Today we took our daughter in for a full hair color for our teenage daughter who is on the Spectrum for Autism. Hanna V. did absolutely great with her. Hanna went above and beyond explaining things to her. Talked with her about choosing a great color that she was desiring to get. Everyone at school made our girl feel comfortable and beautiful. From the time she walked in, sitting in a salon chair, and all the way to paying, our daughter felt like a “normal” teenager getting her hair done at a salon. Which at times can be challenging. I would recommend anyone and everyone here. Hanna did amazing and our daughter is beyond happy with her new hair. She has shown everyone she can about her new hair.

She is very knowledgeable, and with total performance of adapting from a classroom setting to the customer’s hair. I went in to see Kathleen for a facial and I’m experienced in facials at day spas dermatologist offices, etc and I would have to rate this one right up there with the best of them. She did such a good job and I was so pleased with the instant results in my face.It was an awesome price and I’m wondering why I went to the expensive places for so long!

Veronica was excellent and exceeded my expectations. There is always a bit of anxiety while getting your hair cut by someone who has not cut your hair before, but that was not the case here. I have gone back every time to see Claudia for my hair! She is wonderful and knows exactly what she’s doing. I have recommended her to a few friends who also adored her and have continued to go back to see her. Claudia is amazing!!

My phone was dead so I needed to use the phone at the front desk to call my grandmother. It was loud in the salon and she couldn’t hear me. The next day I found out I had been banned from the salon for being loud on the phone at the front desk, little did they know I was talking to an elderly woman. I’ve been giving my business to this salon for years and without even asking me any questions they banned me from the salon. Such a traumatizing experience. They have absolutely no compassion for the elderly and that is quite surprising with how many elderly clients they have. I tried reaching out to the salon, but they won’t even talk to me. I’m just sad that this happened, but who wants to give your business to mean people like this in the first place?

Today was the first time Ive gone to Capitol School of Hairstyling. I went in to get highlights to cover my roots/grey. This was, hands-down, one of the best highlight jobs Ive had done, ever. Jenni was professional and personable - a pleasure to talk to. Gord came over to help with the foils (my hair is fine, but I have a lot of it) and he was fabulous, too.I would not hesitate to refer others to these students, and Ill absolutely be back. :)

Jenna Russo is always so professional and cuts my hair exactly the way I want. As someone in the military who has to cut their hair at least once every two weeks I’ve gotten plenty of cuts. I can easily say that she exceeds my expectations every time.

Took a picture of hairstyle I wanted and was given a razor cut and hair only about half an inch long all over my head nothing like the picture! So was given a free hair color which I just went back for and the color turned out good because the instructor helped decide what colors to use however after getting it colored it was not checked. went home only to find a half an inch of color all the way around on my forehead my neck behind my ears! would suggest the instructors do a better job checking out their students work.

Its cool to give the students an opportunity to screw my hair up. Haha Im kidding. It was perfect.

If youre browsing reviews wondering if its a dicey idea to go to get a service done at a hair school, here is the review you need to read. DO NOT GO HERE! Ugh, what an awful experience. I had an appointment on for a balayage and cut. The girl who did my hair complained about how sick she felt (in a pandemic, great...) and made me feel uncomfortable talking about how much she hated this specific hair school. If that wasnt bad enough, she took 7 hours to do my hair!!! When drying my hair, she started looking nervous and I knew something was wrong. My color turned out soooo blotchy! She basically told me it was because my hair was still wet (it wasnt?) and she added some curls to cover up her mess. I was so exhausted after 7 hours at the salon that I just wanted to leave. I went home and checked out her work in the mirror and natural light and literally cried at how awful it looked! I called back the next day and explained I needed a color correction. I was then booked in for another appointment for an instructor to look at see if it needs to be fixed. I came in for said appointment and another girl said that an all over low light would fix the blotchy look. After 5 hours of foils, she dried my hair and... it didnt fix anything! The instructor came around and told her to hand paint over the blotchy blonde (why wasnt this the first correction attempt?). After another few hours... you guessed it... The hand painting ALSO didnt fix it. So here we are, 7 hours again in the chair, and after 3 attempts its still NOT fixed! The instructor asked if I could come back a FOURTH time!!! I do appreciate them trying to fix such a horrid job but, um, I dont have a free enough schedule to spend literally 20 hours a week at a salon and WHY do you think I would be comfortable enough to keep letting your students touch my hair? I left politely and, in the end, paid $200 for a horrible experience!!! (I thought this was supposed to be more economical?! Guess not?!) I eventually went to a professional salon and they did a PROPER color correction (in less than 3 hours haha). Dont waste your time or try to save a buck by going to this school. Youll just leave crying. I wish I could rewind time and never have gone here.

