Great academy to train BBJ and Muay Thai

This is one of the best places to train. All the coaches are very passionate and dedicated, there is a very large number of higher ranked students who show up very regularly, and John has done a wonderful job by creating a schedule that caters to all - womens, kids, advanced, and beginners. The team is very hard working , supportive and positive - it is just like family and the techniques taught have something for everyone. Definitely the place to train if you are a newcomer or experienced in BJJ!

More than a martial arts gym, this place is a second home for most. Not only does Triumph have the best BJJ in the state but its also full of great people. Everyone is very welcoming. Great place for beginners to black belts!

If youre interested in a welcoming environment, talented and effective instructors, meeting new people from a diverse range of backgrounds, and want to top it all off with amazing workouts, then Triumph is for you. Not once in nearly 4 years have I left this gym feeling worse than when I walked in.

Extremely positive environment! Clean and organized gym. Large amount of classes so everyone can find a time to fit class into their schedules. Instructors and students have been continuously helpful and encouraging. I can’t say enough about the people here. If you are on the fence or nervous about trying out, you won’t be sorry. Very welcoming group. You can tell there is a lot of pride taken here. There seems to always be improvements being made and new things added to accommodate students, and make the programs the best they can be. My kids (ten and four) attend the kids classes which are also amazing.

Triumph is an amazing academy. From brand new students to black belts everyone is treated with the respect they deserve. Ive never seen a more welcoming climate when it comes to training facilities. There is a definitive family atmosphere that is hard to deny. The instructors take the time to ensure that there is a full understanding of technique and offer constructive feedback as needed. Fellow students are friendly and encouraging while helping to push each other to the next level. There is no place that I would rather train.

Triumph BJJ gets an A+. Gym is kept very clean. Instructors are professional, knowledgeable, classes are structured and full of very detailed instruction. Classes are great for all levels. The team pushes everyone hard to develop and improve in a way where everyone of different age, fitness, and ability can improve. I recommend anyone interested to try some classes out and talk to John Fain about what you’re looking to get out of training! I guarantee this gym will get you there. They have a great kids program as well. Very important part of my weekly fitness.

I joined Triumph about 6 months ago looking to increase my self - defense abilities; however, I’ve gained so much more.I have never met a group of people that I’ve felt so comfortable and connected to so quickly. Not only are their BJJ abilities unparalleled, but it’s a family of like- minded individuals constantly looking to challenge themselves to be better. While I have been getting better at BJJ by the day, my self- esteem has likewise increased. With each struggle along the way, I have been met with encouragement from the Triumph staff; they don’t give up on you even when you want to give up on yourself.I cannot recommend Triumph BJJ enough. Has changed my life.

Based on my own experiences at Triumph, I think previous posts on this gym are unfounded and slanderous. The gym members are extremely respectful of newcomers comfort levels and they go out of their way to ensure that youre getting the best training that you could be getting. When I came to the gym I had gone through several years of bad abuse and I had extremely high anxiety rolling with the men on the mat. They have exhibited endless patience and understanding and I have never once felt like there was any disrespect towards any women or men in that gym. Now I can comfortably roll with anyone at that gym because I know that its a safe place. In regards to the race comment, people of all ages, genders and races have been welcomed here and youll see all kinds of people rolling on the mats. I suggest you take the bad review with a grain of salt and take into consideration the numerous reviews of all these members that really love this gym and will go out of their way to make this an enjoyable experience for you.

This place is more like a 2nd home, than a gym. There’s a great group of people train here, they’re an incredible bunch of folks that I look forward to seeing every time I step on the mat. I highly encourage BJJ as a hobby regardless of age or fitness level, and specifically Triumph in either Nashua or Amherst, as the instruction is world class. The toughest thing to do is stepping onto the mat the first time... after that? You’ll be canceling plans to make it to class.

I have been training at Triumph for many years and would recommend it to anyone. All of the instructors are very talented and will be patient with you if you are a beginner. If you are an upper belt, this is the highest level jiu-jitsu you will find in the area. You can choose any day of the week to train and there will be an abundance of purple, brown, and black belts in attendance. The people here are also awesome (particularly the women) and you will no doubt make some new friends from your experience. The only regret you will have is not giving this place a try.

