I have been singing for nearly 30 years, and the most amazing thing about David is that in very short space of time not only he recognized the issues I had developed but also made me undo and develop new skills that increased my stamina from singing for 30 mins to 3 hours.Its still long way to go but it feels like victory by just walking the right path.

I started taking lessons with Andy King and his lessons took me to a different level. I progressed faster than I thought I would and it made me want to reach new levels that I previously thought possible. His lessons taught me much about my voice and trained my ear and made me a better musician. I have been so fortunate to study with David McCall for quite some time. His warmth, humor, flexibility, and expansive knowledge about vocal technique and how best to use it to express musicality and meaning are second to none. I started taking singing lessons with Kristy Bissell at New York Vocal Coaching in April. I would definitely recommend her and NYVC to anyone interested in learning how to sing or being coached to improve their vocal technique or to enhance their performances of songs in their repertoire. Before I started learning from Kristy, I had never learned about vocal technique. I didnt even consider myself a singer. I had simply been learning guitar and Im a very creative person so I started writing songs and I wanted to learn the basic of vocal technique.Kristy is not only an excellent teacher - she is extremely encouraging and the perfect teacher (in my opinion) for students who are maybe nervous to get started and need that extra boost of a teacher believing in them to commit to learning music, which can be a vulnerable thing. Kristy definitely did that for me. At the beginning of this year, I could never have imagined that I would feel comfortable performing for others by now or how much my understanding of vocal technique and music has grown by this point.I have witnessed Kristys talent as a teacher, coach, expert, and cheerleader for her students in our individual lessons and also in how she brings her students together. She has organized singers hangouts on Zoom, Zoom calls to discuss songwriting, and introduced us to physical exercises to help with singing through having one of her students lead virtual sessions on Zoom.Another example of how Kristy goes above and beyond for her students? Shes organizing a virtual recital this October for us to participate in, so we can practice performing even during the pandemic. She also puts much effort into improving the virtual lesson format so that her students can learn safely from home and not lose value from the lesson.Kristy truly takes every opportunity she thinks of to encourage her students and help us find others to get to know and lean on for further encouragement while we continue to explore music. Andy is an absolute star! He has truly made a major impact on my career as a performer. Ive been working with Kristy Bissell for 9 months now, and its the best decision Ive made for myself. I wish Id started sooner. Ive noticed such an improvement in not only my technique, but my confidence is as well. Each class builds on the last and I can tell (and FEEL) a stark difference as weve progressed. Im Korean ENT doctor. and I can say that Justin knows about neck muscles and physiology of vocal cord better than most of the ENT doctors. I am a 63 y.o. male voice student (jazz genre; avocation). I reside in Connecticut, where I studied voice for 8 months and now travel to train with Julie Reumert on Friday mornings. Hard to imagine finding someone with a stronger background in the methods and principles of vocal training. We learn songs first “as composed” (discipline) and then proceed to improvisation. My range is improved, as are the quality of notes, tones, phrasings, etc., all of which make me more confident as a singer. I utilize virtually all of what I learn in class in songs I interpret. Working with Kristy Bissell has been one of the highlights of this year for me. Not only shes super cool and easy to work with, but an expert on her field and the very definition of going above and beyond for your students. She makes sure you understand the how, what and why of things and guides you to a better understanding of the instrument (voice) as a whole. Andy King is hands down the best voice teacher Ive ever had. My vocal range has grown beyond anything I ever imagined and he is helping me to sing in a way that feels easy and effortless, especially when I am struggling with a difficult phrase of particular note, he knows exactly how to make it happen. I was in need of vocal lessons and caching to prepare for an audition and found out about New York Vocal Coaching and my instructor David McCall through a mutual friend. I have always wanted to sing but for my entire life people have told me that I couldn’t. I assumed I was just tone deaf. I finally realized if I could sing passably I would open up about 75% more auditions to myself (especially in the summer). So, I called Matthew Johnson (who I had met while playing a non-singing role in West Side Story) and set up an appointment. Well, after some vocal exercises he told me I was not only able to sing on pitch, but that I had a very nice tone and a pretty large range. After four lessons I decided to take the plunge and actually audition for a musical at a regional theatre ...and I booked the job! Matthew is a miracle worker. If you want to sing I highly recommend working with him!

