Our son has a yellow belt and other than discipline, respect and compassion he has learned some great skills. Even though they’re 3-4 years old this is not one of those classes where they just learn some basics and stand still.. Mr. Burgos and Mr. Perez are always doing their best at teaching these kids new skills that they will need, all their life basically.Great staff and easy to work with. Mary is always hands on and happy to answer any questions or whatever you need help with.Great vibe, we are always talking about this place and how much are son loves it. He’s asked to have his birthday party here so all his friends can see how good he’s at martial arts.Thank you guys!

The moment my son stepped into MMA in Tribeca he loved it. His first class was with Mr. Burgos and he immediately asked to go back. We heard about this place thru our friend, and 3 months in, we are beyond happy. My son is learning so much about body control, discipline, respect, self image ( very important) and all this while still having fun. Need to mention Mr. Perez whom my son loves and Mr. Brennan. Thank you guys for teaching our kids such important values. Keep up the good work :) Highly recommend. Lets just hope that soon we wont need to wear masks anymore and things go back to normal.

This was a great school until the owners decided they would take a hard stance in support of the protest movement. When we asked they ensure to teach values about not destroying property they wouldnt even discuss it and kicked us out of the school. It was shockingly against their own values of respect.

MMA Tribeca has been a lifesaver throughout Covid. Our son (now 8) has been going for four or five years, and we have always been so impressed with the instructors, the format, everything. He has so much fun, but also learns important lessons and self-discipline. As great as they were, when Covid hit and they started zoom lessons, they really took it to the next level. In both their virtual summer camp and weekly lessons, these instructors are gifted teachers that have been such a wonderful activity for not just our son, but also our 10 yr old daughter who wanted to join after seeing how much fun our son was having. Ms. S, Mr. B and Mr. S are so great, and we are so thankful that we have them, and MMA, as part of our family. Cant wait until we can get back to normal in person lessons, but until then, so happy to have the virtual ones.

The instructors are very engaging! They teach the kids the importance of listening to directions, paying attention, and focusing their minds which helps them learn the physical sequences. They stress being on time, staying present, and moving with confidence and grace. My daughters are so proud of what they accomplish each week. They come home with their heads held high, practice each night, and cant wait for the next class!

We just love this program! I first brought my son to MMA at 78 Reade when he was 3 years old. The instructors were so kind and welcoming, but he was too terrified at the time. Well TWO YEARS LATER he said he was ready to try it again. So we did, and hes been going for a year now and joined the BBT program a few months ago. He loves it and cant get enough! The instructors are wonderful. They cultivate a growth mindset, encouraging the kids to do things that are difficult, because in doing so they will become stronger. They create an atmosphere where it is safe to fail -- the kids know to just get up and keep trying. Weve even gotten an occasional postcard in the mail with an encouraging note from an instructor -- just an example of how thoughtful they are. We love the character-focused mat chats, and how our son would come home excitedly talking about things like self-discipline. And the classes are just such a joy to watch, as the instructors masterfully coach tiny people to develop focus and discipline and strength while having fun.

This place is the absolute best way to learn how to box. The instructors are lovely, the staff is warm and welcoming, but you still get a total butt-whupping workout. One of the most amazing things we noticed about boxing class here, is how we dont even notice the time passing. The instructors, (especially Chris) make it so much fun that you cant believe youre not counting the minutes waiting for the workout to be over. Its a special special place.

I signed up my then 8 year old daughter up at Modern Martial Arts in Tribeca 5 years ago, during an extremely challenging time of our lives. You see, I had become a single parent by default and she is an only child. In the absence of an extended family, I wanted my daughter to be surrounded by strong role models. I wanted her to develop self-confidence in mind and body. I wanted her to develop leadership skills and an esprit de corp of like-minded kids.I wanted her learn how to use physical power in an ethical and humane manner. I wanted her to learn that girls can be just as physically fierce as boys. And yes, I wanted her to develop college self-defense “insurance.” LOLShe’s now 13 years old and proudly less than one year from earning her black belt. In these past 5 years, not only did she receive all the things I hoped for her, but we gained a courageous, encouraging, and loving family at Modern Martial Arts in Tribeca.I cannot recommend this program, instructors, management and village of fierce martial artists any stronger!

I have the highest opinion of Modern Martial Arts (MMA), where my daughter attends classes 3-4 times a week. As a psychologist, I have found that MMA has been the most valuable extracurricular activity she has ever had, for both physical and mental discipline. In addition to the physical confidence the program cultivates, both the teachers’ integrity and the training program itself instill an ethical code analogous to spiritual training: be mindful of and responsible for your actions; respect authority; be considerate of and concerned for others; don’t bully or be bullied; and find ways to avoid/ minimize conflict while still sticking up for your principles. In addition, the community MMA provides is warm, mature, and filled with a healthy dose of playfulness and humor, reflecting the instructors’ personalities. Overall, I could not be happier with the role MMA plays in shaping our daughter’s character and self-image.

Was there with 7months old who got excited(laughing and giggles) to see his brother doing karate on the mat. The coach kicked us out of the class, I can understand if the children were being distracted or not focusing on the class which was not the case... Not cool when its 90 degrees outside, she did offered to sit right in front of the door outside the class( whats the k not to mention not lot of space to park stroller and not allowed to come on early to dress your child. You will have to wait outside. Kind of disappointed.

On two different occasions, brought iphones to this shop for repair. One for screen repair and one for battery repair. Both phones were returned with the gps no longer working. When i brought them back and asked for a fix, i was told by the big guy owner that it was my problem despite it being mere days since the repair.
