Columbia Greenhouse provided an incredible learning community for both of our daughters and the whole family. It was wonderful to know we werent navigating the joys and challenges of early childhood--parenting, school applications, learning milestones, and more--alone. Uncertainty is an inevitable part of life, but its so helpful to be certain your young children have caring, supportive, highly skilled educators.

Columbia Greenhouse Nursery School is an ideal place to begin an education. One of the oldest preschools in the country, the teachers and staff are dedicated and brilliant at what they do. The schools progressive approach fosters passionate curiosity and critical thinking. And, the parent/child community cannot be beat.

My daughter has attended for 2 years. Teachers are warm, kind, and knowledgeable about early childhood education. Children leave this school well-prepared for kindergarten in independent or public schools. The director Renee Mease advises on kindergarten application process and knows a great deal about the private schools in New York. All in all a wonderful school.

Columbia Greenhouse is an incredible nursery school with classes from 2yrs to pre-K. Both of my children have attended, and it is a loving, supportive learning environment with excellent teachers and a warm family network. The kids learn through play, and the experienced teaching team is skilled at supporting their development from very young through more advanced exploration.School Leadership really gets to know each kid, and guides and advises each family through the specific needs of their child. Leadership is very knowledgeable about both private and public school systems and is supportive of each family in their individual process of research and application for Kindergarten.  Greenhouse has excellent exmissions - I know kids who have moved on to several of the top private schools as well as great public schools including Hunter and Manhattan School for Children. I felt like I had a professional NYC Kindergarten admissions advisor/therapist walking me through that challenging process.We got really lucky to have learned about Columbia Greenhouse when we did.  It’s an absolute Upper West Side gem!