I called to help assist my sister in getting her hair fixed after Killigan completely destroyed it and spoke with Mr. Stacey Tessendorf. He was extremely rude and refused to offer any assistance in making the situation right. He refused to even repeat his name so I could make note of who offered assistance.After arguing with him- they restricted my sister from returning all because I called and asked how they could make the situation right. We will be contacting the board of Nebraska!

Im very happy with the haircut and beard trim that I had done. The students are very friendly and they are continually checking with instructors to ensure that they are achieving the clients desired results.

The front desk people are really friendly and I didnt wait long for my appointment at all. Blair was super down to earth and did a great job deep conditioning and styling my hair. I had a few questions about different styles and she answered them well (even showed me a picture to illustrate what the finished product would look like).My only complaint is that the salon was pretty full despite not being a peak day. It wouldnt be an issue normally, but with covid in mind its pretty much impossible to social distance there. Everyone is masked and they did touchless temperature screenings at the door, so theyre doing the best they can with limited space. It doesnt worry me a whole lot. But just so others are aware that it does get hectic. They could really use more washing stations too - again, not the fault of the employees/students. Overall a good experience!

The facials are great. The students are great. But the new hair instructors are trash af. The blonde instructor girl said to me “you sure you want this ugly style hair?” She was so RUDE I almost walked out. And the instructors used to help guide students, these new ones don’t at all. I waited 20 min in my chair before even getting started bc all the instructors were in the break room the entire time I was there and I was there for a good few hours! Luckily the student did an amazing job. Wouldve given 5 stars if that blonde instructor lady wasn’t so cold/a total Karen. 😒

By far one of the best salon experiences I’ve had! I was a little hesitant since it was a school but I feel amazing and can’t wait to go back and get my hair done again. SammyTee gave me an amazing hair cut exactly what I asked for. I can’t believe she got my very dark, thick hair with greys and previous color to look so healthy with beautiful highlights. She asked good questions and listened to what I wanted while making recommendations. She asked for 2nd opinions when needed but also kept my wants and her knowledge in mind. SammyTee was patient, fun and easy to talk with. Jessica who assisted was also very friendly and so so helpful. I’m felt at ease and very grateful I got such great results!

Terrible!!! Went in for a haircut for my teenage daughter at 5:30, finally left shortly after 7:30!! What took 2 hrs!! The girl had no idea how to cut hair but instead of helping her they just left her slowly struggling. After over an hour she didnt even have the back done. When I went back to check on her, thats when they started helping her more but it still took another 45 minutes. The haircut will need to be fixed it has noticeable lines in it but not there! When my daughter got up her whole back was covered in hair on her clothes. Knowing I was not happy about the whole experience the floor supervisors ( Mike in particular) thought it cute to loudly say Have a great night. The front desk people when I explain I was not happy with how long it took said oh well we are a school and each kid is diffrent. Kid she clarified as stylist when I said what? She also thought it cute to loudly wish me a wonderful evening. I never raised my voice, asked for a dicount, or said anything mean against anyone.AVOID THIS PLACE AVOID!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!Sad this is the customer service they teach.

My gray hair is covered and my brassy highlights were toned down and my stylist was the best. My son said I looked younger. Ask for Mackenzie, she will do exactly what you want done and you will look beautiful.

I love going to this place! Its so affordable and I think its fun to interact with the students there. They always have one of their professors check their work, to make sure you get what you want! I got my hair done for my wedding here and loved it! Plus I donated my hair recently, and they took care of shipping it! Obviously there is variability with the results given that there is high turnover of students, and they are students, but I think its worth the risk!

