Great if online only option. Note Not all professors helpful or willing to work with students. I had one professor notified in advance of a concern before class began of a deadline concern...polite but unwilling to bend time frame or offer alternative solution, just gave failing grade.Another professor did not read emails-left one concerning a turned in assignment that there was a technical error. Waited 4 days for response.still have not received a response to that email, office number did not take calls or let you leave voice message. Was given a zero, and sent an email that assignment was not there.

Deceptive and biased admissions system.Despite having my international transcripts sent to them, their evaluation of my GPA was a whole grade point lower than that given to me by a professional evaluator. Conveniently, the GPA they gave me just about allowed me admission on their MS course! They consistently ignored all my requests to investigate this. Ironically, the course I applied for wanted ME to outline my own cultural biases! What a joke! If you have international qualifications, be very careful. I felt as though they gave me a low GPA purely so I would too humiliated to apply to other universities.I have reported to them to the ombudsman. Thankfully, the admissions advisor was so utterly rude and useless, I had started to look around anyway. Any good university wont have an in-house team to assess your transcripts, a good university will ask you to have this done through an accredited company. Also, a good admissions advisor doesnt hang up and leave voicemails every time they connect to your phone and a good admissions advisor will take your through the course and applications process with great details, care and attention. Sorry, too ,many red flags and frankly their reviews speak for themselves. Avoid at all costs!

I spoke with an admissions counselor and after several emails, text and conversations, I explained that I was going to wait to enroll until I had received approval from my employer for employee educational assistance. I was then told I could receive a free session/term without obligation. I explained I had a surgery upcoming and was concerned that I may not be able to complete the session. I was persuaded to enroll. Unfortunately I had surgical complications that resulted in a second surgery. I explained this to my student coach and admissions and was guided through withdrawing after less than one week of being enrolled. For months I was harassed by financial services for payment of the term. I was finally able to make them understand I was given the term free. A few months past and now all of a sudden I am notified of a technology fee. I called financial services and was told I have this situation all the time from students. I dont know if it is not being explained to students that free sessions do not include the technology fee. 🤔 so is this how Walden operates? Daggle a free term and forget to mention the cost that isnt covered? I call it deceitful. I emailed the admissions specialist and his supervisor neither have had the common curiosity or ethics to respond. Shameful.

I enrolled at Walden BA program in 2014 with 3 classes left to graduate I was in a car accident. I had to have 2 surgery’s so I notified the school several times and was told that I could come back once I was healed and continue with no problem. My account was sent to collections during this time and I was not notified. Once I paid the account in full to continue my education now they added 10 more classes. I went from 3 classes to graduate $7,000.00 to now having 10 classes $30,000.00. I have all conversations in ink with this school. This school is a total ripoff and I’m speaking with my lawyer to see what actions I can take because a student should be able to continue their educational program with out Walden removing some of their classes that They took and paid for saying it’s not required for this program so why was it part of my program scheduled classes. I will post more as this continues!

I think Walden is great & affordable but their diplomas look like something an employer would give their employee for getting employee of the month... the writing looks non-collegiate & the background of the diploma is some sort of pastel affect, which in all honesty, makes it look fake... hopefully they change them to make them look honorable & legitimate.

I went to Walden for my FNP. I did not finish and I would not suggest them to anyone ever. If I could I would give them a zero. I increased my student loan debt almost 30,000 to learn absolutely nothing! They expected me to read 9 chapters a week and multiple other documents then do a paper. I gained no knowledge from that school. Plus, for my pharmacology test/quizzes they werent even over pertinent stuff we learned majority was cancer medications. I feel like if I did graduate from NP school I would not know anything and is not safe for patient care at all! Worse school ever!

Don’t do it. It’s easier to get the ball rolling this way, but it’s 10x harder than just attending an in person class at a local university. First of all, the professors don’t create the class, someone else does. I’m not kidding you when I say more than half the assignments don’t even make since or apply to the real world. It takes hours upon hours to complete your work, and all you do is research and write. You don’t have time to research all they give you; so you just find your answers and hope you are answering the philosophical question that goes around and around correctly! The work load is not family friendly at all! I’m surprised more don’t talk about that!

