My daughter used to go there 3 years back and she still talks about how horribly she was treated here. She was 5 by then and didnt communicate much to us that time, but she used to stay upset and quite before going to school, and used to be sad all the time, We put her to a different school and her behavior totally changed after that, she started enjoying her school. Her teacher was extremely rude to kids and kids used to get scared of her. Never recommending this place to anyone.

Step By Step welcomed our two kids to their facility with open arms! When our son stopped napping at the previous daycare, and they werent providing an alternative for that time, we felt pressured to move to a different daycare. In speaking with Beth Austad, Director, she assured us that the Montessori method and Step By Step provides options for kids to nap, or participate in other activities no matter the age. The Montessori teachers and support staff were engaged, helpful and made sure our kids, and us parents, adapted to the Montessori methods. Thanks to the amazing teachers, our two kids gained a fantastic foundation in math, letter recognition, geography, Spanish and music. The extra curricular activities of Soccer Shots, Dance and Stretch and Grow were also nurturing and helpful in their development. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience and our 4 year old would still be attending if we didnt have to relocated for my husbands job. We will always be thankful for our time at Step By Step!

My son attended step-by-step and Im not sure if Im happy about it. Nice and well experienced teachers but I dont like the way they operate the school. They like to keep adding the children to a class no matter if they have enough teachers. My son very well knew phonic sound of all letters by 3 but he was introduced to reading only 4.5 only and I would say he was lost in the crowd. Below are the pros and cons.Cons: 25 to 35 kids in a very small class room. Teacher to students ratio very poor and so not possible to give enough attention to a child. 1 lead and 2 assistants for a class room to manage 25-35 kids. Lead Teachers looked stressed at the end of the day. assistant teachers are not sufficient enough and a very high turnover on assistant teachers.Pros: Well experienced lead teachers and Montessori method of teaching.

From our first tour of the facility to dropping my nearly 9-month old son off this morning, we have absolutely loved our experience with Step by Step in Edina. It feels like every teacher in the school knows and cares about my boy, whether they work in the infant room or with the older kids. He is loved and challenged and encouraged every day, and honestly, what more could a parent hope for than that?

This business does not pay employees a living wage. Full Time teachers with a masters degree making $10 an hour is a joke. People have been fired from this establishment without even being told. They often dont have a sufficient number of qualified staff (by law, no less) to care for the children. Should I go on?

My daughter just finished up her last day with Step By Step in Edina and is off to Kindergarten (and son two years prior). Both kids loved their teachers and time with SBS - its hard to say goodbye. I cannot say enough good things about our SBS experience and the value provided. Their execution of the Montessori model is phenomenal - its such an engaging, nurturing and fun learning environment for the kids. The result, happy kids FULLY prepared to head off to school! We had two previous childcare experiences and they were both pretty good, but SBS is on a completely different level. SBS, youve meant so much to my kids and our family, THANK YOU so very much!

We transitioned to SBS Southdale last summer and have loved every second of it! We have been to two other centers in the area, both fine and provided good care, but none have come close to what weve experienced at SBS. We were thrilled to get a spot (call early!) - and have never looked back. My oldest will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, and in a matter of 10 months has gone from a very early reader to reading 2nd grade level books! She was welcomed into her new group of peers and has made fantastic friends that we will be sad to leave. My youngest is two and transitioned easily due to the love and creativity of the toddler teachers. Weve joked that we would go live in an apartment if thats what it took to afford SBS - thats how important it has become to our family. The teachers have much longer tenure at SBS than anywhere weve seen, which has made it feel like an extended family. THANK YOU for the outstanding care you provide to our girls, and for all the love youve shown to us as a new family.
