After researching different martial arts for kids, we settled on Karate for our son. He has a lot of energy, and we wanted to channel it into something positive. A friend recommended Karate City, and we are happy with everything so far. My son stays focused during the whole lesson (something he can find difficult) and is so enthusiastic after class. The tutors seem to able to provide individual attention to the students, so everyone sees progress. I would happily recommend Karate City to any parent looking for karate lessons for their kids.

When we were researching Karate Schools in NYC for our kids, we came across Karate City. After reading lots of excellent reviews, we decided to give them a try. Karate City, NYC school has opened near our house two months ago. We moved to New York 3 years ago. Prior to this, the children went swimming and gymnastics after school activities. Our son loves attending the lessons at Karate City. We were hesitant to sign him up for karate at first because we werent sure if he would use it outside the class. Those concerns are long gone now. Part of the kids karate lessons includes respect for the sport. He has learned self-defense but doesnt use it to show off to his friends. We are delighted with the approach the tutors use and feel like our son has come on in leaps and bounds since joining this karate school. He does tend to become easily bored with sports, but he still has lots of enthusiasm for karate, and we think it will be something he does for years to come. I m competitive, so I need an energetic and enthusiastic crowd to train with. I also require a disciplined and respectful environment to concentrate and train with instructors that can help me further enhancing my techniques. Note: I got the second place in the nationals twice, so I m not bad hence needing highly technical instruction. A little about the main instructors: Kancho Igor and Sensei.Jose are active athletes, always participating at tournaments and bringing new applications and tactics. Additionally Kancho Igor often participates on national and international seminars, hence in sync with continuously evolving karate techniques. Ah, for you that never practiced karate before or is looking somewhere to advance your techniques, there is the big focus on you. Karate City is investing on the next generation, to cultivate more karate practitioners and lovers. Great karate school. I have been taking lessons with Igor for 3 months and have never experienced such a dedicated and professional trainer before. As for my personal results: I have lost about 11 pounds of fat and feel a lot stronger. Do not expect to become Bruce Lee in one month, but if you are looking for long term results and life long sport D-Dojo is definitely a place for you. Thank you Igor for your dedication!

11 years ago I met sensei Igor and he BLEW my mind. After 25 years of high level training as a 3rd degree black belt shotokan (former member of a national team), I HAD to learn new stuff,because Igor sensei had a different vision of what karate was. Back then we used to wait for the first student to come by and practice ,It was hard times for sensei Igor but he had a very positive attitude about this new school in new York city knowing that some competitors were already there ,BUT IT DIDNT MATTER..he was The Best. We used to mop the floor for hours keeping ourselves busy and hoping that one student or two will come over for training.I took advantage of his immense knowledge..to better my karate and myself as well. Till now I did not find such a professional and dedicated Sensei, I m challenging anyone who join him in his journey....and I bet you that you will be blown away...Ooooss.MS..

I came by to get a better feel of the dojo and I was really amazed by the structure and how clean it was. Nevertheless, I felt like their prices were not at all competitive. For only a small set of classes they charged somewhere in the ball park of 500$. Also the young lady at the reception desk seemed dishonest when she tried to get me to join. When I attempted to take a picture of the schedule with my phone she stopped me from doing saying “the schedule is subject to change”. I just got the vibe that they were ripping people off at this place. D-Dojo honestly seems like a high end business who aims to teach extremely affluent New Yorkers “Karate”. If your serious about practicing martial arts there are options possibly as good if not better and significantly cheaper. I am sure D-Dojo like many Dojos has done a great service to its students by has improving their quality of life through “Karate”. Therefore,Ive posted this review not to troll but to give my honest opinion with the intention that this business may improve in its quality of service.

I attended D-Dojo a while back, loved the classes although my back injuries (which caused a pinched nerve on my thigh) I got previous to joining D-Dojo and time schedule couldnt keep up with the training. The classes were very balanced in discipline, work out, and martial arts. Igor was a great instructor who cares a lot of the small stuff (postures forms, etc) and all of the Karatekas made my experience very good.

The instructors are very friendly and down to earth and the same is true of the other students in the dojo. The classes are structured in such a way that you can push yourself to your limits or grow at your own pace and the instructors will never push you beyond your limits. The schedule is very flexible with many options and time slots. The location is accessible to various subway and bus lines. In this dojo they teach you the proper techniques from day one as opposed to other dojos were you can learn bad habits before they feel you are ready for the real techniques. I lost 20 pounds in less than 4 months. I highly recommend the dojo to anyone from first timers to advanced students.