Expensive for NO reason. Better off going to a brick and mortar because you get much more help with internship placement (which is the most important and stressful part of school). The skills lab residencies are expensive tuition wise and with personal travel. They’re tiring as well. Also, when the tuition decreased for others, my tuition stayed locked in at what I started with, including the cost of residency. I didn’t know a school could do that. I have a year left and I’m wishing I would’ve been tougher and chose CSUN online. I’d have better access to internships in Los Angeles for sure. Though I’ve found internships, the desirable ones are reserved for CA schools. I like the online structure though because it’s going to remain consistent, but that’s about it. You don’t get holiday breaks or breaks from homework. So do your research before choosing this school. Depending on your area, it may. Be worth it. It’s not a bad school, but its isn’t great either. In my case I should’ve waited for fall session for an online program at an in state university.

HelloI have a serious complaint against Walden university. I was a current student until March 11, 2021 when the university removed me from the university. Please also research the reviews of Walden via the internet by former and current students and you will see that many of them also have issues as I have. This is a pattern with this university and it needs to be stopped. I lost everything because of this university who is only after the money!! They use students and student loans to make millions by prolonging graduation so as to make a fortune. All the professors who are there are in on this. They care nothing about the students what so ever! Only money!!This University WALDEN UNIVERISTY threw me out of school for not checking two boxes on the Learning Agreement. I only had one and a half years to go to complete my degree in PhD Clinical Psychology. I only had my practicum and internship left to compete to graduate. I had a practicum site to begin in June, 2021, and the university would not let me complete it. They threw me out of school before I could even begin it. This university kept me in dissertation for 7 years, and made a fortune on me. They kept me in the school for 12 years making money after money on me, and now cannot even pay back my student loans because I have no degree. I am almost 600,000 dollars in student loan debt for a simple PhD in clinical psychology that should have taken between 3 to 5 years to complete after the master’s degree, but the university kept me in dissertation for 7 of those years and threatening to throw me out . I am now in this school for 12 years going on 13 years, and still have no degree as I just got the letter today that they are throwing me out of school because I did not check two boxes on the learning agreement! Every since I started this university they have put every obstacle imaginable in my path to prevent me from finishing this degree. It took me a few years even to find a practicum site because no clinics wanted to do business with this crooked university. This university cares only about the money!! My Dreams have been shattered!!! Stay away!!! Only a handful of states even recognize this university fir licensure! They have the worst reputation in the field snd no clinics will bring you on for field work coming from this university!! I am now in the process of suing this university. It needs to be shut down!!! It took me years to land the practicum I found .

I am very sad to be reading some of these posts that are extremely negative regarding Walden University. I will admit that in the beginning, I had a Chair that was not helpful, but I spoke with administration who assigned me another Chair that was fantastic, helpful, and patient. He guided me through tough moments but encouraged me every step of my journey. To achieve ones goals in the doctoral program, it takes time, dedication/commitment, sacrifice, and a willingness to be flexible in order to learn. The professors that I had possessed good credentials and were well established from major universities. I have since completed my doctorate with a specialization in Forensic Mental Health Science and have no regrets. My degree has been important to my professional credibility and work validity in the court room. I feel very sad for those individuals with such negative narratives. Graduation from the university, walking across the stage to receive my diploma, and celebrating the memory with my family and friends in attendance is a memory I hold dear. My thoughts? Put forth the effort, dont personalize human error (occurs at all levels with any venue and all universities), your positive attitude when communicating will enjoin others to respond positively to you. There were ups and downs but overall, this was a positive experience.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. Enrollment Advisors do not communicate effectively. As a transfer student, they are simply aiming to enroll students to increase numbers. Promises that classes will transfer only to find out they do not which results in starting over after being 50% complete with degree program. The information of classes not being transferred is released well into the current semester...then you’re stuck.

