I have 3 boys who attend pouncing tiger. They are often excited about coming to class. I find them often rehearsing the creed when playing amongst themselves. I am so grateful that I was able to find something else that they were able to engage in during this pandemic. They no longer wanted to play football. Watching how Instructor Gibson interacts with the children who attend pouncing tiger is admiring. You can tell this is not just a mere coaching job for him, he actually enjoys what he does. The children seem love it here. Over the course of a year, I’m hoping for an increase in listening skills and self discipline, with some yellow belts to go with it. Pouncing Tigers is an exceptional martial arts school. Our son joined 6 years ago, when he was just 4 y/o, and has been attending classes ever since. Our family was new to martial arts but could not have been more impressed. In addition to the physical aspects of the program the instructors teach discipline, respect, and meditation. Weve even seen fiscal and nutrition lessons thrown in! Our sons self-confidence has blossomed and he is now equipped with some wonderful tools with which to handle himself in any situation (be it the playground, or in life!). The Pouncing Tigers approach is truly holistic and Mr. Gibson and Mr. Alex are incredible role models and mentors (& theyre like the child whisperers!). They have created a wonderful culture and the school is run with so much integrity and heart. Weve also met many wonderful families through the program and I know Im not alone when I say that Pouncing Tigers has made parenting much easier in our home. Pouncing Tigers is a martial arts gym in East Harlem on 104th and 2nd ave. My 5 yo daughter recently started training there, and shes loving it. Mr. Gibson, her instructor is GREAT with the kids. The kids are focused, engaged and you can see them learning self control and becoming more confident as they practice with him. I highly recommend it for kids 3 and up.The rates are very reasonable, the location is perfect and they offer weekday and weekend classes.

We bought a 6-month class for our Tiny Cub Grandson who LOVES his classes. Our thoughtful daughter in law & son video streamed our grandsons 2nd class and we were so excited to see how well our 3yr old grandson learned, blocked, bowed, and was well behaved (not usual!). The best part is the class is fun and for his age keeps him interested. He cant wait to go all week long. I love the thinking skills, respect and confidence it seems to be teaching him. REASONABLY priced, and customer service staff very organized and courteous. We ordered this as a Christmas gift over the phone as we dont live in NY, and could not wait to hear how our grandson liked it -- and we are happy to hear he LOVES it. Great school, part of a long established west side school.

Both my boys have been going to Pouncing Tigers for almost 2 years and LOVE it! They have big goals to become junior black belts and want to continue their journey with Pouncing Tigers until they do. They love their main instructor Mr Anthony so very much and also love when they get surprised by a class with Mr Gibson himself! Thank you for supporting my boys both through martial arts and generally in their day to day life.

It will feel like home! Instructors are extremely supportive, talented and friendly. They will do their best to help you improve and accommodate your needs. They will challenge you just the right amount without pushing your limits too much that can otherwise be discouraging. They care about spreading their beloved martial art skills and philosophy much more than making money. I would highly recommend this place! Kids classes look impressive as well. These kids are not only doing some exercise and learning new skills, but also developing some discipline and self control. The instructors really know how to communicate with kids. My son has been going to PT (as we affectionately call it!) for a year and 1/2. He absolutely loves it - the classes, the people and the friendships hes made. I can tell he feels strong, comfortable, safe and empowered. His growth and development are so evident. Thanks to Mr. Jamel and Mr. Alex especially, for their amazing work with the kids. They are incredibly gifted teachers and mentors.

My son has been attending classes at the Pouncing Tigers in East Harlem since their grand opening and he absolutely loves it. The instructors are friendly and professional. They manage to teach the children discipline, respect, and self worth all while keeping a smile on their faces. One of the most impressive changes I have witnessed in my son since he has been attending classes at Pouncing Tigers is his boost in self confidence and the new friendships he has been building with his fellow peers. All in all, Pouncing Tigers is phenomenal. I recommend it to all parents. You won’t be disappointed.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I definitely will. Mr.Gibson and Ms.Deborah are incredibly polite, kind and so very professional! The entire team is awesome but Ms.Deborah and Mr.Gibson are the ones I’ve dealt with directly, so I can say this with authenticity!I tried testing another program in Harlem (MMA Kids Fight back) and what a world of difference in how they treat people! I called MMA to see if they offer free trials to prospective students (my son is 5) and the person who picked up claiming to be the “Master” of the studio replied “that parents need to be committed and that he’s been doing this for 30yrs, so is pretty sure he’s good” My unspoken reaction was like “no way in hell my child is learning from someone so devoid of basic manners”!Ms.Deborah and Mr.Gibson were the complete opposite, even though they’ve got a lot to boast about. In any case, I made my decision based on the strong value alignment in addition to entrusting my child with a reputable institution.Ms Deborah is such a humble, strong, kind, and lovely human being! The customer service desk at the West Harlem studio was packed when I came in yet she never lost her cool and took her time to explain everything to everyone with inquiries and treated everyone with respect and kindness. She’s a rock star and I am so very proud to be associated with Pouncing Tigers. I can’t recommend them enough!!!

