If you want to go to another generic music store that only has ukuleles, go to this store. Workers tried to sell everything, and anything without considering that you might think everything in there is garbage.Extremely unimpressed. Was told there are not having jams right now, but they clearly are hosting them weekly. so as for being a community, that’s shot as well.P.S. it’s spelled review. The fact that you decided to respond with less than proper grammar at midnight, and claim my “review,” is false speaks volumes.

Definitely coming back here. The owners were delightful and a pleasure to talk to. I was blown away by the collection of instruments they had: banjos, banjoleles, ukuleles, mandolins, guitars, autoharps, fiddles, dulcimers, drums, and so much more. Its a dream for people like me who love old time music and folk music in general. Hopefully the jam sessions start up again soon––I look forward to participating. If youre a musician in the Reno area, I highly recommend you visit!

We stumbled into the Mountain Music Parlor and were immediately greeted by the owner Renee. She invited us in and gave us a tour of the building. It is a historical Reno home that was built in 1906! They have unique gifts for music lovers, music lessons and live shows in thier stunning hidden backroom. Renee offered us coffee and told us about all the cool shows they have hosted. This was a real diamond moment for us. You just dont get this special interaction from walking into a place for the first time. We were blown away and are excited to come back to see one of their live music shows. 😄

I called on the phone asking about guitar slides to use for my uke and when I arrived the owner Renee had a full selection of different slides laid out to choose from and made sure I left with one that was just right! She was super welcoming and had a very diverse selection of instruments, books, and other accessories thoughtfully displayed in multiple rooms. Definitely not your average music store, in the best way possible!

Rene was so helpful in helping me find an instrument! I felt like I was being welcomed into a friends home as we walked around talking about the different instruments. Shop local friends, these folks were great.

Wonderful place! My daughter has been taking fiddle lessons from Miss Renee for a little over a year. Its so worth driving up from Carson City. Miss Renees positive and upbeat style works well with my daughter. She has fun AND learns! We have enjoyed the student recitals--especially how the teachers accompany the students--this adds a level of professionalism to the show that is unique. The guest artists and workshops are amazing--hard to believe all this is happening in Reno. There is a strong community atmosphere, whether shopping in the store, listening to a jam on the porch, or hanging out in the country kitchen while your daughter learns a new song. We are lucky to have this welcoming space to learn, play, and listen to music!

I had the best time listening in at a Swedish music jam on a Monday. Where else can you hear nyckelharpa and listen to musicians chat and play in an informal, friendly setting? If you are interested in purchasing a travel violin (we bought one), made in the US by Magic Flute or learning about music, stop in and meet the owners, Renée and Donald. They also teach music and host concerts at the Parlor and can advise you on the American heritage music scene in Reno.
