I am very happy I found Encore French! Their lessons are convenient and high quality. I have been working with Samba quite a while now — I believe 50 lessons now— and my French has improved significantly. He is a really excellent teacher who is thoughtful about lessons and makes sure you are speaking and using the language to learn rather than just having you do a lot of worksheets (which was often my experience in school).Emmanuel (the owner) is responsive and has really created a set up to make zoom lessons work well. It has allowed me to practice French safely during the pandemic (which was a solace for me) and even when I moved or traveled.

Emmanuel is a wonderful French instructor! He helped me keep up with and improve upon my French skills while also teaching me about French culture and real life in France. Upon returning to the states from a year in France, I was worried about losing my language skills. Weekly lessons with Emmanuel were exactly what I needed to maintain my French!

So much to say about Emmanuel’s professionalism and character that doesn’t quite sink in til you’ve gained the privilege to become one of his students. He’s a gentle, sweet and kind person. I love how he asks your long term goals from the beginning. His Instagram and TikTok are the most popular in the French teaching realm cause the way he teaches is revolutionary. His graphics are captivating. The detail in the captions on Instagram are perfect. Just when you think you can’t get a topic, he makes a video in a way where you finally get it and are glad you understood it in his way. Like the others said, he knows just what you need to improve on and prepares each class accordingly. He integrates French culture. Teaches how to make some French dishes on TikTok. All this plays into his ever-growing success. Wrapping up lessons is even enjoyable cause he gives a great run through of what you’ve learnt and makes you think til the end. I’ve even learnt life skills from our practice conversations. Only thing wrong is I need more homework ha so glad to have found Encore. It’s what the French language world has been waiting for.

I have been working with Emmanuel for almost 2 years now, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn French. I knew choosing to pick up a language in my 30s was going to be challenging (and I’m not going to sugar coat it, French is tough), but I am amazed at how far I’ve come since beginning lessons with Emmanuel. He brings variety to lessons (that have translated seamlessly to virtual this year) that helps make learning relevant and fun. I really appreciate that Emmanuel teaches you the ‘correct’ way to speak, read & write, but he also tells you how French is actually used and what rules you can bend and break. He creates the ability for you to decide who you want to be when you speak French through teaching you multiple levels of formality and street French.Not only do I feel far more equipped for my next trip to Paris, but I’ve really enjoyed some of the unexpected benefits such as actually understanding what’s going on when a movie or tv character suddenly goes into speaking French with zero or not quite accurate subtitles. My reading and writing skills have come in handy on a few occasions too!On top of all that Emmanuel creates a safe space for learning. He is incredibly patient, caring, and knows when to push you and when to help you out. Emmanuel is always thinking about how he can improve his programs and create materials to supplement learning (you should definitely follow him on Instagram or TikTok).If you love French culture, are willing to take risks and put in the work, Emmanuel will be there to help you ‘level up your Frenchness’ so you can speak like a native French speaker (or close to it).

It’s hard to learn another language when we are not present with the actual surrounding. Even though there are apps and blogs to helping me master French, I have to say nothing beats taking French lessons from this place with native French speaking teachers. I have improved my French so much faster and efficient with my weekly lessons here. My teacher Emmanuel was patient, dedicated and easy going. He’ve made my learning experience productive and fun. Ive been taking Encore French Lessons for over 6 months now and very happy with our classes. Emmanuel offers a well rounded curriculum, we focus on different aspect vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar...I wouldnt say Im a good student especially the grammar part, but Emmanuel is very patient and explains in a way I feel like Im not just following a book. Everything I learn can be easily apply to everyday life and when I travel abroad.Besides the weekly class, theres also a free weekly newsletter that features French culture, fun facts and quizzes, that keeps me well in the mood of French than only during the class.

This is one of my favorite spots in CA. The food is excellent, not cheap but not overpriced either. Ive played shows in the lounge and love the atmosphere and sound in the room as well! Id recommend this place to anyone!

Emmanuel is a patient and professional teacher who offers structure, workbooks and homework which I appreciated. I started taking lessons with Emmanuel before going to France for business, and am so grateful I did- not having studied French since high school has kept me pretty rusty, and working with Emmanuel brought back so much of the grammatical concepts and vocab I had forgotten in such a natural manner. He tailors each lesson to what your individual goals and wishes are, all while leaving time to just chat in French, thus developing your ease and comfort speaking (which was my main objective, rather than strictly sticking to grammar). I am so excited to continue lessons even with my trip behind me, and cant recommend Emmanuel enough!

Emmanuel is a great teacher! He tailors his lessons to suit his students’ level and aptitude. Furthermore, he focusses on pronunciation and conversational aspects, while striving to explain grammar as intuitively as possible. He is a natural at teaching and a native speaker, so it doesn’t get much better. The lessons are one-on-one, well planned and enjoyable. I have learned a significant amount in a short span of time. However, and more importantly, my confidence in my ability to converse in French has increased several fold. I would highly recommend his classes.
