Working at the Chekhov Studio and with Lenard Petit changed my life. I had always struggled with the more traditional/analytical approaches to performance that is generally taught in the conservatories here in the US. That work felt constraining to me.The Chekhov work is imaginative and, even, spiritual in its approach to creating character, rhythm, and atmosphere. The technique takes all of the struggle out of acting and just makes it a purely joyful process.