Ive been studying here with Julie Reumert for a number of years and I can honestly say my voice has grown exponentially since starting. Not only have they helped me grow as a singer, teaching me new techniques and aural skills, but theyve also helped me grow as an artist. During my time as a student, I was often afraid that I was too soft-spoken in a crowded room. Because of this, I found it hard to communicate effectively with strangers, professors, and other students. New York Speech Coaching addressed this fear and taught me different techniques to help improve upon my bad habits. Singing has been one of my passions since childhood, and when I think back to winning campus singing contests in high school / college, I can still feel the excitement to this day. As life progressed, I am so grateful to have developed in so many areas - a family with happy kids, a career in software engineering. But I had drifted further and further away from singing.After starting lessons with David, I was able to re-discover my voice and understand the physical structures of my instrument. I have learned to do head mix voice in a matter of weeks - something I was never able to do before; my range increased substantially and I am now able to hit high notes naturally which were difficult to do in the past. I have been working with Andy King for a little over a year now, and words cannot express the changes my voice and my level of confidence have gone through in such a short period of time! Stepping into NYVC and meeting David for the first lesson I might have been a nervous wreck. Almost immediately he was able to put me at ease. This is one of my favorite studios I’ve studied at in a very long time! After studying Musical Theatre at Marymount Manhattan College, I decided to change my career path. With that being said, vocal lessons were one of the things I wanted to continue — simply as a hobby. Around a year ago I decided to try this place out, taking my first lesson with the amazing Kristy Bissel. This was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Kristy is an amazing teacher and coach. I have been taking voice lessons with Andy King just short of a year. I cant begin to tell you how much confidence i have gained since starting lessons with him. He has helped me recognize bad habits that i didnt even know i had, which included a ton of tension in my jaw specifically. Weve worked on exercises to help relieve all that tension. In doing so, it has helped me tremendously. Singing has become easier, my range has improved, and im finding that my tone has been much more consistent throughout. Singing was always the most stressful part of auditioning for me, but now i can walk into that room with confidence, sing comfortably, and leave feeling good about what i did! I am a business professional who wanted to expand my singing ability... I had not sung outside of karaoke since high school. Working with Julie Reumert has been wonderful! We picked a couple of songs to work on and its been not only fun but very rewarding. Its shown me that I dont have to be a professional vocalist to express myself and my talent ! I have been working with Kristy Bissell, and she is the best vocal coach I have found after years of searching! Not only is she an extremely talented person herself but she has a vast knowledge of vocal anatomy and technique to help guide you towards any goal it is you have in mind as far as singing and performance. She has been able to utilize my previous experience as a singer and classical training to cater towards other genres which is what I had been hoping for. She has one of the most positive energies you could hope for in a voice teacher and she will always make you feel good about yourself even when she is offering corrections. Her patience is endless and shes just really good at renewing your faith in yourself as a performer. Her interest in her students sucess is palpable and she is just a wonderful person to work with!

I wish I could rate Justin more than excellent. He seems to have an uncanny knack for bringing the proper approach to sessions with his students; for instance, I prefer an analytical, biological approach -- I want to know whats going on inside my body and how it shapes my sound. Justin is extremely well-versed in that kind of approach. If you prefer something less analytical, he can do that too. That kind of flexibility in a vocal coach is seriously priceless. And, as Im not trying to be a traditional musical theater/opera/or even pop/rock vocalist, Justin has tailored our sessions to what Im trying to achieve (which, to be honest, is some odd vocal stuff) and hes already helped me hone my precision & placement, and erase thirteen years of bad habits.Look, not every vocal coach is for everyone, sure, but you really, seriously, truly owe it to yourself to at least have one session with Justin to see if hes the right guy for you. Because, if he is... oh, the places youll go!

