I cant say enough great things about this place. Dynamix has some of the best instructors and friendliest training partners. You are literally coached by previous UFC fighters. Ive done classes in striking, wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu, and all of them have been great. The class sizes are usually about ten people, giving you plenty of one on one interaction with the instructors. Whether you want to compete in Martial Arts of just want to learn self defense, this school is amazing. I recommend this place without reservation!

This place is perfect for anyone wanting to try martial arts. The students here are all calm and are trying to learn without hurting each other which can happen at other gyms. Ive tried a couple gyms in the years ive been training and this is by far the best one because of its staff and the students.

This gym unlike many others I have trained at promotes a team atmosphere which helps elevate everyones game. Egos are absent which is also a great plus. The instructors are really friendly and just happen to be more knowledgeable than 99% of instructors elsewhere. I would list their credentials but it would take too long.Probably the most significant aspect that separates this gym from the others I have trained at are the instructors ability to explain the techniques incredibly effectively. You understand immediately how the technique works, and why what you were doing before doesnt. I cannot convey in words just how highly I recommend this place.

The best place teaching martial arts I have ever seen. Great coaches (some of them UFC veterans), great students and respectful atmosphere. Every class is full of learning, but it is safe and not crazy like at some other places with absolutely meaningless drills. The fact that the attendants of this school successfully compete on a state and national level speaks for itself.

Amazing gym. Very welcoming and humble instructors and classmates. I am traveling and was there for the 7am kickboxing and couldn’t ask for a better mix of warmup, drills, and light sparring to start the day. Thank you.

Every time I get a chance to travel to LA I make sure I stop by Dynamix to train under Prof. Akins. If you ever wanted to add to your jiu-jitsu, do yourself a favor and stop in as soon as you can. Youll learn something almost immediately.

I had been training Jiu Jitsu off and on for 4 years. Meeting Henry Akins has been an eye opening experience. Seriously, its ridiculous how much I didnt learn until now. If you want a belt to have a belt go train anywhere. If you want to be the best, train with Henry. Just take one free class.... Youll see for yourself. As for training partners, there are some great guys to train with. As the only girl in class, its nice to know I can trust they arent going to try to kill me.....although they do put pressure on me so I can learn :) Do it!!!!Recently, I decided to try the kickboxing classes. I have been training for a few months now and am hooked! The instruction is awesome! Antoni Hardonk treats everyone with respect, regardless of skill level. Morning classes are offered and the gym has showers, so you can go before work! If I had more time I would be there every day. Its so much fun and a great way to get in/stay in shape. It is also great stress relief. Beside the fitness benefits, it builds confidence. AJ, Kate and Vidush are all great instructors as well. No matter when you show up, you will have a great time! (And there are several females training in KB now, so you dont have to worry if you are small like me).The wrestling class is amazing! It is also brutal and you will sweat (and be really really sore after); but its a great way to tie the kickboxing and BJJ together. Vlad is very skilled in this sport as well as teaching. I was intimidated to take the class, but Vlad immediately welcomed me into the class and made sure to pair me with someone that would be a good fit for me.Training in all three has built my confidence. I started training martial arts years ago to feel safe. I finally do! I tried other arts and other gyms, but this is the first place that has made me well rounded and taught techniques that actually work in competition as well as the streets.

Ive been training off and on for years and I am (and have always been) the smallest person in class. After training with Henry Akins for a few short months, I have quickly realized that size isnt a big deal. Henry received his black belt from Rickson Gracie, who believe in Invisible Jiu Jitsu, which resulted in an extremely technical teaching style and a strong belief in feeling the techniques. You will never know what you are missing until you feel it.When I first walked in the door of Dynamix, I was shocked at the technical level of the students who trained there. Come to find out, Henry doesnt give away belts; he creates extremely technical students who earn them.Henry Akins is amazing. No matter your rank, hes got something for you. If you want to be the best, you have to train with the best. Dont waste your time going anywhere else. You can try classes for free... so do it!

I considered several schools in the area. Dynamix is far and away the best school in the area. Henry Akins is an extremely patient and knowledgeable instructor, he really seems to care about all of his students (something that is, unfortunately a bit rare in this sport. I was encouraged by Antoni Hardonk to try Kickboxing, and I fell in love with the class. Antoni is a very patient and encouraging instructor, he is extremely knowledgeable as well. I would encourage anyone who is considering taking up Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, or MMA training to try out Dynamix before signing up for a contract anywhere. You will be glad that you did.

If you’re located in the West Los Angeles / Santa Monica area and are interested in learning the effective self-defense arts of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and/or Dutch-Style Kickboxing then I would highly recommend that you pay a visit to Dynamix MMA. The bottom line is you receive top notch technical instruction alongside an awesome group of people in a great facility.Instruction:Henry Akins is an elite Rickson Gracie Black Belt (not all Black Belts are created equal) with a true mastery of Jiu-Jitsu concepts and techniques. I have trained under many different Jiu-Jitsu instructors and I have found Henry’s teaching and philosophies to be a refreshing view on a sport that has rapidly grown away from its founding principles. Henry focuses his curriculum on techniques that work in actual combat situations as well as techniques that work for all body types and personal attributes. In my opinion, it is this focus that enables him to have a deeper understanding of true Jiu-Jitsu and comprehend details of techniques that most other instructors aren’t aware of. Take a class with him and you will immediately know why his peers have labeled him the Jiu-Jitsu “Supercomputer.”Former K1 and UFC fighter, Antoni Hardonk teaches the striking classes at Dynamix. Antoni’s striking style is based on the Dutch style of kickboxing which has been so effective at dominating the kickboxing scene for the past couple of decades (see names such as Ernesto Hoost, Remy Bonjasky, Alistair Overeem, Peter Aerts, etc.). Antoni introduces you to Dutch-Style Kickboxing much further than just showing you how to kick a heavy bag. You will learn all facets of striking, including foot-work, clinching, defensive maneuvering, counter-striking, easy to advanced combinations as well as the strategy to put it all together. Additionally, Antoni is also one of the nicest and most charismatic guys you will ever meet. His personality helps to make an initially intimidating environment feel warm and friendly. Both Henry and Antoni are true masters of their trade. They both have spent countless years training with the absolute best in their respective domains and are able to effectively convey that wealth of experience to their students. I believe having both of these guys under one roof truly makes Dynamix a unique place to develop your skills.Other:The gym has many other intangibles which make it a great place to learn and train. There seems to be a great sense of team unity at Dynamix where egos are held in check and students strive to help one another progress their knowledge base. Furthermore, the facility itself is great. The facility offers plenty of clean open space for instruction and sparring. Lastly, parking is pretty good as well considering the area. You can usually always find parking in the lot or the underground garage.