I do not recommend this university particularly for their graduate program in educational psychology. I was a PhD candidate at the school and because I gave Dr. Dexter a bad review (but an honest one as she was overloaded with students, 68 at one point and delaying the return of my work for 2 weeks each time in an 11 week course) she began holding me back. Indicated that my work was substandard even though up until that date I had nearly straight A’s in all my graduate coursework and undergraduate course work. If you’re going to do work here be careful what you say. The director Amy sided with Dr. Dexter and they, along with the methodology professor, Scott (the team of 3), made my life very difficult and my career came to a standstill. I transferred to CalSouthern Irvine and I’ve had straight A’s in 3 of the courses including abnormal psychology and I’ve had no issues and 100% support from University. I recommend CalSouthern as it is much more supportive. Additionally, you can work all online at your own pace and far less expensive than Walden University. Do not go to Walden University.

I recently completed my PMHNP. Tests were extremely difficult and students are not allowed to see missed questions. Walden makes the licensing process a nightmare. They give no instruction on the processes needed. It takes them 3-8 weeks to certify your transcript. Then it takes them at least three weeks to send off verifications. If your nursing board requires extra documentation add another 6 weeks. These are simple print and mail documents. If you plan to go with Walden dont plan to work for 5 months post graduation.

In the beginning there was alright communication with Walden’s admissions team. I inquired about enrollment, then the person called me a day later, I missed the call but returned it ASAP and left a message, it took then days to give me a call back, i had to email and leave multiple voicemails until I was able to talk to someone. After the enrollment process I asked how long it would be until I would receive an award notice. The enrollment specialist told me I usually have to accept an enrollment offer BEFORE I see how much I would be paying out of pocket. That should have been red flag 🚩 number one! After I told her that’s not correct and I will be waiting to receive an award, I get a notice that my award is available the next day but, I cannot view it until I accept my admissions offer. In the email it states directions on how to view the award letter without making a final decision, but the link was incorrect. I’m beginning to think that was a fake email to get me to accept the decision. I called the financial aid office to let them know the link was incorrect, they gave me false information by saying I should receive a login and PIN number in a few days even if i don’t accept the offer. It’s been a week I never received the login information or any other calls or emails from Walden. I have been trying to get in touch with them, it seems like I’ve been getting the run around, I will not be attending this grad program.

This is an honest review. I wanted to give Walden 2.5 stars as an (MSN-NP) alumna but thats not an option. The coursework is totally doable but most of the work is BUSY work. In the MSN program you tend to be so busy that there is little time to study for boards. The exams are not board pertinent questions so be ready to prepare on your own. Your advisor is worthless and she/ he probably wont even call you. (I heard from my advisor twice during my 2 years of attendance. ) After you graduate, you wont hear from anyone ever again and they will give no direction as far as becoming a licensed NP. Overall, be prepared to take on lots of student loan debt. Be prepared to figure out licensure for your state. Be prepared to have lots of busy work. Be prepared to study for boards with no preparation or assistance from Walden and be prepared to hear from your mentor or faculty infrequently. Still, its totally doable but my undergrad programs (for ASN and BSN) were so much better as neither were for profit schools. So, maybe thats why they actually cared and you heard from your advisor frequently. Either way, I wont be returning for my doctorate. My advice: Its doable but pray about your enrollment before you commit especially if you are the dependent type.

There is a lot of reading and writing in all of the courses I took. With each class, I developed the skills and knowledge to become a better writer at the graduate level. The online interactions with classmate was great. My colleagues were more than willing to communicate with me about their experiences. There was a few courses in which the enrollment were low, put the final capstone course reunited me with students I had interacted with previously. If you are pursuing a counseling degree- please go elsewhere! I transferred into Walden when I moved across the country. They refused to take the majority of my credits and gave no explanation as to why... one course it was simply because one word was not included in the course name (It was only called Family Systems, not COUPLES and Family Therapy). You have to do two week long residencies that require travel and maybe one location that is convenient for people who live on the West Coast. Then, they book it into one of the most expensive hotels- that they contract with- and costing an outrageous amount of money. I asked to book my second residency early due to being pregnant and knowing that I would be flight restricted during the appropriate timeline and was denied. Now, I have to take it later in the program. Most recently, Im having the most difficult of times with them regarding my internship. I plan to do my internship at my current workplace, they will not let me count any of my regular duties which will require me to work an additional 20 hours each week. Because Im completing my residency late they wont let me start my internship even though they wouldnt make an exception on the front end for me. They say that they dont want to damage the relationship with the field site. However, they dont have a relationship with the field site and since it is my workplace, if I would damage the relationship, I would lose my job. They are unwilling to help their students find work sites- as a friend of mine has not been able to secure one for the past 9 months, which forces her to just keep taking classes over and over. Now, Im too far into my program to transfer to another school without having to retake a bunch of classes. This is beyond a FOR PROFIT school and is not interested in helping their students succeed.