Our son goes here for voice lessons. His voice is much stronger and it doesnt tire out like it used to. He still has a great voice but he can sing and sing and sing now. The lessons are definitely paying off.

Ive been going to New York Vocal Coaching since last June. I only visited out of pure curiosity to see if my voice had any potential to be of performing quality. Little did I know that this would be the first of many visits. So what made me come back week after week? My vocal coaching lessons with Travis! At my first lesson I learned that I was singing with improper breathing technique, which in turn decreased my volume. I also gained confidence as a singer, which is a major plus because I was never supported in the performing arts. Another reason why the lessons with Travis are so great is because every lesson is different even if youre working on the same problem. Youll never be bored. As a singer, I gave made a great deal of progress since I first arrived at New York Vocal Coaching, my breathing is a LOT better, (even though its still a work in progress), and my vocals as a result are way stronger. I always leave here in a better mood than when I came in, (music is therapy), plus I always learn something new.

Im from Brazil and I was in the US for 2 months, but since I didnt have my trip schedule totally figured out I couldnt book my lessons in advance. New York Vocal Coaching team was absolutely AMAZING helping me get all last minute cancellations so I could make the best out of the short time I had in town. I ended up having several lessons with Justin. He is unbelievably talented as a coach! With only a few exercises he can spot everything you need to work on to improve your technique and performance. You can really see he is passionate about teaching and truly commited to his students. I find it awesome that he designs exercises specifically for the students voice and helps you understand how and where they work so you dont feel like youre only practicing weird scales that make no sense at all. Taking lessons here is addictive. That is to say, I find that my lessons with David McCall seem to have me hooked. I started off singing a couple of years ago with friends jamming mostly at festivals. I loved to sing as a hobby and I always got so much positive feedback on my voice. I had never received any professional training at this point, but I knew I had a good voice and that I loved to sing for fun. My main issue was that when I would sing I would always yell and not use any proper technique - which caused me to lose my voice after singing about 3 songs. The New York Vocal Coaching Teacher Training Course is a fantastic vocal education program. I have studied many similar courses on the market, but I dont feel that any of them can touch Justin Stoneys course. Im much more confident now as a voice teacher in working with a wide variety of age groups, student levels and vocal challenges. Justin is an excellent teacher and has an uncanny ability to make esoteric and/or difficult concepts and subjects easy to understand and user-friendly. I feel that I have greatly improved from taking this course, not just as a teacher, but also as a singer myself. My only wish is that there were an advanced course that I could take after finishing this one! :)

With no prior experience ever, I plunged into lessons with David about a year and a half ago. I wasnt able to match pitch whatsoever and could hardly ever tell if two notes close together were the same or higher or lower. I really had no musical experience whatsoever. Despite how awful I must have sounded, David encouraged me and gave me confidence to continue to improve, so much so that I was able to sing in a choir, and perform several group cabaret acts. Over the last month or so, David and I practiced a couple of songs for me to sing all by myself (real scary!!) but I sang them in front of 15 people and did amazingly well. Ive still got an awfully long way to go, but I love the challenge and love my lessons with David!

Worked with Zac for 3 to 4 months. He is very easy to work with, and help you achieve your goal along the way. He has a very good academic background when it gets to explaining technical knowledge about producing voice. The coaching style, as least for me, puts emphasis on basics, such as using lots of air to support whatever you want to do next.

Ive been going to New York Vocal Coaching for about a year now and I am more than happy with my time here. My teacher is Julie Reumert and she has completely changed my voice for the better. Not only is my technique in such great shape, she helps me explore what styles really fit my voice best. They really offer such amazing services. When I started lessons with Andrea Grody, I was an experienced singer, but I always felt that certain songs were inaccessible to me because they required a high belt that I thought I didnt have. I came in with the goal of finally learning how to belt, and Andrea helped me do exactly that. With Andreas guidance (and her never-ending patience), I can now belt as high as Ill ever need to go, and it doesnt even feel difficult anymore.Andrea is great at meeting you wherever you are, vocally, and then pushing you to go beyond what you thought you were capable of. One of the best things about Andreas lessons is that she always gives feedback in a positive way. I never feel like Ive done something wrong, but I can feel the growth and changes in my voice after only 3 months of lessons. Andrea is awesome!

