Grounds are well kept however class rooms and some campus buildings are old and falling apart. Maps of the campus are weather worn and unreadable. Sanitizer, gloves and masks seem available in most entries. Classroom computers do not seem to be at social distancing space. Will see after first week....

I can honestly say this is the worst place I ever attended. Very thankful that I transferred to memphis. The people who work in the office don’t care if you fail or pass. They don’t care about anything… getting them on the phone to even help with anything is a miracle. I wouldn’t wish anyone the stress of having to go here and not having any help from the office. They do not care about you at all.

I enrolled in a 8 week program. I really liked the smaller classroom sizes. I also attended at night. This location was very clean and well lit at night. Their is also security on duty to patrol the campus. I would recommend this campus to anyone..

I attended here for a while and when I say this community college is horrible. I mean it. They sure do make it feel like a community college. The professors I had were great but when trying to contact any advisors or any offices for help. They take forever to respond and sometimes they dont even respond. Youre literally on your own. When you do get help, theyre very unprofessional and rude. I would not recommend unless they improve their staff. Not to mention, they took FOUR months to transfer my transcripts.

Great school, I personally go here, they have excellent staff and a very clean school. Recommend to anyone needing an education. Everyone including students are friendly and helpful.

All star Mrs. Blair (Advising Dept) ,!!!! SW is a Great college with outstanding customer service but Blair showed this in every way ;she Went over and beyond to assist my child . It’s hard to find people with this kind of patience. Thank You Mrs. Blair 😆😁 for showing so much compassion and patience For young adults that’s looking for a high education. Hats 🎩 Off to You!!!

This is the worst college experience I’ve had in my life. For the 2 years I attended this college I’ve cried every semester, due to the lack of organization and unprofessionalism. I have missed 2 semesters of college because of their own mistakes. A check was sent to pay off my last semester and they lost the check for months!!! And then took their time processing the check! I wouldn’t recommend this college to anyone.

Go to Northwest. These people are absolutely ridiculous. I understand Covid is stopping a lot of things, but it’s ridiculous how rude the staff is. You can’t get anything done unless you email 5+ different people, and also call. The staff refuses to do their job, and get mad when you ask them to do it.

The kites in the spring time in this education is a hobby,but when you sent in such a way the varied perception on being beautiful. Truly,that purpose when secured non -lost contributed ambitions,and found the I see you from the interstate heard by a passenger beside you all caught the numbers once a number wasnt . Visit the site, or the actually long half hours . The colored where abouts by remainder stencils, or a highlighted trip with Google maps. In the parking lot of Southwest Tennessee I.believe in college.

Order your books from Chegg! Super unprofessional! There are a few great instructors, but this institution as a whole is a disgrace to all academic institutions! I placed an order for 2 textbooks. One was for ground shipping and the other to be overnighted. I needed the book to be overnight so I immediately emailed the bookstore AND called the next morning to cancel the ground order. I physically spoke to someone via email AND phone. I was assured the ground order was canceled. HA! I was charged for the overnighted book(that didn’t arrive until the next week due to the bookstore worker admitting she “looked over ” the overnight status) AND FOR THE BOOK THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CANCELLED. Since the book that was SUPPOSED to be overnighted(ordered Thursday) did not arrive until TUESDAY OF THE NEXT WEEK, I of course received a ZERO for the work I missed due to not having a textbook.

Ummm let me just start off that this is a horrible school. Every employee here seems to be opinionated instead of helping you, like they should! They must not get paid enough to have some decency and giving quality services. Every person Ive encounter here has been rude to me. Dont recommend it here, even if youre getting two years for free. Just not worth it. Sorry not sorry.

Interstructure staffing problems at both locations. Ive personal witness it when my daughter registered. Poor preparation for registration of students. Lack of respect for students, shown by last registration for aid at both Macon and Union. People were sitting on the nasty floor. Lunch room closed, only vending machine available. Lack of respect for students time. We waited five hours. My daughter was already registered. Her classes were purged. Adm lady said she dont know why that happened. No preparation for children attending the parents school registration. Little kids running around the registration area. That was dangerous. Kids would ask to use the bathroom to their parents. Then theyd run around the place. Their kids, they got tired of sitting down in one place , and dinner time came and went. Parents doing what they can. Would I recommend this school? No. I feel it lacks class, organization and respect for the main ones who are paying the bills. No.

