I just want to thank everyone here for helping me acquire my CDL on my first attempt. Fernando and David you guys got me to where I needed to be for my skills and over the road, I appreciate it greatly. Also the ladies in the office (sorry bad with names!) thank you for keeping me up to date and accommodating my schedule.Price was fair for one on one hands on training I think that it was great. For anyone interested in getting their CDL you do have to put in the work its not something thats necessarily easy, make sure you ask lots of questions if you dont understand something.Overall great experience for me :)P.S. Make you sure you eat breakfast day of the test lol

At the end of January, I decided to go to study for commercial driver license. I applied to a GSF driving & truck school. I was told that as soon as I received a permit, they would immediately assign classes to me. A week later, I already received a permit. The manager at this school was surprised that I received the permit so quickly, and said that I must pay the full amount of price ($3,200), so that they can schedule my classes. I paid and received a schedule which will start on March 1st. At that very moment I decided to refund money and change schools. On February 1st, I came to Los Angeles trucking College. On the same day, I already had my first driving lesson there. I was allocated 22 hours of driving and after 17 days, I passed the DMV test. The second school cost me $2,500. The first $1,000 I paid on the first day, and no one rushed me to pay the rest. I expressed a desire to pay for it myself, because I almost finished all classes. I want to thank the managers of this college for the active and timely mailing of schedule messages, and a special thanks to the instructors for their high professionalism, competent step-by-step explanation of all the important nuances! I especially thank to Oscar for the individual approach and the ability to clearly explain everything to the smallest detail. It is the best truck college ever. Reccomended!

I would highly recommend this school. Mr. Jose the driving instructor is very patient, friendly, but most of all very knowledgeable about the course he is instructing. He made me feel very comfortable behind the wheel. Mr. Jibram is another instructor and is also very patient and takes the time to make you feel confident in the knowledge he is providing for the course. Hilary the front office administrator is also another friendly and helpful staff member. She is very sweet and makes you feel like part of a family.

Unfortunately this school is a major rip off! I was so excited to upgrade that I gave a down payment of $2,000 up front. The Covid crisis put everything on lockdown the very next day. I was still willing to wait it out and study. Any questions that were asked online “after” my money was paid was ignored. A simple question when they clearly advertised as open, on IG. I immediately requested a refund because all of the red flags were evident. When I got to the office I was sent back several times to the yard, to the office, and to the yard again. The instructor on the yard acted like a full fledge thug. They did not send me back all of my money, but instead a personal check of only $1,700.00. Now I will have to go to court for the rest. And they have a 15 day cool off period, but we’re closed many of those days that I have proof of via screenshots to present to the judge. You WILL REGRET conducting business here. They will also be reported to the DOT, BBB, & licensing for the State of California!

STOP. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Bad school instructor Fernando is rude. Doesn’t teach students basically we are on our own. False advertising. They claim they offer class A and Class B when you get there they don’t offer class b they lie and tell you it’s the same. Classes are over crowded, for 1 trailer they have in the yard for the group of students. Only get 2-3 opportunities to drive the trailer for about 7 minutes each time. Then back to the list to wait for your name. Waste of time. I contacted BBB and left them a complaint and contacted consumer affairs. This company just wants your money. And they don’t give refunds knowing how bad the service is. We complained to Rosa the receptionist and she says the owner Jose knows of all the complaints but he does nothing. We are told they would let him know and hear no answers. Now some students are complaining because the 5pm-8pm classes are being cancelled because the time change. Since it gets dark at 5:30pm and they have no lights in the small yard. That’s breaching the contract. Bad company. The only good instructor they have is David. But his mainly the instructor for street/ alley driving. That’s when you pay everything in full. But if you haven’t you are stuck with Fernando. The worse ever rude and not helpful.

