Randall cleaned up my 30yr. old silver Holton trumpet and even worked out a few dents to get it ready right on time for my daughter to start school band. Took a couple guitars for set up and to repair a seriously cracked neck on one. Randall did an outstanding repair on the neck and two excellent cleaning and set up jobs, including cleaning the electronics to get a very clean sound back. Hes very good, knowlegeable, skilled, conscientious, service oriented and fun to work with. Highly recommended.

Brought in a classic acoustic Gibson for repair and consignment. It took a long time to sell, but they never gave up. Nice people dedicated to their profession. Great location near a great tamale joint. High quality equipment for sale and expert repairs.

Normally the knock it out of the park but I bought a 7 string electric guitar from them that is unplayable due to fret issues and took it in twice to get my frets filed after I had bought the guitar and it is still unplayable to this very day.

Went in to buy my first accoustic guitar! The guy working was absolutely amazing and super helpful. I wish I would have caught his name, but I was so excited! I will definitely be going back for all of my future musical needs!

I don’t personally play an instrument but my daughter decided that she wanted to play the viola. They were more than helpful in educating me and my daughter on what she needs. We were even able to rent the viola so she can try it out. Thank you for being so informative!

OK so here is the deal, I have known and gone to Buchanans Music since I was about 16 years old. I am now 24 and the quality of work that come out of this shop is Fantastic and has never done me wrong once!!. They are great and easy to work with, and the customer service is second TO NONE (and Im really picky just ask them aha). Rush the lead guitar tech even lets me play my guitar for a few minutes after he sets it up just to see if he needs to tweak it for me!. The whole staff is super knowledgeable about gear how its made and everything it can and cant do. There really is no complaint about this shop except for They USED and I stress USED to have a stock of not so great guitars. That Being said the newest Addition to the staff Todd Staples Has completely changed that around With the new addition of G&L guitars and Other guitars that are hand picked By Todd. (He also personally plays everything before he give the OK on putting it in the shop). As I have grown up through the years, I love this shop more and more. To the point where me and my cousin Andrew Will not let anyone else work on our stuff.One more thing about them is its not just guitars, Almost all woodwinds, brass, and Stringed instruments they work on and Rent out! and they are just as knowledgeable about those as well.I mean if your looking for a Privately owned Local NO BS shop that shoots it straight and treats you like an actual valued customer instead of selling you junk for a hiked up price Then this place will quickly become your new home!-Ryan

Wow, what can I say.. This place has really fallen apart the past year. They got rid of their best luthier they’ve ever had, and they put a complete rookie as “head” luthier. What a joke.The owner, I think his name is Robert, is a complete chump and tries to get every dollar out of you as a customer.This place is falling quick and I do not recommend this music store any more. There are plenty of other great music stores nearby if you look.

I am revising my review after this business has “made things right” after a series of disappointments over the past few weeks. As all small businesses are prone to at some point, I experienced a few significant mishaps in customer service recently. However, upon notification of the problems, the manager quickly went out of his way to correct the problems and restore my confidence in this business. The reparations have been more than fair and I am impressed by the humility and sincerity of the management of Buchanan Music. This is a small business I am happy to support and am grateful to the management for the steps they took to correct things!

Buchanans music is simply THE BEST! Ive been a musician since 14 and have been going there for over ten years now along with my father who had been going there before when he use to play music. For me, Buchanan is THE ONLY PEOPLE ILL LET TOUCH ANY OF MY GUITARS PERIOD! It goes far beyond just great work with these guys, the customer service aspect is equally great and there is no B.S when you speak to them. They tell you exactly what is wrong, what there going to do for you and can assist you with knowing more about your guitar, other guitars or equipment in general. And if they cant help you, they point you in the direction of those who can. Rush Harley is the lead tech there and truly works magic with repairing guitars, bass, violins and many other instruments. Tod Staples has been working there for the last 2 years and hes been able to considerably upgrade there guitar selection from acoustics to electrics. So now not only can you go in there to have these guys fix your favorite guitar, but now can purchase a great guitar from there as well. One last point to make, even guitar center, Milanos and other guitar shops through out the valley along with some surrounding states will send stuff in to get repaired from these guys. ENOUGH SAID! These are great people working here doing the best work around.

Im a new guitar player and dont know much about maintenance or repair, and anymore most stores will take advantage of this, but not this store. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they are completely honest, are extremely nice, and I was in and out within 15 minutes. I didnt catch the name of the man who repaired my guitar but he was extremely helpful, taught me what to do if the problem happens again, and even gave me a mini guitar lesson on the spot. To top it all off, he didnt charge me for it except for some strings that I bought. I highly recommend Buchanan Music for any repair or purchases, Im a loyal customer if you treat me right, and Im definitely coming back many times.

I brought my Gibson Explorer in for a nut replacement and full setup. The pricing was very reasonable; the grand total was less than what I had been quoted for JUST the nut replacement at two other shops. My guitar plays like it did when I first got it. Rush did an excellent job. I highly recommend.

I went to the repair shop at Buchanans expecting to need a new neck for my Fender Precision bass guitar. Timothy checked it out and said that he thought he could straighten the neck out for me. He did that and then set the bass up for me. He delivered the bass in pristine condition before the expected delivery date.I have to recommend this shop because of quality service, expertise and timely delivery.

Friendly and personable, local, small business. I liked being able to see what I was purchasing. Something we cant do with online purchases. For me, it was worth supporting this local store.

