I started my lessons in late September 2020. I was very impressed with the quality of the services, and particularly with Francesca, my teacher. I took both group and private lessons with her. She has been wonderful all around, and I really appreciated her putting up with my attempts at creative writing, correcting things that she had not yet taught me. I have to say that having a teacher adapt to a students way of learning is something that is not easy to find, so I am very happy to have had her as my own teacher! I am taking a short break from lessons to tend to my business and daughter, but cannot wait to get back to having lessons with them.

I had a great experience in a conversation class with Riccardo. The class was small and each student got a lot of time to speak. We also did some reading aloud in class and were assigned homework to watch Italian films or series then write about them. So, we covered all the skills, but the emphasis was on speaking and listening. Riccardo has good energy, is warm and friendly and at the same time very professional.

During these difficult times Speakitaly has been the highlight of my two sons last few months. Valentina has been amazing, my boys have loved the camp classes and private lessons. In May my 6 and 4 year old didnt know how to say a single word in Italian, both are counting to 50, know the days of the week, months of the year and so much more only two months later. Valentina has a warm, gentle and engaging manner, and connects with the children in a special way. She always comes prepared; the lessons are reinforced through music and movement, and she makes accommodations as needed. A must for little ones ! It is obvious that Valentina has a passion for teaching Italian and loves to share this passion with kids. We always look forward to our weekly lessons !

The rule to pass a B1 Italian language requirement for Italian citizenship was required two weeks before I was eligible to apply. I was in panic. When I found SpeakItaly, I set up a virtual one on one classroom (I do not live in NY) to take a deep dive into preparing for the test. In three short months, I prepared for the exam and passed! Chiara is an amazing teacher, she explains everything in such an easy way to understand since there are many complexities when learning italian, but she breaks them all down into digestible bites and it really sticks. She mixes up the lessons, so we do some homework review, exercises in the workbook or something else she has, and real life examples in conversation. She always makes it feel like we are 2 friends just having a conversation, even if one of the friends is infinitely smarter about the topic 🙂 I never feel intimidated even when I speak very slowly and when I am wrong we go over it so I know where I made the mistake. We always start and end our lessons with some small-talk and it really boosts my confidence. Our lessons are really the highlight of my week! The new office space (when we were able to use it) was really nice and welcoming. Now we do everything virtual and I have not noticed any difference in my lessons. Thank you Raffaella and Chiara!

Speak Italy NYC was able to find a birth certificate in a week after I had been looking for a year! They were so great to work with. Well-peices, efficient and communicative.

The teacher is very good and she takes the time to patiently help individual students who need the assistance. Being a native Italian, her vocabulary and usage are impeccable and she has enough knowledge of the language to explain why certain rules or pronunciations exist. Her knowledge of English is also very advanced so that she can explain equally well in either language.As for the class, the structure and content are fairly good, however, the take-home notes and exercises are insufficient. Having a text book to follow with weekly assignments would have been a huge help and I wouldve been willing to pay additional for the book.

I’m a beginner who just started a course with SpeakItaly. I have had 3 lessons with Angela and I am learning so much as well as enjoying my lessons. Angela has made the lessons fun. With a busy work schedule, it hasn’t always been easy to fit in evening Italian lessons. But I’ve had such a positive experience in Chiara’s advanced class that I’ve continued for three terms. She is an exceptional teacher, warm, energetic, and attentive. The small class sizes are an advantage, and the conversational format makes each session informative and fun. I’ve learned so much about geography and culture, food, music, and literature—the things that inspire me to continue studying Italian (not to mention adding countless destinations to my dream travel itinerary). In March 2020 the course switched to an online format. Chiara has effortlessly adapted to the circumstances, keeping the classes just as engaging as ever—and a genuine highlight of my week during this time of social isolation. Now we’re all at home, but maybe there’s never been a better time to learn a language.

I love Speak Italy!! I started classes with Raffaella and was so pleased that I got my 25 year old son to start with lessons also!I have now since had to change classes and started working with Flavia and have been just as happy! I love the classes and also love the workshops that they offer!!

Raffaella did a great job with the translations!! She also let me know which documents I needed to prepare prior to getting them translated. Great experience!

This is a great place to learn Italian. The groups are small and well tailored to our needs. Before starting my lessons with Raffy, I just knew a few basic Italian words and expressions. After a year of weekly lessons, I can pretty much read anything in Italian and understand it. I also can hold my own in a conversation. She’s a great teacher with a knack for explaining complicated stuff in a simple way. Best thing is she’s conversational, so you get to talk in Italian. And to that point, you start to develop an ear for it too.Shes very patient and very flexible with her schedule. Often my work would get in the way, and she would always accommodate. Classes always are fun and can range from reading, to grammatical, to purely conversational, but she ties it all together. I loved reading articles for homework.I would highly recommend Raffy!

I have had conversational Italian meetings with Raffaella for more than a year and have only the most complimentary remarks to make. She is punctual, flexible, congenial, seems genuinely interested in whatever topic is raised, and does not make one feel awkward or uncomfortable as one labors through a second language. She is also entirely informed about the most sophisticated, even arcane, features of Italian grammar and so can also engage on that level when called upon to do so. I recommend Raffaella without reservation.

I have been taking classes at SpeakItaly for about a month now and really enjoy it. Flavia is fantastic! She uses a lot of different techniques (reading, writing, speaking, games, songs, etc.) to teach us the content each week. The classes are small, so its easy to feel comfortable and to ask for clarification as needed. Would certainly recommend!

Valentina was amazing with my daughter she mad the class interesting for her and she really enjoyed going she is great with kids !!