As a young Assistant Cantor, I faced a challenge to keep my voice strong and healthy throughout intense weekends of singing. Then, I became a full-time grade school teacher and needed to use my voice powerfully 40+ hours a week and be able to sing through weekends.I googled around looking for a great voice teacher and NYVC came up organically in a couple of different places. I called in and got a lesson with David McCall relatively quickly. Their rates were also reasonable so I was excited to get working.The studio is in Midtown Manhattan, a block from the subway, and just being on Broadway and 36th has its own awesome feel! Stepping out of the elevator was also an experience, as it opens straight into their beautiful, yet comfortable studio. There is an immediate positive vibe from the staff.David put me at ease right away with his complete absorption in the lesson, his demonstrating some weird and ugly sounds and a sprinkling of good wit. I definitely tested his patience asking and questioning every step of the way, and he, with a smile answered every last thing I wanted to know. By our third lesson, I was already applying my new skills to my voice. The results are staggering. People are consistently telling me about my weekly improvement! David is a person I look up to for his easy going character, his professionalism and his ability to connect with a very diverse student group. His lesson style is never boring, and you can tell hes been preparing tailor-made exercises for you in between lessons.

Kristy is the absolute best - she’s so patient and easy to work with. Really knows the tricks at any level!

NYVC is amazing. Justin Stoney is kind, encouraging, extremely knowledgeable and willing to work as hard as I work. He really wants me to improve. He will go as deep technically as I want to go by giving me detailed explanations for every thing he asks me to do. Or he will just teach me by showing me and let me learn by doing. He is an expert instructor who adapts his teaching style to my learning style. And he can really sing - he demonstrates every thing that he asks me to do. His scheduling team and administrative staff are remarkably accommodating. I am certain that every other coach working for NYVC is the same because Justin is a “laid back perfectionist” who would have only the best working on his team. If you are serious about improving these are the folks to work with. BTW the skype lessons allow for incredible nuance.

While visiting New York this fall, I had the chance to take a few lessons with Justin Stoney at New York Vocal Coaching. I really loved it. Justin was heartfelt and he seemed to understand immediately what it was that I needed.I strongly recommend New York Vocal Coaching to anyone who has the chance to go to New York. You dont need to be in town for long, just go and take a lesson or two. It is great fun and I can assure you, you learn a lot in a short period. Justin knows what he is doing. Ive been to more than 20 teachers by now, from all over the world, I know what Im talking about.They say that great teachers seem to be miracle workers and Justin is just that, a miracle worker. I knew I sounded good before the lesson, Im not a beginner anymore, I mostly know what Im doing. But I also know that during the lesson and after it, I sounded way better. I know singing is not just about range, but the fact that I hit an A6 at our first lesson didnt hurt. Thanks to Justin, now I have new exercises to work with to keep singing better and better. I love NYVC. I love the environment, I love the atmosphere and I love going there because it has been an inviting and safe place for me to develop my singing. I have been working with David McCall since August of 2013 and it has been an amazing journey. He is an AWESOME [awe-producing and admiring] instructor with so much insight and knowledge to share. He is genuinely interested in helping you learn and develop your voice. I literally went from struggling with vocal nodules to no longer having them and I know he has been one of the main influences and source for that. I laugh and joke in every lesson as much as I learn and develop my voice. His lessons are tailored to my needs and my development and outside of my lessons I remember what he has taught me. There is no rush, there is no specified curriculum made to follow and there is no special formulas! He simply opens your eyes to see how simple singing can be if you just let your vocal chords do what they were made to do.

When I first came to NYVC I was super nervous about it and within 5 mins Kristy made me feel super comfortable and I knew instantly that she was the teacher for me.