If you are good with self motivation, self discipline, and self directed research with a cursory support system embodied within Waldens staff and your classmates, this could be the place for you.Like any education, it is what you (the student) make of it.This is NOT a brick and mortar type of learning experience. I have funds available waiting for disbursement, and yet the school puts a hold on my account? It has been nothing but babysitting them since enrollment and it is ridiculous. I highly recommend avoiding this place, it is incredibly unorganized. Also, every time you talk to someone in financial aid, you get a different story about what is going on with your account or what paperwork is needed- not sure whats going on, but it smells more and more like a scam.

Falsely prepare the Family Nurse Practitioners for their National Exam. Recently graduated with my MSN and had a 3.9 GPA. Im still not ready to take my boards. This rating is only to better their program. I spent most of my studies in research, writing papers, discussion posts with replies and taking out of date quizzes with no rationales or feedback. Im stressing the importance and need to update your FNP curriculum. Students need access to a free live or online review post graduation and access to practice questions during the program.

Great university. I am a Registered Nurse and I chose Walden for my masters. I graduate in a few weeks with MHA and I am glad to have chosen Walden. Except for one class, I felt well supported and learnt a lot. Some of the classes are too crammed for the amount of information. Tuition was slightly higher than what I was initially told and having paid for the program, it was well worth it. I hope to proceed towards a doctorate. Thank you to all the professors and support team. Excellent school. I would highly recommend it to anyone needing online schooling.

Run! Do not read any of the fake reviews by Walden University staff. This is not a university its a for profit business. The product is students and the sad part is they are not in the business of actually giving you a education or a degree. There are many delay tactics for masters and doctorate students. The dissertation is never ending. The graduate programs never have the required internship placements to graduate. Department of Education needs to shut this money hungry business disguised as a university down. We are spending our tax payers to make this place RICH.

Walden is a money hungry university that only sees dollar signs. I enrolled in Walden and attempted to attend earlier this year. Walden not only did not give me access to the courses, after I reached out multiple times, but they are sending me threatening emails and are contacting me about collecting tuition for the same courses they did not give me access to. Please attend a school that appreciates their students because Walden does not care about students at all. They are there to only try to collect money. This was the most horrible experience I have ever had with a university. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. WALDEN DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.

I love attending Walden University. Their Professors are very knowledgeable and they push students to challenge themselves. The only down-fall I see is, they need to offer more financial opportunities to pay for their college tuition. I wish they accepted Federal Perkins loans on top of the regular Pell grants and Federal Sub & Unsub loans now that the Government has placed a cap on such funds. It is very hard for student to pay $25,000 in tuition cost out of their own pockets in our economy today. Private loans are not an option if you have terrible credit due to divorce or losing your job.

Currently in my practicum for my Family Nurse Practitioner. I have had a great experience thus far. The instructors are educated and caring. I was able to take classes while caring for a family as well as expanding my family with little interruption in my courses. I met many people from different states, countries and cultures. This experience gives different perspectives to the same profession. My only complaint is how difficult it is to find preceptors for the practicum portion. My initial application was declinced because I was not an employee of the site which was an affiliation agreement stipulation I was unaware of, for the site I chose, until I was declined. That set me back a semester but the field site rep assisted me with finding a group of approved sites which made the process smoother. I would absolutely reccommend Walden University and I do all the time!

