the same Krav Maga taught to elite special forces units in the IDF. This alone makes his system fascinating to learn and VERY effective in real life situations. He has taken this system, already renowned the world over for its simplicity and effectiveness, and given it a touch of the exotic by combining it with Israeli Ju Jitsu. This variant of Japanese Ju Jitsu is quite effective in its own right. Taking these two systems and combining them to enhance the effectiveness and versatility of special forces Krav Maga, while still keeping the system simple and easy to teach, is a triumph of martial arts system development. The best way I can describe the system is the it feels just right. Which is how I feel about his school.REKM in Los Angeles strikes a balance that is difficult to come by when shopping for a martial arts school. It is large enough that you get to practice techniques on both men and women of various size and body structure, yet remains small enough to keep something of a family feel and ensure adequate attention from the instructors (often Roy himself) and avoid leaving the student feeling like they are lost in a crowd. The school is kept clean, there is a small but well-designed bathroom and shower. The changing and storage area has a security camera so you dont have to worry about your belongings while you train. Parking is generally not a problem and the equipment is well maintained and adequate for everything that is taught at the school. In short, REKM in Los Angeles is the school I have been seeking for much of my adult life. Now that I am here you will have to drag me out kicking and screaming because I know if I leave I will never find another one like it.I Hope people find this review informative.

Having just moved to California from Canada I must say I felt a sense of up-rootededness. I casually bought a Groupon for this place as I had heard of Sensei Roy...from the very first class, I realized this place was indeed something special. There is a great deal of positive energy, encouragement and camaraderie that usually only comes when youre in a team sport (I remember my old rowing crew from college where we used to hit the water together every morn and built that spirit of bonding). But here I found a genuine sense of belonging, from Mike the incredibly warm and caring boxing coach, to Linda, the wonderfully inspiring and dedicated instructor who made sure I moved on to the next level by pushing me harder and not allowing me to give up, even when I wanted to toss in the towel. The care and attention that you receive here as a student makes you realize that this is more than dojo, its a place where you meet wonderful people and make friends. After a long day of work or a hard and frustrating week -- I always found myself looking forward to Krav Maga.If you want a solid training session, the Warrior Workouts are excellent for building strength and endurance, its a fusion of cross-fit and stretches to make sure youre ready for the moves they teach you in class (and the higher belts will always take the time to help you out during Open Mat -- for me it was those blasted roundhouse kicks I kept struggling to nail!). They say in LA you can die of encouragement, but this is one place where the encouragement is sincere and you will want to work harder because the people around you compel you to do so.If you want to learn how to defend yourself, Sensei Roy is ideal. He wont tolerate laziness. He wont take any bullsh*t. Hell work you harder than you think you can you want to work. You can break your ribs while youre testing or snap your fingers while youre sparring -- but hell push you to keep fighting and teach you not to give up. Training the mind is as much a part of the discipline as training the body. Although I have to admit Roy was intimidating at the beginning, hes actually really caring. REKM is well worth the shot...I highly recommend it, especially to women who want to know that they can protect themselves and remain calm and confident if ever a situation were to arise where she found herself in harms way. Linda is definitely an instructor who makes any woman want to learn to kick some serious ass...and believe me...shell take the time to show you how! ;-)

I like the fact that they have classes in the morning and afternoon because my schedule changes a lot and I can just go online look at the next class and go to it. I really like the sparring the sensei Roy puts you with people that are going to make you better fighters and the sparring is not to hurt each other but to learn from your mistakes and get better and if you want you can go hard as well if you can take it and then talk them after because is a good sportsmanship eviroment. I have lost a lot of weight and my endurance is getting better as well. Come and try it you wont regreat it.

