Toured this school a couple weeks ago because I thought it would be a good fit for us. I think the teacher that brought me around was Vicky?? Beside the point. When I was told tuition price it did not add up to the school. They want $1300 for the toddler room. They are parent provided so no food or snacks are from them. The school is all beat up, playground is not age appropriate and they have two tarps on the roof. She brought me through the kitchen to go into the other room and it had a horrific smell and did not look clean at all. They didn’t tell me if they have a cleaning crew but it sure seems like they do not.I will not be wasting my money here. The philosophy is great but the school is not the best. I could find something for that price with incentives also. So we will be going to the science center instead.

When deciding which school to send my son, we toured several schools (bright horizons, ladybug, primrose, etc.). The other schools had all the right brochures and keywords, but just seemed sterile, like mass production plants of toddler care. When we arrived at baldwin oaks, I felt like it was a different place, from the massive oak trees that shaded the playgrounds to the interesting knick knacks and lessons in each of the buildings. Yes, things are a little worn but I think that lends to the charm. Even better than the beautiful environment are the teachers. Attentive without overbearing, they teach according to the montesorri principles of child autonomy and independence so that the child sees the world, with all its diversity and beauty, as a place of discovery. In addition, this spirit of discovery is based on a strong foundation of math and science. For example, math is not taught just with rote memorization or worksheets. Mathematical concepts are taught both visually and tactilely, to reinforce mind with muscle. The child is also encouraged to work at their own pace, so there is no limitations set in the childs mind. The ultimate goal here is for the child to know a concept as opposed to recognize a concept. My daughter and son had Ms. Holly and Mrs. Vicky. From what I saw, the other class had the same teaching philosophies as well. The administrators, Mrs. Lyman and Mrs. Sharon, are fantastic.

Ive been taking the kiddo here for almost a year now, and its been a wonderful experience. The previous daycare we used was good, but nothing particularly extraordinary. At Baldwin Oaks, all the staff are friendly and caring. The Montessori style resulted in immediate changes: the kiddo has become more self sufficient by wanting to clean up after playing, washing hands, getting dressed by themself. I feel its much better than just having playtime for most of the day.The school itself is a little worn around the edges (this is definitely not a new facility by any stretch), but well maintained. The office does have have a fingerprint scanner for check in/out, but otherwise not much else in the way of technology such as cameras, electronic doors, or online payment. But these minor inconveniences are far outweighed by the staff and the way the kid has developed this past year.

Baldwin Oaks Academy is one of the best montessori in the Winter Park area. My child has been going there for the past 3 years, and we all love it. The teachers are what makes this school the best - they have some very experienced teachers, who have the skill to shape your minds to be very good children: both academically and socially. The owner is a very sweet lady and keeps the mood light. They have a great outdoor space for kids to have lots of outdoor fun, just like I remember having in my childhood days. I will highly recommend this montessori school.

My son went here for 2 years and it was the best experience. Its only daycare, Pre K and Kindergarten. The whole place is shaded with huge trees and they have an amazing playground. My son eats lunch outside every day and plays outside more than half the day. And it is Montassouri style teaching.
