I don’t have a lot of experience with UCA in LA but I once spent the weekend at one of their events, which was a lot of fun. And by the way, in case you were wondering, I was very impressed by the music being performed. I work in music and I thought that the percussion work was just great and meshed really well with some interesting vocal styles. I wish I’d brought my rig to record it!

Ive had an excellent experience in and around the Capoeira community that United Capoeira Association Los Angeles has created. Weve been camping together, celebrated birthdays together and more. Just as importantly, the caliber of Capoeira thats taught is excellent. Contra Mestre Guatambu is extremely knowledgeable in all things Capoeira, and his students end up skilled and elegant Capoeiristas with unique aptitude for Capoeiras musical side.

Super great Capoeira, super great community, and super great fun! UCA in LA is absolutely sure to give you great work out, while teaching you all about the many layers of the extremely rad and distinct art form that is Capoeira.Contra Mestre Guatambu has over 15 years of experience in Capoeira, and his time as a personal trainer and schooling in performing arts adds to his expertise. He knows a lot about biomechanics and healthy movement, as well as music theory (and music is a big part of Capoeira). Capoeira is good for the soul — come around and have a good time!

Awesome classes, highly recommend if your looking for new ways to move your body, and a cool community of folks to dance battle with. The Sensai of the Capoeria dojo (Guatambu) is very knowledgeable, and every class I learn something new.I never thought I’d be playing in a band, or staying on a beat, but that all changed since I’ve been endowed with the sacred wisdom of Capoeria! Also you get sooooo strong, UNLIMITED POWER!Peace✌️

I was looking for a capoeria class to visit while on our trip to California. This capoeria class looked like they knew how to teach kids. The studio is small and clean and website nicely done. But as we took the first class I was very unimpressed and disappointed with the style of teaching of the kids class. I had paid for 4 classes thinking after the first class it would get better...but it didnt. My son has been in capoeria for a year and he was teaching him like it was his first class. For what they charge ($60 per 4 classes) and what is taught @ 45 minute class is a rip off.The instructor doesnt willfully communicate with the parents instead communicates through their children leaving the parent having to research their site for clarification and still my son was given the wrong information for a saturday class that was included in the package.I called their number to find out where the saturday class was being held and as usual no one picks up.The funny thing is there is a child who practices at this place for over a year and her basic form on ginga was terrible. My son has better form and knowledge of movements.Parents who bring in their kids should do their homework on what their kid is being taught and progression of their kids performance.I am so glad to never take my son back there, as our 4 classes are up and our vacation here is over.Bottom line: I wasted time and money. Dont waste yours.
