Great place. Was a student here and learned a lot. Many loud jam sessions late at night took place.

I attended GIT from March 88 - March 89, and it was the greatest single year of my life! It was challenging, but very rewarding. I would give anything to go back in time and do it again!

I attended this school some time back and as a foreign student. I felt that no support was given. No support for cultural differences, accommodation, integration, or anything someone coming from a different country might need. Considering the cost of studying here, I think such assistance for foreign students should have been a matter of course. The high cost is prohibitive and in my opinion you are no better positioned to getting work after studying here. The teachers just didnt seem to care about developing ones own style and it was all very conveyor belt style teaching. It had an atmosphere of students in, take money, and lets hope you get on ok. If you fell off that conveyor belt of teaching, God help you. Admittedly GIT has some great names to their credit but I think these musicians would have been great anyway. The practice areas were poor and the atmosphere was all competitive instead of creative. I wish I could say otherwise as it had been a dream to study here. I hope it has changed for the better since I was there. I know other ex students have had good experiences but Id strongly advise against saddling yourself with the high debt of studying at this school and would suggest youll get as good if not better by working one to one with good teachers and YouTube tuition. Hollywood Boulevard is a place that looks good in the movies but trust me when i say it is littered with souvenir shops and unfortunate homeless characters. I would respectfully suggest find an accredited music school or take a part time course at this school before going into the longer courses, just to see if it suits you. You need to be sure considering the costs involved.

They need to honestly help you structure your classes so that you dont take on more than you can handle per semester, instead of rushing you through like a herd of cattle.

Exceptionally personable and wise, the staff all guided us, in the path of learning, while we were able to create music, with our training, and trainers, beside us the entire journey. The fresh equipment was a easy comparison, to what we will use in the field. I truly wish I Had taken advantage of counseling and employment services, because what little I did use them, it was extremely helpful and accessible.

Great school for people interested in music or music related professions. The drum program teaches were sometimes hard to reach for tutoring and questions, but their knowledge is unlimited. Those guys know what theyre doing! As far as the Music Business program goes, teachers are awesome and very knowledgeable. The only problem is parking, and the very expensive tuition!

I will be graduating on Saturday from the Music Business program. Hands down, the best decision I have ever made. The teachers are industry professionals teaching based on experience and knowledge, not just reading from a book. So much I thought I knew but didnt and where else can I learn Music Law and Publishing, etc. My only complaint is it went by so fast. I am seriously going to miss it. They do however offer passes for alumni for career counseling and equipment use which is awesome. The connections, confidence, knowledge, mentorships, internship and friends I gained throughout my year at MI is priceless. I highly recommend the school to anyone and everyone.

As far as Audio Engineering goes...That school is a tornado of confusion. Im 3 classes away from graduating but have some of the hugest problems getting tutoring & assistance with classes Im having trouble with. Let alone time to truly learn the boards from the professionals. That school needs a staff upgrade immediately in their Audio Engineering Dept.

I am a Bachelor Vocal Student here, I cant speak other peoples opinion, I do think the certificate, independent artist program..the shorter programs are better choices. But I have been here almost 2 years I think I can speak my own experiences. First of all, for the vocal students, there are so many difference styles you have to do, mostly Jazz, latin...They dont focus or try to develop your own style as artist, which can be boring lots of times. Second of all, they are trying to make the program so academic, but they dont have many teachers to teach the more academic classes such a theory, history...and now they try to add math class, I doubt the teachers are going to be good. Lastly, I just feel like most teachers here dont really care about students, I do have some good teachers for like logic, pro-tools classes, but the vocal teachers? Most of them they are unclear, unprofessionals, sometime rude, dont listen to you....They dont encourage students, its just a bad environments to study music, oh, and a lot of stuff they teach are so out of date, I am here only because there arent many music colleges out there.

First off: I went through the Audio Engineering program, not any instrument program. But to be honest, going through this school for an instrument is probably an even worse idea, but I cant honestly speak to that.If you are considering the Audio Engineering program first realize the days of big studios hiring an engineer for a long term career are mostly over. Being an audio engineer now is building your own client base in a very competitive field. No one fails this program. Everyone passes no matter how awful they do. Half of the classes are a huge joke. Classes like Studio Etiquette or Beat Making. BUT some of the classes are very cool. You WILL get to work on nice huge boards in legit studios, and you WILL learn a DAW like Pro Tools. Some of the instructors are very cool and full of knowledge, and some are full of ego and think you are not worth their time.Bottom line: If you are VERY social and good at networking, and also have realistic expectations of the audio engineering career, this program could help you.But for MOST Id say take even just a QUARTER of the money youd spend at this school, buy a nice studio set up and hit the web. There are MORE than enough resources to learn all of this on your own with YouTube videos and message boards/forums. Some of it might go a little slower (I felt I learned Pro Tools quite well at the school) but you can definitely still get there and save a lot of money.

Unless you work for the school after graduating, GOOD LUCK FIND WORK.I am still paying the loans for RIT graduating from 2012, if youre considering doing it. DONT! $25k is no joke when it comes to credit destroying debt. Buy yourself a set up and learn on youtube, go to a community college where your credits are actually transferable to a REAL degree. I appreciate the art of the recording industry and value my knowledge of it, but it was nothing a few weeks/months on youtube with the proper gear and actual material cant teach you. Its fun af because of the location and social life but in all honesty please dont go here, you wont be hired by anyone serious. Unless you end up getting a job at the school after graduating ( making $300-$500 a week ) dont do it. Please heed this advice. The debt is not worth the laughable (nationally credited [NOT REGIONAL!!!]) education.

USES. In the MUSICIANS INSTITUTE of Los Angeles California there are several artists such as musicians such as Jeff Berlin, John Humphrey, Joe Pass, Frank Gamballi, Scott Henderson, and many others in which today they are big stars of the U.S. electric bass. In the MUSICIANS INSTITUTE in this school in addition to music as a true professional school is due, among you learn things such as: pensum schemes, workshops, schedules, clinics, pedagogical stimuli, group formation, the correct way to explain the different subjects and , the implementation of them among other techniques.
