Seriously we LOVE our instructor and we are SO happy That we’ve been taking dance lessons here! We wanted to learn a dance for our wedding and they have exceeded our expectations! Super professional, great service and fun!! Sasha/Alexandra is our instructor and she is so patient and sweet with us. She knows how to coach us and teach us how to move when we really didn’t know much before coming there. We decided to take dance lessons at Fred Astaire to prepare for our first dance at our wedding. We were so lucky to be paired with Yerikk as our instructor! My husband had never taken a dance lesson in his life. Yerikk was so easy to learn from, he made lessons comfortable & fun. It was such an enjoyable experience! Our wedding guests were highly impressed with our rumba dance moves during our first dance. We highly recommend Fred Astair & Yerikk to any engaged couples looking to learn some dance moves.

I have been taking lessons here for about 2 years, and I love the instructors, the atmosphere, and all of the great friends I have made! I have danced in other studios before, and I have never found such a warm, friendly environment that they have here. It is a great balance of really experienced, talented instructors and fun! I was intimidated by the idea of dancing. But upon going to my first lesson I was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm that is rarely found in todays world. My teachers create an environment of fun and excitement that keeps me excelling in a craft that I long dreaded. My boyfriend and I have been doing weekly lessons for the past 6 months and the instructors, particularly Alexandra, make each lesson so exciting and fun. Weve learned several dances and continue progressing in our skills thanks to the supportive, silly, and patient instructors and the great studio atmosphere!

My husband and I have been dancing at Fred Astaire for 3 years now. We initially joined the studio in order to practice for our wedding dance, but dancing has become what we hope will be a lifelong hobby. Our instructors Alexandra and Vladimir are so energetic, funny, and patient, and they make every lesson lots of fun! This place is great!!! What a productive way to spend evenings with my girlfriend. Makes us smile for the rest of the week all while learning how to drop some moves on the dance floor. Jake has been an amazing instructor and gave us enough to be dangerous already in 2 sessions!! Bravo!!!

Plenty of opportunities to learn and show off. The themed parties are a nice and upbeat way to try new things. Every instructor we have worked with found a way to make lessons fun, while still pushing new moves and good form. Instructors that make the effort to know you and your learning style go a long way.

I go about once a week and I love it! I love my instructors, and the atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming. I initially called them on an impulse, wanting to get out of the house after first moving to Madison and wanting to learn to dance, and Im so glad I made the call.

My fiancée and I took lessons in preparation for our wedding and could not be happier with the studio. Fred Astaire Madison is a great studio with some of the best instructors in ballroom! Not only that, but the owners Dymytrii and Tetiana make you feel like youre family the moment you walk in the door. I love my dance family and cant imagine my life without it. They were very accommodating with my busy schedule and very inviting to people who had no dance experience. They encouraged us to go to one of their dance parties and we had a blast!I want to give a shoutout to our instructor Stas. He was amazing and very patient with us! He worked with what we could do and choreographed the perfect dance for our wedding day.

My husband and I had an amazing experience at Fred Astaire on the west side! We bid on a series of lessons from a charity event and thought it would be fun to learn a choreographed dance for our wedding in October 2015. With our busy schedules, we were able to squeeze the lessons in. Adriel is the absolute best and he made every lesson so much fun. He and my now husband bonded very quickly! We laughed all the time and the other dancers were so encouraging and friendly. Everyone is so talented. We had planned on continuing our lessons after our wedding, but my husbands job has prevented that. We plan to be back as soon as we can! My husband and I took lessons at this studio prior to our wedding. We enjoyed them so much that we continued for several months after. Our instructors were patient, talented, and had a great passion for dance. We learned so much and looked forward to each lesson. I would recommend this studio, but with some caveats. They use high pressure sales tactics and try to persuade you to sign up for packages upwards of a thousand dollars. It became difficult to maintain the casual environment we had initially enjoyed due to constant efforts to up-sell expensive coachings and other events. We had to quit our lessons due to external factors, but in the end we had also grown uncomfortable with the pressure to increase our time and financial commitments.

This is where to go if you want the highest quality private ballroom lessons. The instructors are amazing and enthusiastic. Its also easy to become friends with other students. This is totally worth it if you have the money.

Instruction is fine, but I hope youre never injured at a lesson. I dont blame Fred Astaire for the injury itself, it happens, but the instructors are clearly not trained in the very basics of handling a injury and the owners incredibly unprofessional in their response.I dislocated my kneecap and fell during our lesson. I was calm as its happened before. First thing our instructor does is try to forcibly push my kneecap back into place. She should never have touched me. Forcing a dislocation can do far more damage, and I had to tell her to step away. I relocated it myself my manually straightening my leg as I was previously trained to do by a doctor. Before I had a chance to mentally prepare (these injuries are ridiculously painful), a second instructor attempted to drag me up to my feet. We were at one end of the floor already, and people were still dancing elsewhere on the floor. There was no reason to rush me. Again I had to demand that no one touch me without my permission. Once I was up and sitting off the side I asked that the instructor finish teaching the lesson to just my boyfriend. By the end of the lesson the pain was really setting in and there are definitely quiet tears, and our instructor tells me to stop crying because its all mental which felt incredibly insensitive.I obviously couldnt complete the package immediately so we planned to take a couple weeks off to heal then would bump or lesson if needed. Our next was was on a Monday evening and over the weekend it was clear my knee wasnt ready. I tried calling the office to postpone and they werent open on the weekend, the message just gave business hours, so I called the minute they opened Monday morning. I was told by the owner Linda that we would lose the lesson credit because we didnt meet the 24 hour cancellation policy. We were never told leaving a message would in these cases. I then took the time to explain my experience with the injury and how upset I was about the whole ordeal. I brought up how people teaching a physical activity should be trained in basic injury response. She was incredibly dismissive of my concerns and brought me to tears again on the phone. My boyfriend tried calling back since I thought he could explain the situation without so much emotion, and the secretary said that Peter would give him a call in the next two days and we never received a call back. We never completed our package. This was months ago now and I still cant believe how unprofessional everyone was.

I had the most wonderful experience at Fred Astaire. I was there to take lessons to participate in a charity dance. In just five lessons I was able to dance a beautiful waltz.

We took lessons for a couple of months leading up to our wedding and had a blast. Dymitri and Tetiana and the entire staff have wonderful personalities and make it easy and fun. Even though the wedding is over, we cant wait to continue our lessons.

I absolutely adore this studio and loved every moment I spent there! I will forever have fond memories of taking lessons there. The instructors are impeccable and I learned so much! Such a great energy and atmospher!