I have two children in school. I have rented a couple cellos, a violin, a drum kit and a trombone from them so far. Weve needed a couple minor repairs (kids are hard on things) and those went smoothly. I shopped around in the beginning and originally picked them for the price and the fact that they had what I needed when I called.I would definately recommend them for school age instrument rentals.

Since this place is the only authorized Ibanez repair store in the valley, I took my guitar for troubleshooting, 15 minutes later i was out with the guitar in my hand and a big smile on my face. The gentlemen were friendly and very professional.Thanks again, the guitar plays better than it ever did!Highly Recommended !!

They helped me out so much when Milanos couldnt! They are super nice and Rush, their technician in the back, even stayed after hours to help me get my tuba bits unstuck before I left on a band trip this week. And they didnt just give methemoglobin either, he helped me understand why it happened and how to prevent it. You guys are the bomb and the best in the valley!

I really hate to leave a negative review for a locally owned business - but I had a very poor experience here and want to warn anyone else that is considering Buchanan Music for a guitar repair or installation.I brought my new acoustic in to have a strap nut installed. The installation was performed, but the nut was installed at a terrible off-angle, with the result completely crooked. I was totally frustrated by the result.Once the screw has gone into the neck heel, it cannot be re-done .. the install is permanent. To their credit, they refunded the installation - but too late to repair the guitar.If a simple strap nut cannot be installed correctly - it does not lend confidence to other work done at this shop, and cannot recommend Buchanan Music.

I took my new Martin in for setup. He took the action down way to low and obviously didnt play the guitar afterwards. Took it in a second time and no difference. Now I have to replace the saddle to get the action up enough to a playable level. Im taking it to a real luthier this time who will replace the saddle and the nut.Additionally, this business is completely amateur. The store is often closed during posted hours and they dont answer their phone. The young Luthier claims to be a Master Luthier; evidently not true. Dont take your fine instruments to this place.

Bought a Jackson Warrior from these guys... had to come back and spend a few hours with Rush Harley the resident Luthier. ..ripped out the old wiring and did a EMG 81/85 pup install! Sounds great now! also had to fix a couple of frets that were not quite right. This required a 1 on 1 meeting and repair.. adjust..play..adjust..play..adjust..play..adjust play... finally got it right... much better than leaving it with them and then picking it up only to find the problem would still be there! Now the set-up on it really ROCKS!!! thanks Rush Harley!

I apologize for not checking to see if my previous review was submitted successfully, (as it was not), but Ill let my true story carry on from here.Back in the last part of January, I had a Martin OMCPA3 Acoustic that was in desperate need for a serious adjustment. I live up here in Page, Arizona near Utah, and was contemplating on making a 4.5 hour drive to Mesa. I looked over the reviews, wrote an email about my frustration and got in touch with Jonathan, who was very well spoken and assured me that they would take great care of the guitar. I explained to them that I had been taking my guitars to Flagstaffs AZ Music Pro, and was dissatisfied with their treatment, and lack of quality for taking care of my guitars. I soon got a reply from Jonathan, who didnt hesitate to explain the conditions and prices. The email was also pretty long and not rushed either. This was a building of trust for me. Anyhow, long story short, I had family make the drive down to the Valley and they met up with the Staff. My family had compliments about how well they were treated, as well as my guitar. Jonathan greeted them and he treated my instrument with care, like it was his own. He did the initial setup himself and explained some instructions for my family to tell me. As they returned, the guitar was flawless, great action and feel. He also followed up with an email asking how the guitar was playing, and explained some further instruction on how to do an initial setup if I was willing to. They communicated well and offered great customer service care and support. I highly recommend this shop. I am planning on bringing most of my guitars down when I get the chance to go down to the valley. The guitar to this day is still playing like a champ. I am comfortable with following the Instructions given, and doing the adjustments on my own. Great place, service, and products!!

I recently received my new baby, my fender jazzmaster. I am extremely OCD about my guitars, i am a perfectionist and want things done right by someone who understands and lets me explain what needs to be done on my guitar. I read about Buchanan Music and read the reviews about Rush- i immediately called him and jumped in my car with my guitar. I walked in and the staff was welcoming, and was taken back where i met Rush. We shook hands and he listened while i explained my concerns and things that i wanted to be done on it. I was mainly concerned about my neck being warped, and he immediately took the guitar and started measuring it with a ruler right then and there! He started playing it and noticed some fret buzzing, which i have no doubt will be fixed. Immediately i felt at ease knowing that my guitar was in good, CARING hands! This guy knows what he is doing, just by talking to him once i had that impression. It is being worked on still and am even writing a review and havent even gotten my guitar back yet! thats how good i felt about this place. I own a Takamine Ean10cx. Bought it new back in 2003. It sounds really well and Ive always played it unplugged. I started using it to record music but the sound quality was really poor. I brought the guitar to a shop ( not Buchanan Music ) and explained the situation with the instrument. I ended up leaving the shop with a DI box to improve the sound quality ... It did not work at all.I emailed Takamine about the issue and got a reply from customer support recommending that I bring the guitar to Buchanan music and so I did.The staff were professional and efficient. The took my instrument removed the preamp and quickly diagnosed what the problem was.I had the guitar back within a couple of hours and I was not charged for the service !Plugged it in to my soundboard and recorded some music.It was perfect. I highly recommend Buchanan Music. It was my first visit to this shop and I got the highest quality of service.Thank you.
