Brought instrument in for tune up in the middle of the summer, they had a backlog because summer is their busiest time but gave a very accurate timeline as to when I would get instrument back. Got it back a week into school the day before my daughter needed it. They did a very good job on it. Just be prepared and take it in early.

Contacted them late in the day to ask if they had a specific microphone stand in stock. They did. They offered to stay open late if we could come pick it up. Ended up buying the stand 10 minutes after they normally close, and for less than you can find it online. Very pleased with the experience. Would recommend.

Ive been to Dunkleys a couple times for guitars, and theyve always been helpful. This last time I went, I was in search of an electric guitar for jazz band. Their selection was slim at this time, but we found the perfect guitar at a great price. It was actually marked down by a lot because they left some of their guitars on sale even after Black Friday, so I really scored! I recommend Dunkleys for sure, especially when it comes to guitars. 😄

Technician Paul was on time, friendly, so knowledgeable about what he was doing. My piano was tuned beautifully and he played part of my favorite tune! I’ve already made my appointment for next year’s tuning of the piano.

Oh my goodness! Nate & Austin were such fabulous piano movers! Not only were they dressed professionally but they moved a 7 ft grand piano from house #1 to house #2 AND then a 4 ft grand from house #2 to house #3 ~ handling each piano with tender loving care & extending great patience & great professional help on where to place each piano. They were both personable and kind and worked very hard in doing a fabulous job. (I joked that after all that lifting, chiropractic care & massage therapy should be included their medical insurance! ) I highly recommend Dunkley Musuc for moving pianos! 👍

My wife of 17 years has always wanted a baby grand piano. This year I was able to grant her wish. Weve had an upright Yamaha for 15 years, and it was time to upgrade. I looked on the used market for a while, and went back and forth to various music stores.Melody was a breeze to work with -- she immediately showed us all the pianos in our price range, answered all of our questions, and made a proposal for a new Essex EGP-155 we couldnt refuse. We were VERY close to buying a Yamaha GBLK at Welches but decided on the Essex because my wife liked the tone better. We also wanted recording and silent capabilities, and Melody showed us the QRS add on for acoustic pianos, which Id never heard of and was exactly what we were looking for. Pianos are EXPENSIVE and I wanted to make the right choice. Melody put all my concerns to rest, and is very personable. It felt like we were in good hands.

I have only good things to say about Dunkley music! We have bought music and a viola from there. The service was exceptional. They are honest and fair. The instrument was quality. Being a student instrument it held up through 4 kids and is still in fantastic shape. We did get their warranty and had to use it once from a little accident we had. They made the repair no questions asked, quickly and did an amazing job. I would definitely recommend buying or renting anything from them!

We love going to Dunkley Music. We live three hours outside of Boise and we make it a point to stop by when we come to the city. The Dunkley people are welcoming and supportive and the folks upstairs in the repair shop are incredibly helpful.

There are some great people running this store! I felt very welcome when I visited. In addition, the instrument repair techs here have a high level of skill and are doing some really fantastic work.

Dunkley Music is by far the best instrument source in Boise. I travelled around town to over half a dozen shops looking for a Baritone Ukulele. This store had the best Uke selection by FAR. Add to the fact I was barely in the door and I was given a tuner and told if I needed anything to let them know. Not that the tuner was really needed, of the dozen or so ukuleles I picked up and played almost all of them were already darn near in tune. I found a mahogany Kala that looked great and sounded amazing.As an FYI, there is an decent markup on the instruments I saw and priced the same model on-line. If you are looking for a budget music shop, this isnt it, however I was happy to pay the markup for the convenience of being able to try out the instrument before buying and walk out the door with it in hand once I made my decision. There are plenty of options (at least in the Ukulele section) for almost any budget and price point.

The staff at Dunkley Music is very knowledgeable and always helpful every time I go in. If they do not have what Im looking for they get it ordered. My grandson loves taking drum lessons here and I love going to his recitals at their Recital Hall right at the store! I have no reason to go anywhere else.

The Nampa location is great. Helpful, knowledgeable, experienced. I brought in a violin i bought, and wanted it checked out. So it was sent to their luthier, a fella called Rand. This dude needs social interaction lessons. What a rude, short tempered jackal. If you like being talked to in a demeaning and belittling way, have your string instrument looked at by Rand. If you like normal, socially accepted treatment, avoid Dunkley or, more precisely, Rand.