I have been training at Triumph since April 2016. This is one of the best academies I have ever trained at. The instruction is top notch. John and the other instructors are very insightful when helping students improve providing great technical feedback when asked. John also does at great job at helping students that require a lot of clarification and making everyone feel heard. This academy is like one giant family and you wont find an atmosphere as kind or welcoming as Triumph anywhere else. If youre looking to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gi or no gi or even just grab some striking classes and was a friendly environment this is the gym for you. The kids progam is also phenomenal and fosters a positive environment that challenges children and forges friendships that last forever. And this gym is very welcoming to women who may worry of being smashed all the males and females at this gym are kind and gentle, no one is out for ego here. Its all about the learning experience:)

The TLDR version: friendly people, awesome academy, go!I started at Triumph just shy of 3 years ago as a BJJ newbie. The environment is relaxed, super friendly, and the instruction has been fantastic. There are more than a handful of instructors, which is really nice because everyone has a different teaching style that you may find you better resonate with.John Fain, the owner / head instructor is clearly committed to BJJ, always improving the academy, and making sure people use good technique. I havent found there to be any favoritism or distinction based on rank regarding how people are treated. The facility is huge with a 100+ members, but a packed All Levels BJJ class may total up to around 30 members. Even with a full class there doesnt seem to be any problem with room. If you want more individualized instruction, I would recommend attending when the fundamentals of BJJ classes run, as they tend to be lighter and allow for more individualized instruction (which seems key for white belts!)Regarding comparing different BJJ academies to Triumph, I have no other reference points as this is the first Ive consistently attended. Despite that, there is an abundance of classes including muay thai, MMA and of course BJJ, all included in the same monthly price. There is no shortage of time slots that could be worked into your schedule. As a white belt you have to expect some sort of friendly banter as youre sort of like a toddler in a wolfs den when you start, having no idea how to use your body in this context. That hasn’t crossed into the area of disrespect or with any intention of trying to turn newbies away. I have always felt like I could ask questions and received good feedback and instruction. Egos are held in check and I haven’t thought that someone was intentionally trying to break me.I love going here and it has ruined my former love, weight lifting, as its just too boring now.

Sick night on the mats! Tons of good rolling and great techniques. I came to Triumph roughly 5 years ago to continue my Jiu Jitsu journey after moving around for work. I was welcomed me into the Triumph community and Ive been blessed to join them. Triumph has never stopped providing his students an amazing place to train and always the best quality instruction. If youre thinking of starting BJJ come check us out. If you already train come by, check out the new facility and roll with some great people!

I started at Triumph almost four years ago and the school continues to improve. In its new location it has more mat space than any other school in the area. It has something for everyone. While its focus is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the school also offers boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA. Training in BJJ has honestly been the best workouts Ive ever had. Its a very welcoming environment. Since training there Ive made some great friends.

This review is coming from a recovering lifetime fat kid whos never done a day of martial arts in her 24 years of existence, and sought out a lifestyle change with BJJ. Any unknown territory can create a space for potential fear and judgement, but I cant tell you how far from that Triumph has been. I went into this gym with the head space that I had to be ok with looking stupid, being humiliated and feeling completely out of place, and while these past two weeks have been hard and kind of like drinking from a fire hose; the vibe and people that train here have made it so incredibly easy to keep coming back. I never expected to find such welcoming individuals, but I couldnt be more thankful that I did. My first day I was nervous, awkward, out of shape and sweating buckets, but everyone was encouraging, and as someone whos learned to be comfortable with being judged, I never felt like those kind of eyes were on me. You can feel the people here WANT to see those around them succeed. Even if you are the annoying new white belt that asks a million questions and doesnt know what to do with your body 99% of the time. The patience, knowledge, and advice that I have been met with have been awesome. If you are new, come here. If you are seasoned, come here. If you have no idea what BJJ is, come here and take a class. You wont regret it. I know I dont. The only thing I regret is not googling Jiu Jitsu gyms in my area sooner, and finding this place. I know this road is going to be a very steep hill to climb, but when youre surrounded by good people the trip doesnt seem so bad. Sometimes even fun. Team Triumph has those people.P.S To the fattie googling Can I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the answer is - No you cant. But you sure as hell can learn. SO JUST GO!
