Extraordinary Judo instruction. Sensei Gary is demanding but super clear in his instruction. Members of the club are friendly, look out for each other, and are willing to share information and training. An ideal place to train in Judo and Jujutsu in NYC.

I want to give a shout out to Sensei Garry and all of his students at Kano. It is a Dojo with a great floor, helpful training partners and above all serious martial arts instruction for someone who is wanting to learn Judo as well as Jiu Jutsu. Its a good vibe and professional from start to finish in a great central location in Manhattan!

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. A beautiful, clean, and spacious facility. Convenient class times in mornings, afternoons, evenings. Most importantly, the instructors are world-class, extremely talented and truly care about the students. They have a deep knowledge of their art, and take the time to patiently teach the smallest details. You will feel welcome here regardless of your experience level with martial arts. Come try out — you will learn a lot.

By far the best Judo Academy in the city. Sensei Garry St. Leger is an accomplished Judoka and an amazing instructor. High level instruction from a Black belt in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The academy aesthetically is appealing and pristine. Whether youre an experienced grappler or a beginner I recommend anyone to visit and try a class.

If youre looking to train Judo because youve always been interested it it or martial arts, THIS IS THE PLACE!If youre looking for a place that will get you ready to compete in Judo tournaments, this is the place. If youre a BJJer that is looking to build a stand-up game that is deeper than double leg or pulling guard, this is the place.Theres also wrestling, from the NYU assistant wrestling coach, which was definitely a change of pace for me, and has taught me some interesting drills and techniques. How good is this place? People training to make the Olympics are stopping by on occasion. Quality knows quality. This is definitely a place for hard training. Also, the location is very convenient to the ACE/123/FM lines.

Kano Martial Arts has amazing instructors and great sparing partners. I can really tell that the people are like family. The facility is also very clean. I practice BJJ and can tell that the students there have amazing ground work in addition to their superb stand up skills. The instructor is both a Judo and BJJ black belt and combines his knowledge in both field to teach a well rounded grappling class. I had an amazing time there and would highly recommend it to anyone.

This is a fantastic place to learn judo in the city. Garry creates a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the school, while clearly breaking down the mechanics of throws and submissions. If youre looking for a school to train judo, (whether as a complete beginner to martial arts or as a jiu-jitsu practitioner looking to learn more judo) then look no further than here.