During a recent major move to Houston Texas from Nampa Idaho I was in the market for professional piano moving services and was frustrated at not finding an affordable service. I tried Angies List but only found ridiculously expensive services that were out of state and not practical for our situation. My wife suggested I call Dunkley Music for a referral. I spoke with Randy who informed me that they typically only handle across town moves and what the rates would be. I told Randy I really just needed someone who could load the piano carefully and professionally into a moving truck that I would drive myself to Texas. The problem then became renting a piano board vs. buying a piano board. After some more creative brainstorming we decided that I would rent the board for a nominal $20 and then I would pay to ship the board back to Dunkley after the move to Texas (only $75 via UPS). Brilliant!! What impressed me the most was that Randy trusted me to return the piano board in a timely manner and didnt charge a deposit or raise the price of the rental fee. Instead, Randy thoughtfully considered how to best help a guy out on a budget. At the end I spent several hundred dollars, but saved literally a couple thousand over the professional movers on AL. Way to go Dunkley Music, your customer service exceeded my expectations!

They are always good to give me a price quote before any work is done, and seem to always get instruments returned on time (even when the shop is very busy and backed up). I have such gratitude for Lisa Larimore and the entire staff at Dunkley Music. When I was involved in an automobile accident, my Bach trumpet was badly damaged. Although I had come to rely on their great repair shop for ultrasonic cleanings and routine repairs, I was nevertheless impressed by the help I received. They loaned me a good horn, and Lisa was able to complete a very touchy repair in only a few days. For their willingness to give me a loaner, for prioritizing my horn, and for Lisas expert repair, Ill always be thankful.

My wife, son, and I went to Dunkleys to do a little piano shopping as we had sold her piano a few years back and have now moved into a new home and have space again. Spent 10 minutes walking around looking at the various options without so much as a hello from anyone working there. Noone seemed overly busy but neither did they seem interested in helping us. Love supporting local but if you do not want my business you will not get it.

We owned a Baldwin Model L Grand built in 1974 for more than forty years that served us well. Over the last three years it seemed to go out of tune more frequently and started to have other problems like uneven touch and tone. Jared Phelps of Dunkley Music had tuned the piano for several years and tactfully said it was starting to show it’s age of 45 years. In addition, both Jared and our teacher, Peggy Purdy, told us our taste has become more perceptive and thus we were noticing changes that had likely been happening earlier. Jared said he could try to repair and replace parts in the Baldwin but couldn’t guarantee it would be satisfactory to us. He did suggest, again tactfully, that a Steinway Grand Model B would be a big improvement for us. Peggy agreed and arranged for us to meet Melody Johnson at the store in Meridian.We made an appointment to meet Melody and tried several pianos on the floor. Jared was with us and offered his opinions on each one. Later we were taken to Mark Dunkley’s home to try out another Steinway Model B that was for sale. Our favorite was quickly narrowed down to a Steinway Model B in the Dunkley Music recital hall, which we did purchase. Peggy came in to give it her blessing and Dunkley’s “master finisher” Jim Butler assured us several minor cosmetic issues could be taken care of to our satisfaction. Mark gave us a quote for the Baldwin as a trade-in.During all this time we never felt pressured to make a decision and were impressed with the teamwork of Mark, Melody and Jared. A date was suggested for delivery but during a conversation with Melody we mentioned we had a recital in our home scheduled, however we were happy to play the Baldwin so they wouldn’t be rushed. Mark heard about this and immediately changed gears asking everyone to get the piano ready, move it to our home and have it tuned before the recital, which miraculously they all did! We especially want to commend the two movers, Chance Heaps and Seth Sturgeon, who made the entire exchange of pianos and set up look like a carefully choreographed dance.We are delighted with our 2014 Steinway Model B and have enjoyed becoming acquainted with this beautiful instrument. The whole experience of letting go of our old, but beloved, Baldwin, and making the leap to embrace a new piano was exhilarating and pleasant. We would highly recommend Dunkley’s to anyone interested in buying a piano. They have great selection and couldn’t be more professional.