Financial aid@macon wait time is extremely ridiculous. I came in 2pm and the young lady next to me had been sitting since 9:45 and still was not called until 3. Absolutely absurd. I can’t assume that I know what the ladies were doing. Only negative thoughts when you have over 60 people in the waiting area and your #is in the 200s and they are only in the 90s. They are chatting amongst themselves and no one sitting in front of them; it becomes quite disturbing and pushes you away from getting anything done. Like I said, I can’t claim that I know what the ladies are doing on the computer but it seems like the main goal of getting people out of here is not a priority. I feel so sorry for some of the people around me that have to work or took time off work to get this completed today. Love the campus but this department needs some direction. Send help right away!! You know you have failed when people leave feeling discouraged.

Sadly Southwest has a lack of care for their students & their education. Financial aid and administrative staff are completely unorganized and cause unnecessary stress and problems for their students every semester. Look at their numbers as far as student retention & those that complete/graduate their programs. Those numbers are low because of Southwest CC staff and admins. I support the use of community colleges for higher ed but I highly recommend you avoid this school if at all possible.

So I’m seeing all these negative posts about southwest and I think these people are telling that I should stay away from there. Looks like imma regret going there if it’s actually true

The advising staff we have dealt with so far, most especially Ms. Mea , have been awesome, engaged with my student and truly interested that she get the best classes, best professors and best schedule to meet her school and work needs. Other than the lines are often long (some students procrastinate!) its been a pleasure to go to the adviser!

Staff and Faculty is extremely unhelpful and just plain rude. I have been trying to get enrolled and registered for about 8 months and have received ZERO help. They dont answer emails. Or phone calls. A close friend of mine is having the same problem. They pay no attention to you whatsoever and when I finally went to the campus to speak to someone in person, they were rude and snappy. The only reason people go here is because its cheap and fairly easy education. I dont like being negative but this school needs a MAJOR attitude adjustment.

The bald light skin man with glasses at the cashiers office has always had an attitude problem. He seems miserable at work tbh. “Yes sir, no sir, thank you” doesn’t matter if you are polite, he is still stale and appearing annoyed that you want to pay in cash. Just poor customer service. Yes that’s right, students paying for a service that is education, are still customers. A simple your welcome would have been appreciated. Just affirms my speculation that you were annoyed you had to do your job and not afraid to show it. All he needs is more training. I’m sure he can improve

Following in the footsteps of every public Memphis school, this is school is absolutely awful.My husband was unable to go to the Summer Term because Admissions wouldnt return his phone calls or emails. I tried to apply for the Fall Term and got the same runaround he got: Thats not my department, email this person. Email that person get no reply for a week. And calling them doesnt solve anything.Also their graduation rate is 3%. THREE PERCENT. Do not waste you time or money.

Southwest Tennessee Community College has some of the best classes and professors. Most will bend over backwards to help as long as you are interested in success. However, be forewarned, the admissions, records, and financial aid offices are manned by uncaring, lying, lazy, and unprofessional employees. My advice for new students would be to bring an advocate, such as a parent. The school knows parents wont take such abuse as their children would if by themselves.

The staff is AWFUL. They are rude so rude and give you the run around. The curriculum isnt all that great. Its as if the teachers, the financial aid department, and admissions staff hates their job. Nobody asked you to work there. I transferred this semester primary because of the staff. It took me 3 months to hear anything back from an advisor. I took classes i didnt even need. Spend your money elsewhere. The school I attend now is cheaper and more than willing to help. Please think before attending this school

This place is trash! The administrative staff and the instructors are worthless and do the BARE MINIMUM. No one seems to care about their job or the students. Takes weeks for anyone to respond to emails, phone calls or get things done. Im glad I am done dealing with this place and will NEVER have anything to do with them again.

