This school provides the best program. The most important thing is that everything in books is connected with real life in America and New York.I remember first text on the first level about super in the buildig, then text about girl that takes bus to Central park, than all possible situations with people and places. Its much easier to remember words and grammar if you feel connection with real life. For me this is so important!Also a lot of good teachers but some of them are hilarious!Very good buffet with large selection of almost everything you might want. Good place to meet people from all around the world.Once in my class were two fashion designers, restaurant owner, chef of French restaurant and many other interesting people.

This school is a nightmare, a very cruel joke. They don’t care about students, all they care about is money. Some of the teachers working there are mentally unstable, plain crazy, many teachers are openly laughing at your mistakes or accent, and I mean you go there to learn and improve your English, don’t you? Most of the Employers are disrespectful and rude. Sometimes when one teachers doesn’t show up they will combine you with another class and there are so many students that you can barely breathe or move. In many classes levels are very mixed, students who can barely speak are in the same room with students way more advanced. It’s uncomfortable for both. As I mentioned they don’t care about students. Couple weeks ago they kept us out of school in the morning in the freezing temperature (25F). Nobody knew what was going on and nobody told us. I stood there for 45 minutes, some of us even longer. After that time they told us to go warm up somewhere and come back in 15 minutes. When we came back we had to stand there for another 40 minutes. Eventually they told us to go somewhere (remember it’s the middle of the winter) and come back in 2 hours. That was ridiculous and inhumane. They treat students like trash and piggy bank. I went home, because I was coldaf and took me 3,5 hours to warm up after that. I got absent and messed my attendance and the school doesn’t want to do anything about it. I can’t afford to go to a restaurant for two hours and order food just to be able to stay there. I don’t live in NYC to go home and come back and it was way too cold to wandering around the city to kill that time. I am thinking about reporting them to the state, because what they are doing and how they’re running that school is ridiculous. Don’t go there, save yourself from constant headache. it’s not worth the money.

Unbelievable. Mr Octavio was responsible for fill up papers for my niece traveling from overseas into US.Turned out that the proses went through fast be cause the money was paid at front.Now almost a year later I’ve been trying to collect the money back, because they said if you don’t get the visa the payment goes back into your account between 4 or 5 months period.well as I said early I’ve been trying to contact him and every time I speak to him there are some excuses.My believe this place became a scam so it’s employees.Just do a better research a bout American language center they just want your money.Alexander..

My experience with the school has been very positive. My teacher is Charles Serrano he’s the best teacher I have had. He provides high -quality education and a character enriching experience. Charles helps me a lot with my grammar and pronunciation. I really like this school and the teachers.

ALCC is one of the best schools you can go in Manhattan without paying a lot of money while you learn to speak American English taking classes such as Master Speaking, Accent Reduction, Business or TOEFL. Its agents and teachers are very professional and friendly. Octavio García, who was my agent for over 2 years, is over the top. I highly recommend him because he is always ready to help his students when they need him. ALCC is your best option if you are looking for a good English as a second language school which does not cost an arm and a leg.

I had a great experience in ALCC. First, my agent Barbara is outstanding. She treats everyone equal, never loses her good mood, and no matter how crowded would be the reception, she would give enough attention to make you feel special. Second, they have pretty good teachers committed to teach. I could highlight for Writing Raymond and Roxanne, for grammar Aaron, Wilma, and Raymond, and for conversation Jenna and Kathleen. All of them, promote a very interactive class. They know how to run the class smoothly, but they wont miss a opportunity to correct your pronunciation, which made me improve a lot. Finally, it is well located in the heart of Manhattan, surrounded by variety of options of shopping, food and refreshments, although they have a very good cost-benefit cafeteria on the 4th floor. For those reasons, I definitely give 5 stars for ALCC.

Good teachers...The school always follows the rules and makes the students responsible and not lazy. If you want to learn English and you have enough maturity to want to do it, join this school. My agent was on vacation, and people in the front desk transferred me to other agents. I kept waiting and then I asked how many people are waiting before me? One answered that I was the next one for No.1 desk, so I continued waiting for the woman calling me. But after talking with a students, she called another one. And she never call me! So I went to the front desk, the one told me I was the next again! It’s obvious that the agent doesn’t want to help! After waiting for an hour, I just cancelled it.How terrible of the competition between agents!