Going into my 3rd year at KMLA and Love it!!! Seeing how all of it and myself have grown over the years, much thanks to Sensei and his insane passion.Level 1: Its your FOUNDATION, basic punches and kicks. Movements, wriest releases and combos. CARDIO and more CARDIO.Level 2: Expanding on level 1. More kicks and punches. Learning how to put together your own combos. Some takedowns.Level 3: Expanding on level 2 now including choke holds and bear hugs. More takedowns and some throws.Level 4: Expand on 3 now it starts getting REALLY fun! If he hasnt killed you yet, and you made it this far... lets prepare to earn that black belt. Now we get into knife defenses and when hes feeling like having fun, we do IDF style training. He pushes you harder then you ever thought possible. Heat, sweat, pain and sometimes a little blood. But when its over, the confidence and feeling of accomplishment... nothing better. And the women!!! Holy hell, when I started in 2011; I was 1 of 4 chicks... now i think we have close to 20. The womans class is a perfect start for those wanting to do it but concerned about working with the guys. Its a womens only Level 1 class, so you get the information and confidence before going into the other classes and working with the guys. One thing to note: now that we have so many women, you really only end up working with them when we spar. All and all if you really want to learn real world self defense and get a killer work out in the process. Plus build confidence no matter how your self-esteem is, this is the place for you. Everyone is helpful and kind and always willing.

Roy Elghanayans Krav Maga (REKM) is great. I joined two weeks prior to my 40th birthday, with no prior martial arts training. It has been almost 5 months since I joined and I should be testing for my orange belt (level 3) in late November. I typically train in the daytime and due to the smaller class size get a significant amount of hands-on instruction from Sensei Roy. Of course, it is physically and mentally challenging. Training is not easy, but it is very rewarding. Sensei Roy pushes you and the other students support you. There is great camaraderie among the students. We help ourselves, by helping each other. It all seems a bit overwhelming at first...the intensity and energy of the dojo, the upper level classes, the sparring, the wrist releases...but if you put in the time, respect the discipline and push yourself, you will see improvement and gain confidence.

Certain choices lead to transformative experiences. Growing up as a scrawny Asian kid in a very rural area in the south led to more than a few bumps and bruises. A bit older and a having staked residence in the City of Angels (but still sort of scrawny), Im no longer ducking angry hillbillies. Yet there was something still missing in my life.Ive had no problem occupying time with work and hobbies. My head space, on the other hand, has always been a bit frantic. I always knew my life needed a sense of balance, but I didnt know where to look. Groupon placed a stone on the other side of the scale.Having trained under the expert eye of Sensei Roy Elghanayan for almost a year now, Ive developed a self-confidence that has permeated all areas in my life. I thought I was already in fairly decent shape, but the first few months of training at KMLA will increase your stamina and overall conditioning even higher. Linda and Chris help instruct and take the time to break down technique and form, while doing so in a very positive environment. The foundation youve built within just a few months will be taken to another level, as Sensei derives lesson plans founded upon a wealth of knowledge and experience. By the time each class hour is up, youll reflect on how much youve accomplished (and how much you surprised yourself). And if youre looking to optimize your health and body, drop in on the Warrior Workouts... Lindas motivation will push you to complete evolutions your mind never thought possible.I came in with no previous martial arts training and it definitely showed at first. Dont worry- there are no egos at the dojo and the higher belts are all too happy to help. Several months seemed to fly by when another member stopped to tell me how far Ive come. When you make this a commitment, improvement is a natural byproduct. And because youve been so focused in your training, you may be the last to know it.Ive still got a long way to go, but Im confident enough now to understand how to intelligently remove myself from more than a few dangerous situations. Like life, Krav Maga is a never-ending process of learning. You may as well learn from the best there is. Youll also meet some pretty genuine folks taking this same journey, along the way.

EXCELLENT! The environment is very friendly and welcoming and the facility (Dojo) is very clean and modern (they use iPads and scanners for registration and check-in). My journey began 4 months ago when I wanted to try an activity that not only provided a great workout, but gave me a chance to learn something new, and was different every time I went. I have found that at Krav Maga LA. They not only offer true Krav Maga Self Defense, but also Boxing, a great cardio workout called the Warrior Workout, and Yoga! This is pretty much a one-stop shop for your body and mind! I decided to take the path of Krav Maga and all I can say is WOW! Sensei Roy provides an amazing system that welcomes all levels (check out his youtube videos to confirm for yourself). I went through the GROUPON (searched Krav Maga Los Angeles) for a deal in my area.. and I found Krav Maga LA. I look forward to continuing to get a great workout and learn something new and useful at every class... and be part of something positive... in order to reach my goals. This is for all levels... and I found that the GROUPON was a great way for me to give it a try!