2.5 Stars.Given that the price of my first-choice was too expensive, I chose LA Trucking College. I payed 2500 for 25 hours (10 speed), including learning stick shift. It was all one-on-one training. I passed my test on my first try. David taught the majority of the hours and Arturo taught me for a few hours. Both have their strengths and challenges. David is GREAT at teaching the inspection. He is also good at teaching skills, I relied 100% on his maneuvering training to pass the skills portion of the exam . Arturo is GREAT at taking you out to drive. He taught me how to get a feel for the clutch, which was something I had difficulty with because I would stall on the road. Before purchasing instruction, I wish someone would have mentioned the following things:1. 25 hours is NOT enough time to feel confident to pass the DMV exam. I honestly feel that I passed because I reached out to a friend who was kind enough to help me train extra hours on the weekends on his personal truck. In other words, you are paying for the BARE MINIMUM to pass the exam and you may not pass on the first try. I tested with four other guys from our school: one failed, one passed on his third testing attempt and another was testing for the second time. I feel safe saying that none of us felt confident going into the road portion of the exam.2. The truck they use to train yard skills is NOT the same one you will use for the DMV exam (if you are testing with the 10-speed.) This is important because the majority of your training is done on the yard truck. The 10-speed, the one I did my DVD exam on, was broken down for about a week so it limited my training hours on the 10-speed even more.3. The mirrors on the 10-speed were very difficult for me to gauge distances during my exam and so I had an infraction during the straight-back portion of the DMV exam. I feel if I had more time to practice with it I would have caught this issue faster and avoided making this mistake during the exam.4. The clutch on the 10-speed is STIFF. Because my training on the 10-speed was so limited, this made things more difficult than need be during the exam. I stalled once on the road. Luckily, I did not stall on an intersection which would have meant an automatic disqualification. To summarize, the 10-speed is so finicky that they should either purchase better equipment or give the students more hours to prepare on the 10-speed. Trust me when I say that these minor details make BIG differences come test day.5. The 10-speed bends differently than the yard truck. You will have to learn to adjust to this with the limited time you have to train with the 10-speed.6. Sometimes the office staff would have meetings with the instructors during training time. I did not mind the first couple of times but it began to interfere after the second time. If I am paying 100 dollars/hour I expect more professionalism. Plan administrative meetings on hours other than when training is taking place.7. Be aware that if you miss a day, YOU MAY NOT RESCHEDULE unless you call a day in advance. I lost one hour because I misread my schedule. I take full responsibility.8. PLEASE give your students access to the videos on the website so that they may begin listening/watching the inspection videos as soon as they sign-up for classes. I did not know about the videos until I spoke to David two weeks into training.9. The yard is only big enough to do half an alley dock.Overall, David is a great instructor doing his best to work with the resources he is given. I believe that he deserves better equipment for the great teaching he does. As mentioned earlier, I passed on my first try but went into the exam with very little confidence. There is a lot of room for improvement at LA Trucking College but I passed on my first try so for that I am grateful. Best of luck to anyone reading.

They gave me a great opportunity, especially since Im working 40+ hours elsewhere and trying to take the class. For the record, its not 1 on 1 or 1 with 3. Your trained in groups, anywhere from 6 to 14 students depending on the day and time you choose and whos in the particular class you go with. Its first come first serve. You get the tools you need to learn, they will teach you. Ask questions. Theyre all good, but David is the most interactive with you and will teach you. He wants you to succeed. The one thing I didnt care for was it wasnt 1 on 1 or 1 on 3 etc. Which I didnt know when I applied. the wait time to learn your parking maneuvers was like a couple hours after about 10 minutes to learn a single maneuver because of the amount of students. They did work with me when I needed it and Im grateful for that. When your not driving, study the book they give you with the trucks that are there. They were the best price when I applied. But not as detailed as Im giving you. Overall, its a good place and great environment. Your all students, work together and test one another. Youll learn faster that way. Watch videos as well over an over. If you study, youll be fine. I did and now I have my CDL. Just dont stand around Bullshiting when you need to learn hands on and visualize the engine etc. Anyway, hope this helps anyone going for their CDL. Thanks L.A Trucking.