These guys are great. Rand in the repair shop gave me awesome service around Christmas time. I asked if he would be able to fix a violin I bought at thrift shop within a week (a little more than a week before Christmas) and he said he was very busy, but he would do what he could. 4 days later it was ready for under $120.Not to mention the people at Teleford and sons told me the violin was not worth fixing, and we’re trying to turn me onto one of their new $400 instruments.Overall Dunkley was very trustworthy and affordable compared to other retailers in the valley. This business is much more deserving of your business than Teleford and Sons. 5 stars!

I had 2 guys from Dunkleys out to move a piano for me on 10/28/18 and they did a great job! I wouldnt trust just normal movers to move a piano, trust these guys! The guys were efficient and went above and beyond! Would definitely recommend Dunkleys.

I was looking to purchase a professional trumpet. I wasnt too sure exactly which one I wanted, so an employee at dunkley put me in a practice room and brought 15 trumpets for me to try. They were incredibly accommodating and helpful. When you are making an important and expensive decision like this, its nice to be able to focus on the instruments and not the customer service.

Dunkley Music is off-the-chart awesome in my book. Heres why:1. Service. I left an instrument at home when I packed to drive down to a gig in Logan, Utah. Yes, you read correctly, I FORGOT MY INSTRUMENT (and Im a band director, btw)! I realized this when passing Boise, and immediately went to Dunkley. I was able to rent a nice Yamaha model 450 clarinet to take to my gig--à concert band gig, and I played a 3rd clarinet part. I brought it back on the way back home and saw the cool digital pianos in stock.2. Service (and selection). Dunkley has always had a good reputation as a piano dealer. They did not disappoint in this area.3. Robert Hatvani works there as a teacher. Incredible musician and teacher, and his music is first-rate.You will be treated well at Dunkley Music!

When I went to buy music books for my daughter, they discussed several lines of books with me and helped me decide which would fit her personality best. Their sheet music selection is extensive, and beyond that, their staff are incredibly friendly and professional. Any time I order music through them, it arrives in a very timely manner. Any time I call or come in with a question about music, they have a quick, helpful answer for me. I have also used their recital hall dozens of times for studio recitals, senior recitals, and rehearsals. They have a great system for loaning out the keys and I have always found the recital hall in perfect condition, not to mention the two 9 Steinways in the recital hall are a huge treat for performers to play on. Dunkley also has a great selection of pianos and other instruments, and many of my students and colleagues have had great experiences purchasing instruments from them. I would recommend Dunkley music to anyone, even if you have a 20-25 minute drive to get there like I do, its worth it!

This store has repair shop in it, and their service is great. My son plays alto saxophone, and he complaied that some screws seems loose, and G# and E flat are muffled when he played them. I took the instrumentand to the store, and it took less than 20 minutes to get it fixed. The best part is that they didn’t charge for it :)

I bought an old upright piano from a friend. Moving was going to be an issue as I have tight corners to negotiate. Having some interactions with a variety of music places I knew who I didnt want to hire, but not who to hire. Called Dunkleys for a referral, not having read the whole Website. Lucky for me, they do move pianos. Nicely done... no nicks in the walls, polite and considerate young men, and great interactions on the phone to set it up. Wow. Following the move, I was sure it needed to be tuned. Again called Dunkleys for service. Again met with charm and planning on the first phone call. It turns out, I didnt need to be tuned and in fact it may not have served my best interest to do so. The honesty, integrity and polite interactions of this whole process was amazing. Service with a smile is not dead.

Staff greet you with a smile, and are very knowledgeable. They helped me find the correct requirements for my child’s student instrument, especially for this non musical mother.

My family has been going through Dunkley Music to tune our pianos for ages.Paul is one of the best tuners that I know of and has done a fabulous job on mine.If you want quality service and the most knowledable associates, Dunkley is the place to go.

Been in there several times and been very happy with the customer service, selection and prices. Ask for Esteban, he kills it; amazingly knowledgeable and super friendly.

Dunkleys is a great music/instrument store. We have purchased violins, trumpets, french horns, and pianos from them. Very satisfied with the service and pricing, and the staff is top notch. Highly recommend.