I am a current Ed.D student and this has been a long disappointing journey. I have been enrolled continuously since 2012 without a break. I cannot believe the amount of revisions that I have had to submit. I wish I would have done my homework about Walden prior to enrolling because I would not have selected this school. I believe the comments that relate to them prolonging your program to get more money. This is horrible there is no one that It should take an entire semester to finish 1 section. My chair is very sarcastic and it takes her 2 weeks to read my work and provide feedback which is another strategy to prolong your enrollment. She will find a mistake on the 6th revision that has been in the paper since the initial submission. This is by far the worst decision I have ever made and I truly wish that I had attended another university.

This is definitely not a military friendly school. Ive been on orders for almost two months and explained to the professor that I will not be able to turn in a couple of assignment on its due date based on lack of internet, etc. however I still received a zero for that assignment. One of my professors has a rubric but never uses it to grade you. Ive been getting 28/50 on average and have no actual report on why I was graded so low. She uses words such as weak to describe your sentence/paper. Give me more detail and explain to me what I need to add. To have a Ph.D grammar such as weak does not seem professional to me. I would never recommend anyone to go here. My program of choice was the Masters program in Health Education.

Great in the beginning, but has slowly lost my respect over the last two years. Seems like some others have had good experiences, but the nurse practitioner track has many unhappy students. After the first couple courses, you can easily know what it takes to beat the system and get an A...One of those things you only get what you put in to it. A cookie-cutter ciriculum. The instructors barely participate in discussions, the bare minimum. And there is a HUGE variation in teachers requirements, some of which are not in the student manual. The communication at the school hasnt been great overall. AND they recently stopped including books in the price of the course, but didnt decrease the price to account for it. It was sneaky and dishonest!

When I was enrolled, I was told, I will finish my NP with 22-24K but end up paying 34k not sure it is because I finished the courses over 4 years.2. Courses are great but too little time to study due to too many writing assignments. In my opinion, Waldens Tutors and Professors are less than helpful. I have found I am teaching my self instead of being taught by these so called teachers but instead they are nothing more than markers of grades. Also they arent the cheapest and will try and extract as much in extra money as possible. For example doing the IT classes be aware that for you to do some of the classes you pay for your class then get shafted for an extra $122 for a Labsim which if you dont pay for, you wont finish the class. The IT technology fee is another of the bs ways of getting extra money but no better service as they seem to be having maintenance what seems like every other week. I am nearly finished my classes but wont do another degree with them.

Walden strikes again...not only was my fiancé called an abomination for being gay in a class online forum but now she is being counted off on her assignments for being a few hours late. Her mother was transported to Shands (5 hours away) for emergency surgery on a brain tumor that was discovered only because Rachael decided to take her to the hospital. She emailed her teachers and requested an extension. One teacher responded within hoursand said okay. The next teacher took 6 days to respond to email and still counted off major points on grades. I figured at the graduate/professional level there could be considerations for actual emergencies. I have previously instructed college students and was required to respond to emails within a certain amount of time. I will not be recommending this school to any of my peers.

