Great Basin is a fantastic place for aviation. They provide a great platform to learn how to fly with top notch instruction. If you already have a license, they feature a great fleet for rentals. I personally just rented a plane and flew up to Boise, Idaho. They also do scenic flights and discovery flights. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. If you are interested in aviation, I would highly recommend you chose Great Basin!

Love this place. Love visiting with Jennifer. She’s so nice and is so pleasant to be around. Super informative. Because of them I got hooked on flying!! Purchased my own airplane because of them. There student aircraft are super clean and safe and well maintained. Love you Jennifer! You are the most beautiful women are earth.

I have nothing but great things to say about Great Basin Aviation. I earned my Private Pilot License with them in August of 2020 and continue to work through my instrument rating. Safety and customer service are values that run deep, as the owners Denny and Jenn do everything in their power to ensure the students and instructors are taken care of. Denny can typically be found down on the ramp ensuring their fleet of about 10 Cessna 172’s are in tip-top shape, while Jenn is the first to greet each student in the office with a warm smile and the keys to an airplane. Additionally, their wide selection of instructors ensured that I was matched up with a CFI that aligned with my personality. I am grateful that I found a school that provides such high quality aircraft and flight instruction for a reasonable price. If you are looking for a Part 61 flight school to become a safe and proficient pilot, look no further!

Great instructors, great facility, planes are in great shape. Shout out to Nick Mahan, my instructor. Patient, calm and knowledgeable.Been training recently with Bob Bennett. He is very knowledgeable, calm and thorough.All the instructors here are really good.

Great flight school, Ive used them all the way through my private pilots license. They have a big fleet (mostly C-172s) and a lot of instructors and are really helpful for any stage of instruction.

Great Basin Aviation took over from Flying Start Aero in February of 2018. I started my flight training in March, and have been impressed with my experiences thus far. Great Basin Aviation provides quality instruction, excellent planes, and stellar customer service. Heres a list of the things Ive found to be positive and important.1) There are a variety of instructors to choose from, which means you can find an instructor you feel comfortable with. The instructors are all knowledgeable and inspire confidence. Additionally, the instructors all work together. If you have a question and your instructor isnt immediately available, one of the other instructors will step in and help.2) The planes are in excellent condition and maintained at the highest level. There are no beater planes at GBA. Its not uncommon to see Denny or one of the instructors washing the planes just before a flight to ensure its in top condition for the students and renters. (Students and renters are expected to leave the planes clean, but Denny goes the extra mile.)3) Scheduling is conveniently done via a website, where you can easily see what instructors and planes are available. When unexpected scheduling conflicts have arisen, Jenn or Denny reached out via phone and or text to communicate with me, and resolved the matter.4) Customer service is important to Jenn and Denny, and they go out of their way to ensure positive experiences for both students and renters. For example, Jenn assisted me with a scholarship search and application! Just before my solo flight Denny encouraged met to contact him with any questions, even though he was out of the office on vacation!5) Prompt and convenient billing. Flight training is not an inexpensive endeavor, but Denny and Jenn make it as painless as possible. It is not uncommon for flight schools to only accept cash or check for training. GBA accepts credit cards, and handles their billing promptly. There are no surprise bills months after youve flown; I usually get my invoice within 24 hours of my flights.If you’re considering flight training, it’s worth doing your homework and shopping around. The time and money you’ll dedicate to flight lessons will be the basis of all you future experiences in aviation. Great Basin Aviation was hands down the right choice for me.
