OPS has been a great school district to work for. I love how culturally inclusive they have become. They make a clear effort to provide equitable resources to parents & students of all backgrounds.

The way you have the teachers teaching the students is laughable at best. If the teacher is confusing me by making math more difficut than sensible, how on earth do you expect the children to learn anything? And on snow days you have these teachers teaching from inside their homes? Its ignorant. Youd be better off doing homeschooling.

Test, tests, and more standardized testing! There are some really great teachers at OPS. Unfortunately, all they are allowed to do is hand out tests and teach to fill in a circle. Too many administrators getting paid for NOTHING. Regular, daily fights in the classroom, hallway, everywhere. Inmates definitely run this asylum

The school my child went to last year never changed our address. Even though I put the new address on paperwork at the beginning of the year. Now Im worried that because of the school that they chose for her to go to, is based off the old address. Now I cant get ahold of anyone to make sure that she has a bus to school. The phone isnt being answered and theres nothing helpful on the website. Im very frustrated!!!!!

Im very familiar with the tac building. Its like any other place in a city where you must go to sign your children up for school. You can also take your GED test here, I did and it was a great experience in 2008. As far as the personnel in The Community Services area their a hot mess their not out to help you. My past experiences with them have proven to ne our education system is screwed and will continue to be when u have personnel positioned in areas their not fit for. Basically if i didnt have to deal with them regarding schooling for my kids I wouldnt.

Ive had three kids graduate from Omaha Central high school. One girl, two boys. Each followed a different path and loved their school. I could not have asked for a better experience for my children. Each has gone to a different college and were able to excel and acclimate thanks to the preparation they received at Central.

They refuse to place my child in a school of my choice and stated that bullying is not a serious enough reason to do so! This is what they do and then want to take you to court for truancy. The district is understaffed and have hired uncaring people. Its probably best to homeschool your children. Omaha public schools is merely free daycare. I would give 0 stars.

You always speak to a real person when you first call, which is a plus. I’ve been several times to the TAC building for pre-k screening, events, and hearing tests that are free and thorough. Everything is well-organized and you are seen on time for all appointments. All events at the TAC building have been amazing. My three complaints are transportation, pre-k screening, and whatever changes were made that made us lose all the teacher assistants this year. Our bus driver was suspended several times so drivers are sent after they complete their normal routes making the bus an hour to two hours late every day. They split our route into two, so at two separate times kids come to the pre-k room interrupting the class. They still have to feed them breakfast too. The call center is overrun with phone calls, so when I try to call to say don’t send the bus because we will walk this time, no one picks up. To get pre-k screening done takes more time then I’d like it to. Usually you have to wait two months or so after initial contact.

I am an OPS parent of 3, 2 of whom are autistic. I removed my son from the preschool program due to their lack of info regarding several injuries that resulted in hospitalization... I spoke to at least 6 people about him not going back until kindergarten, but was still receiving calls, threatening truancy (over a pre K aged child?!). And it took 3 months to finally stop getting calls. Also, my daughter was being told by a teacher that she could not have certain things because she is white by a teacher. After many messages up the chain of command and 4 trips to the TAC building, they did finally agree to a move, however, the teacher was never disciplined. OPS needs to get their stuff together so they can spend more time actually teaching...

Horrible. To start, the enrollment desk was rude. So I ended up going directly to special ed section to do my paper work. You have to be on top micromanaging everything, or else it does not get done. My childrens paperwork got lost in the system, because someone transferred. My 2 I was enrolling are autistic, and they placed them in normal classes. They didnt even contact me back for over a month, so now well be running late on everything due to several peoples errors in that building. This gets 2 stars simply because after micromanaging everything started going towards correct placement, the IEP team was nice, and after talking to a few supervisors we MIGHT only be minimally late for everything.

They do not return calls, I was told to call in February to enroll my child into PreK and that the Elementary School my older daughter is in has PreK. I finally spoke with someone today who said that they do not have PreK at that school and that applications for Pre K ended in April......WTH!! I am very disappointed

My child started High school this year and after doing fully remote schooling last year he is back in school full time and having a hard time adjusting because he is autistic. Ive had several problems getting in touch with his special education teacher then once I did he said he would do everything he could to help my child succeed but still hasnt. Several of his teacher has put in missing assignments when I looked up those assignments he has done them and turn them in yet they refuse to post his real grades. They are just basically discriminating against him they wont give him the help he needs in algebra which he has asked for several times I will be glad when he gets out of ops. I have also contacted the tac building and they want to do nothing as well. All I get from them is the runaround Im so done with OPS.