So... after being repeatedly told there was no way around ONLY being able to request transcript via internet website, I make a special trip to where I can get internet services (as I am vacationing in a remote area) I receive an email stating their website is down and here is a paper request form. The worst experience of my LIFE. I had a professor who was just horrible and reported her to school on many occasions. I was told to hang in there and it was too late to drop the class. This was my 3rd class at Walden and when I first started I received a C because I was trying to get use to the new school. It then put me on sap. Okay I said no problem. My next class I got an A. One more class to go. Lol, had this Professor name Dr. Adrienne Isakovic and in week 3 I ask a question about a grade from a class discussion and that was when I dug my grave. I was then under attack by this Professor and no matter how hard I tried and turn my work in time, she gave me an F. Boy did I cry and was stressed out. Now I have to write SAP to explain. LOL, that was a joke. They denied me and did not listen to what this Professor did nor did the school they took her side. Im telling everyone who wants to come here... DONT DO IT!!! About two weeks into the course I started posting, Hey, I dont think anyone is reading these posts. Sure enough, no one was. Walden refused to refund my money for the course because they said I continued to post and had imput from my classmates. I had 4 different chairs for my disertation. Evey time a new one came on they told me to change my methodology. I went from mixed to quantitative to qualitative and back to mixed. Dont waste your money. As a RN for 31 years and a Chief Nursing Officer with a BSN and Masters, I applied for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Walden. I applied at Walden because many of the staff I counsel and help with tuition go there for their BSN and MSN. Well guess what- I didnt get accepted due to not having 2 years current experience in the trenches. I have many years in the trenches and it is like riding a bike. I support and lead clinical initiatives everyday, but because I am not the RN inserting the IV into the vein I was not considered. Skills dont make the RN - everyone knows that. So disappointed with Walden, and I will not be recommending this program anymore that is so rigid and doesnt look at the whole picture of a person, as well as having blinders on as to the shortage of providers and what is going on in the world with mental illness. The Ph.D program administration need to implement many changes in the area of honesty ,guidence, and fairness. Walden started out helping students to reach their goal, along the way the upper management I believe became corrupt and greedy and out for their own interest, while forgetting the students. You need a Doctorate to become a Forensic Psychologist. There are no Doctorate programs offering Forensic Psychology that I have found. I also recently found out that without APA accreditation, you cannot get a license to even be an Associate Psychologist, at least not in the State of NC. A Ph.D in Psychology from here may not be worth much in another stateeither because the APA does not accredit online psychology programs. Please make sure to research your states licensure requirements before going to this school as well as the APA. Hope this helps someone. I am truly hurt and disappointed in the service I have received with your school organization. This is my first experience dealing with an online school program and wanting to do this on my own I researched the best online program I could find for the degree program I was pursuing. After submitting my interests I was connected with Christine Staebell who assured me that the program I chose was the best option for what I wanted and I was never supplied any documents in writing to confirm my agreement to the program and cost. Christine Staebell informed me my classes would cost $625 each and also offered me a free class before I started to get acclimated with how the school works. After completing the complimentary class and finishing up my first two classes I was so excited to continue on to further my education and contacted the financial department to make my 1st payment only to find out that for the past two months I didnt incur a $1250 bill but a $3500 bill! I was advised by your financial dept that my monthly cost was actually $1625 and not $625, I was in shock, in tears and in disbelief because my 1st reaction is theyve got the wrong student account that is not what I was told. But unfortunately it was my name on the account; I also was told they will take no less than $800 a month to pay it off! WOW that is absurdly ridiculous especially when your site claims you work with students on setting up payment plans. I called Christine Staebell to dispute this cost as I was misinformed and misguided and duped into signing up for this program for her sake of compensation and received no response, my mother joined in the dispute and attempted to call Christine Staebell and she did respond to my mother and after my mother divulge the revelation of the costs being higher than advised Christine Staebell only says I am sorry but I cannot release any information to you because she does not have a disclosure of authority on her account. What is that?! I didnt even know you can have that on your account! Christine Staebell should not be a guidance of any kind, I felt preyed on and blindsided into enrolling into your school and when I tried to follow up with Christine Staebell again.....still no call but just an email with a weak attempt at an apology stating I am sorry you feel this way in thinking you were only paying $625 a month. And in that email she misquoted the costs again and wrote $16,765! I am one step away in filing a law suit against your school, I have no paperwork, emails, or confirmations to support the $3500 you are railroading me for. I have only had verbal agreements with Christine Staebell and I feel she knew I was new to this process and took advantage of me to meet her quota and receive compensation. I would like to speak to someone right away to discuss ensuring this account is closed as I will not be attending your school any longer and to remove this balance from my name. After doing further research on reviews of your school which I had wished I did more of before all of this I found there are multiple students who have dealt with the same situation. You should be ashamed of yourselves, I wanted to rely on a school that encourages and takes care of their students to further my career and I was led astray. I will also be reporting this situation to the BBB because other students should be aware of the dangers of online schools such as yours.