Unfortunately this ia not a testimonial of praise; however, one of displeasure. Capitol Beauty School has been regarded as one of the best in the business. I brought my two bi-racial children to have their first experience in a beauty salon, as well as, I rook a chance and elected have my hair cut as well. It saddens me that barbering is not a specialty service offered, in particularly, for course ot simi-curly hair. Out of the 3 of us, I will give credit to the gentleman who styled my oldest child...Wow, great job!I wish I could say the same for myself, at best, I can say I was entertained. The action of cutting my type of hair made my stylist nervous. Needless to say, my hair cut and style did not come out well at all; as a matter of fact, what I received was a pushed back hair line and a barely touched hair cut. Impartially speaking, my youngest childs hair cut I would grade it as a 4 on a scale of 10. Multiple plugging and a noticeable hard fade line; not to mention, an unfavorable hair line.As a consumer client there are certain expectations I anticipate when entering a specialized place of business. The school offers a huge selection of salon and spa services at amazing rates! The salon is lovely inside and the products used are top notch. The students do a great job and are frequently check in on by their instructor. Audrey gave me a wash, cut and blow out and my hair looks awesome!

Chicago was absolutely amazing, there was also another lady assisting her and I am just beyond amazed with the results. I’ve been coming to Capitol for 6-7 years and still have yet to be disappointed! Amazing amazing amazing! The before and after picture is awesome! This was my first visit to Capitol and I was impressed! My facial experience was lovely - my skin and my soul needed this rejuvenation! I loved the products that were used and the quiet dark room with soothing music playing while Autumn worked on me. She was informative about each step and gave me a written list of products she used on my face for future visits and also so I could purchase if I wanted to. Im ready to schedule another facial and look forward to booking with Autumn again! Next time, though, Im going to try other services as well!

I asked for highlights to cover my new grey hair and the instructor put my natural color on, and then expects the student to foil over it to highlight it, WTH, I got over charged. One thing I find unsettling, there are nothing but men walking around as if the place is a prison, and the students are prisoners learning a trade and being watched. Where are the women, the laughter, the smiles, the fun. Its just a cash cow for the owners. When the girls graduate, theres no decorating their station, no confetti, no standing by the punch clock and doing a count down for the last clock out.Cosmetology Licenses takes in most cases over a year of full time study, its like a second home, but this was like a stiff regimen prison.

Great time there. The teachers ate very involved with their students! I would recommend this place. Tiana did fantastic on my hair!

I went in this evening for a color retouch and haircut. Karol did my hair this evening and I am so pleased! She is totally passionate about cosmetology, you can tell with the way she treats you and her knowledge. She was so kind and went above and beyond making sure I was happy with the results. I rely on them quite a bit, and ask them questions, since they have so much experience in the beauty industry. The teachers are helping me with questions on thinning hair. I have already had some improvement in regrowth. I am very satisfied with Capitol. The women that greet the clients as they arrive are so friendly and always have their hair. makeup, and apparel, looking attractive and professional.

The students who color & cut my hair, always do it perfectly. I always walk away with a smile on my face. My pocket book is happy also, because the price is far less then other salons charge for the same service.

Finally got my hair fixed and the experience was 10000x better at Capital vs Xenon. From calling to explain what my current hair situation was and them looking at when I could book an appointment making sure they would have a student who has enough experience to fix the mess to me showing up this morning and having a skilled student named Luna and instructor to help her through the process! They made the process simple and put a lot of effort into the products they used to get my hair as blended as possible! 10/10 would return for my next service and 10/10 would recommend anyone to check them out and get services done professionally at a reasonable price!

I recently visited Capital School of Hairstyling & Esthetics. I was pleasantly surprised with my service and experience here. Everyone was friendly and I felt relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire process. I enjoyed the interaction between the instructor and student. It was interesting to hear how and why my cut needed to be done in a certain way. I do not have an easy haircut. The instructor had a natural talent with providing knowledge with the student whenever she had questions. He didnt provide the answer immediately. Instead, he helped the student gain confidence within her own talent. As a parent myself with teenagers, I appreciated how he helped her grow not only as a professional but as an adult! I recommend Capital School of Hairstyling & Esthetics!!!

The young woman I was assigned to was very pleasant,concerned about my needs,and did an excellent job of listening to my instructions as well as the instructor.