It is a good community college to go to, for learning purposes only. Unfortunately, the environment seems to resemble more of a high school than anything. But, the curriculum is great.

The negative reviews here are very accurate. My experience with the financial aid office and admissions office have been horrible. I have had paperwork lost and my financial aid never seems to be processed in time for my next semester so I always end up having to pay with my credit card up front. If it was not for the tuition price and the excellent teachers at the school, I would not have come here. They should fire everyone working in those offices and hire people who would actually know what they are doing because this is getting ridiculous.

I enjoy my time here. Teachers and staff help those that try and are prepared. Im sure that many of the negative reviews and experiences are from those that I have witnessed wanting someone to hold their hand and dont want to do the work. This is college, not an extension of childhood folks.

Honestly the staff at Southwest gives the school a bad name. Its not really the teachers its more of the financial aid department (Petty-Jones & another lady by the name of Crystal). They will make a error on their end, and then try to blame you for it and wont ever fix it! I was very fortunate to get another financial aid specialist to handle my case. What he did was what I had begged Petty-Jones to do. It put me a semester back from school all because she wouldnt do one simple thing!!!! Honestly I would definitely recommend another school, because some of the employees at Southwest financial aid department is unprofessional and very rude! SOUTHWEST IS NOT YOUR BEST CHOICE!

This is the worst school I could have ever been to. I was signing up for my summer class, while I was signing up I check with my adviser to see if the classes was right for me to go to and then in the middle of the classes there this one class that was so hard and I couldnt understand why so I talk to my teacher and she ask whats my first class I was taking, I told her and she told me I was in the wrong class so she told me she will email some people to see who I should talk to, to see if I can get my refund. So I went to each person that work there and also went to the administrator no one could help me or get my refund. So now my $8 hundred something dollars is down the drain I will NEVER come back to this school ever again, Im so pissed off on how can employees live with there self taking my hard working money away from me, this life we live in is hard as it is and to make it a lot harder for me makes it stressful SOUTHWEST ISNT YOUR BEST CHOICE!!!!!

This school is horrible, most of the staff here are horrible and just there to get a paycheck...i took a Maymester class this past May and they dropped me the week before the class ended and it literally took me 3-days to get put back into the class...one good thing i can say about this school is that there are a few staff members who are very helpful and nice, but overall Ive wasted my time here and Im so ready to leave this school.(p.s. think twice before going here because this school will mess you up)

I graduated from here in 2006 and I can certainly admit that coming here was by far the biggest mistake in my life. The associates degree opened ZERO doors in the job market. I had to earn another degree from UoM to even be considered for a job and mind you, that was 10 years ago. I can only imagine how terrible things are now. Take my word and avoid this. You get what you pay for at the end of the day...

Crappy school. The staff are mostly people from ghetto hoods especially the people in the Administration Office. This school is a great example on why to avoid Memphis Colleges and Universities.

My experience at Southwest was okay when I attended (for only a small amount of time). You have people that want to help verses those whos there for just a check and to look good. Financial Aid person was very thorough and nice, even my counselor was nice. It turned into a nightmare because some guy they hired had my info mixed with someone else, charge me for out of state when I was staying in the city memphis. The school itself needs updating as far as using your ID card to purchase your books, some of the staff was ghetto, unprofessional. Their was a lot of procrastination when it came to getting a chromebook and purchasing books. I left and attended Northwest in Senatobia, MS. Northwest is GREAT!!!! 20 thumbs down to this school....

The advisers are horrible my 4 instructors are fine. It is admissions and financial aid. Dont ever deal with Petty-Jones in the financial aid department. She is very unreliable then gets mad when you criticize her abilities to execute her job tasks.

Had useful time

They put three holds on my account between the months of June and November. One for a tax questionnaire, another for change of address, and the third one because they honestly think I owe them $550 for being registered a week in the Fall after their financial aid specifically told be to register so I could get my financial aid. Now not only do I have to fix that but I also cant withdraw from Spring classes because of the hold which means if it doesnt get done before classes start theyre gonna charge me once again. The school is a complete joke.