I spent there one wonderful month in June 2012. I will remember always that time as the best in my lifetime. Wonderful teachers, wonderful places, delicious food...everything was perfect. The course is located in the middle of Manhattan in the heart of New York City - or the capital city of the whole word.

ALCC is a fun school with a good environment to learn English. There are many experienced American teachers and the knowledgeable staff also specializes in assisting students with their f-1 student visa. I paid to be enrolled in the English course with the assumption that my visa would be approved to return to the US on a student visa. I had to pay a deposit of a few hundred dollars and I was assured that if for some reason my visa was denied that part of my deposit would be returned.Well my visa was denied and I contacted the school, they said they would issue the refund in 4-6 weeks. After 6 weeks I contacted them again and then a month later again. And every time the response is the same it’ll be rewards in a few weeks or we have to restart the paperwork so it’ll be another few weeks. 11 months has passed since I paid the deposit and I still have not received my partial refund.It seems like they want to take advantage of people who want to come to the US to study English. They are making no effort to return my money. Be careful about any money you give them and don’t expect to get it back if something doesn’t work out.

Its an awesome place to learn American English. I am an old man. I studied at ALCC and I had very good teachers. My granddaughter came to the USA with ALCC sponsorship and she improved her English dramatically. She is now attending Brooklyn College. We are very happy with ALCC and its programs.

ALCC was a first English Center I had for the first time I came to the United States. I had many good memory here with my class (grade 4th with teacher Nyle. I had most 4 months to studied in there. It is wonderful the language center, good staff, perfect teachers, friendly people and multinational students with great location at the big apple). Thanks for everything you provided and taught me.

Have very bad experience with the school. They dont let you to have a trial class to see the level of education. And thats 100% needed as you never decide to join a school where most of the students are F-1 holders and they have to come to the school to stay (illegally work) in the US. They have low/no motivation to actually learn the language.My evaluation test was also horrible. The teacher just asked me where I live. And I felt very uncomfortable as he kept going asking for more details up to the apartment number. After that they placed me two levels lower than my actual level, which I had to figure out myself. The class teacher never told me that I should move to higher level though it was pretty obvious.So after the transfer I had to purchase a second set of books. The new teacher preferred to talk about how are you? whats new? the first 30 minutes of the class. She considers it as part of her tutoring. I think its also because most people come late. Only after that we start doing grammar book or reading. After the break only half people stay. In the second half of the class we are supposed to talk on topics that are interested to us students. Most of the time we dont know what talk about so the teacher talks her life stories, asks about ours, about homosexuals, politics, corporations, wars, conspiracy theories. It didnt improve my conversation skills. Sometimes we just play games the whole second half that are not related to studying the language at all, because they DONT INVOLVE SPEAKING or WRITING.The thing is I talked to the director of the school about the situation - he is perfectly fine. He told me that everyone has his own methods to teach the language and I should just try to study a different way of learning.I lost my money and time. Yes, I guess I had some fun there, but this is not an English school. My experience with the second teacher was more of a SOCIAL CLUB. It surprises me that the director thinks its OK for a school to be this way.

WORST school ever! the I20 section staff is rude to the limit, they treat students like straight garbage. They try to scare you and giving you information that is not even accurate. Some teachers are rude as well. Very strict attendance, not flexible at all. Left because i was feeling miserable there.

Very poor service - not enough information, no notification about course changes.. school not providing the level education you paid for.. also the stuff/agents/directors dont give you proper answers on your questions/concerns.. no respect, very unprofessional..weekend pre-toefl class is waste of time - big differences in students levels of English, the book is not used in class - very basic information in it, very expensive.. etc. this school is great only if you need cheap courses for keeping a status but not for education..

Based on my Alcc experience: I have given the English in general that I have today.Academically my Favorite teachersJAVIER Gómez excellent strict his pedagogy impeccable.Wohn William native teacher of California didacta if you do not have any knowledge in English this teacher has the patience and the professionalism to help you teach it, I worked very hard with the pronunciations I liked a lot in the writing classes the Best.Charles Serrano excellent teacher with knowledge in American history and universal, incredible pedagogy, dynamic with perspective New Yorker, the teacher is excellent. I like the way he listens to the student and gives his classes.