Pouncing Tigers is so great! I cant recommend them enough. My two girls joined the program young (ages of 3 and 5). The learning and growth they have experienced in both martial arts techniques and in life skills (focus, discipline, awareness of their bodies, health, treatment of others, etc) has been incredible for such a short time. The instructors are incredibly good with children. They make learning fun and turn lessons into games, and I have never seen any of them speak in anger or in harsh tones to any kids, no matter what the kids were doing. But maybe the best part has been the community we have found through Pouncing Tigers. Virtually everyone we have met has been friendly and warm, and we and our kids have made some good friends there.

Great place, amazing martial arts school!My 5 yo son has been attending hapkido classes here at East Harlem location since fall of 2018. Ive noticed so much improvement in my sons behavior, discipline and self esteem, as well as dedication, hard work and attitude towards others in such short period of time, it is hard to believe unless experienced firsthand.Mr. Gibson and the instructors are very friendly, personable yet very professional. You can approach them seeking advice with just about anything, related to martial arts or not.Besides the classes here at Pouncing tigers kids get to enjoy birthday parties, parents night out events, summer camp and so much more, they will never be bored and would ask to come back.We love this school so much so that a month ago I joined my son and am on my way to a black belt while having lots of good times.This is not just another martial arts school, Pouncing Tigers will absolutely become your second family!

Finally a Martial Arts school that works with our community! The facility is clean and organized. The instructors are personable, courteous and professional. They really take an interest on your child and and will work with the family to achieve their goals. My 6 yr. old daughter (Little Cubs) took an interest in the school while walking pass it. The schools location (East Harlem) was about to open in a few weeks. She insisted in joining even though she attended other activities (Ballet & Swimming). She wanted to give the other activities a break and join Pouncing Tigers. My husband and I came to an agreement and allowed her to join. She is extremely happy at Pouncing Tigers. Its been a few weeks since she joined and we can see the difference already. From her strength to her listening skills. The classes are made to be fun while they are learning valuable skills. I was very excited to see that Pouncing Tigers was opening in El Barrio. I have always been interested in kickboxing and martial arts, and the classes at Pouncing Tigers do not disappoint.I am taking the kickboxing classes 3x a week with Instructors Ken and Anthony. Both instructors are very motivating and welcoming! From day 1 its obvious how passionate they are to their craft which sets the tone for the hour class.I am excited to continue kickboxing and in the near future learn Hapkido.

The adult kickboxing classes are worth every penny. Its the best way to start or end your day: having fun, feeling confident, and building your personal strength! You will learn kickboxing and self defense methods while meeting an enriching group of teachers and classmates. Also, it is a better workout than any gym class you could take. So if you are considering a gym membership, consider a Pouncing Tigers Membership instead.

Amazing classes for children, great learning environment for self esteem. Great adult kickboxing classes and fun. Each instructor has their own styles of teaching and you get a fabulous workout! Pouncing Tigers is AMAZING!!!I take the kickboxing class with Daniel and he is great. The class is not big so he is able to come around and give individual help to each student. If your form is not correct he makes sure that you do it right and he pushes everyone to really work. I have been working a lot lately and havent been to class in about two months but I enrolled for a certain amount of classes so when I cant make it I dont lose money by missing class. I would advise signing up for classes here immediately!

Teachers are super patient with children students while making it really fun and interesting. Students learn respect and discipline while earning higher level belts through showing proficiency.

Ive been taking kickboxing classes at pouncing tigers on and off for some time and i absolutely love it! Ive learned so much from all the instructors (Ken, Alex and Deborah) and love the mix of health and fitness each class provides. They are sure to correct your form and spend time with you to make sure youre doing well in each step. Love it here.

Took my very first kickboxing class today with pouncing tigers . I had heard people say it was good for fitness yada yada. I go to the gym pretty regularly and I thought , aah it should be easy and fun . Fun it was but easy not ! and in a good way. I have never had such an extensive work out in 60 minutes. Every single muscle was worked and the instructor is calm, funny and attentive. He would often correct me and encourage me . I am recommending this to all my friends . Defintely better than gym membership alone.