I have been studying at Alcc from last 1 year. As per my personal experience, I believe that Alcc has very well professor and excellent way of teaching about grammar, speaking, and conversation. If you would like to improve your pronunciation, and Grammar Alcc have an excellent professor.

Avoid this school, never believe their lies especially Farida Merazga. Ive registered in April 2017 and started in June. I joined some lessons but I changed my mind to go back my country. Because course was very basic, teachers was incompetent. Besides they didnt refund my money even they say we will pay if you dont want to continue after the first week. I have been studying at Alcc for approximately 1 year and 8 months. From my own personal experience, I believe that Alcc has well prepared professor and excellent ways of teaching its students about grammar, speaking, and conversation. If you would like to improved your pronunciation, I would highly recommend, Mr. Charles Serrano. On the other hand, if you would like to learned Grammar, Mrs. Rhoda Roy is an excellent professor. Not only does Alcc emphasis the improvement of its students english skills, but also has professors such as Mr. Elliot who is very knowledgeable is history, the arts, and various cultures. It is due to its location that Alcc students can enjoy from the food and entertainment the city has to offer.

I don’t know what to review actually! Or where to even begin, they have the worst staff EVER they are not friendly at all they treat people AF they don’t respect from the receptionist, student’s agent to the some of the teachers.First off, the student agents don’t explain enough to the students about the programs they have and dont give sufficient info’s, they know nothing whatever you ask the answer is “ I don’t know” the placement test is not fair enough its soo easy like anyone can get the highest level since you are educated, some of the teachers are racists and don’t want to work although the ALCC mission is teachers talk less student talk more, you will not find the place to chat and learn to practice. Poor, poor attendance, as an international student, we always have doubts and fear of investing money in an institution that you do not know, I had my visa denied but I was happy to receive my money back because I was informed that the school has a policy of refounding. I filled out and sent all the necessary forms to get the refound but they do not inform me where or how I will receive my money, they only say that I have to wait for 8 weeks, first of all I do not understand why it takes 2 months to solve this, they delay responding to emails and when they respond do not say all the answers, vague and unclear answers. I went to this school in 2015 for 1 year once a week and it helped me to improve my language a lot. When compared to other schools, the price was cheaper but quality was not less . I highly recommend this school for everyone !

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to write a review. Lorl is an amazing teacher. We enjoy her class ver much. She makes every class interesting and comes with new ideas for every class to make us get completely involved in the subject without getting bored. I learned the theme authors choose to write poems in her class. We are paired up and given the current topics to discuss. We share our opinions with teacher and then she gives us the article about which we spoke. About grammar, she makes each and every student speak in the class, corrects and makes us repeat the sentence after correction. We do write comprehension. Not only learning English grammar, as per my opinion she teaches us the ethics to live life, punctuality, obeying elders, helping people in need and many more... She makes everything clear with proper loud instructions. Overall we learn a lot at the same time enjoy learning with Lorl.

SCAM ALERT. I paid over 2k for this schools services which were not delivered. Had been waiting for 15 weeks for them to refund me my money which they for some reason cannot process due to backlog and busy system. promises , promises- 8 week wait , which turned into 11 week wait and now they cannot even tell me when they will refund my money. Excellent! O graduated um 1997, where allowed me to speak a proper English, thereby I was Able to get better Jobs, I also graduated at the Joffrey Ballet school with good merit. Following, I also was hired by the MET( metropolitan ópera house) at the Lincon Center ok New york City. And certainly I would not have achived a dream, neither entered in the world of class and professionalism of the artes, that serves me very Well until this days. I am ALCC alumni, and I spent more than 18 months there. I learnt a lot. The schedule is so flexible. The toefl class is a wonderful class that someone gets a sound academic skill. Mister john Aubinbin is a good teacher, he uses each second to teach a new thing. Farida does her job, her marketing is well. Moreover, Regarding the importance of accent reduction class, I eagerly beg the administration to also fix this class on weekends. Its original schedule doesnt favor the students. It is machroomed in only weekdays and in the middle of the day. Seeing that most students have a problem with their accent, it will be suitable to reschedule this class on Saturdays and Sundays . A cheap school for english learning. The classes are ok but the infra-structure of the building is terrible. They dont have places for conversation and interchange or tours for the students, this is an important point for learning.
