It’s nice in all but both instructors were not welcoming

This is an excellent traditional Karate school. My 6yo son has been attending for half a year, and I was so impressed that I recently joined as well. There are adult classes during the week, which is great for people trying to start a new practice or get back into it.I recommend this place for anyone regardless of age. For kids its a very good mix exercise and discipline, teaching them to focus, try their best, and face challenges head-on. For adults, its a great way to exercise, earn a skill, and let your mind reset its focus and relieve stress.

My kids have been going for about a year now so I wanted to wait before writing the review. Sensei is great and instills discipline and hard work into his students pushing them further than their mind thinks it can handle while at the same time being supportive. I have 4 students that go there from ages 7 - 15. He breaks them down not only by age but skill level and size and constantly makes adjustments so they dont get bored/overwhelmed. With Covid we had to take a break for a few months which worked out even better since they relocated to a new and bigger location. Now the kids are spaced out and Sensei takes precautions such as mask and hand sanitizer. i highly recommend for all levels regardless of starting age 5 and up.

A great class that your kids can really learn karate. There are many places that you can get black belt in one year easily. But do you really trust that kind of black belt? The teacher here is strict, tough but nice enough to learn from. Nothing to complain.

Good for big Kids.....not appropriate for 4yr old.....I paid for 8 classes, but cant wait to finish all of them.....instructors here are definitely good to teach only big Kids but they dont know how to deal with small kids and let them understand how to follow instructions....they should offer trial class for small kids before register for full time, like other institution we found after disappointed from this place.My son is mentally & physically good fit as per his medical records, one of his instructor asked me, dose ur son have any disability!!....Really is this can be a question to someone just for asking for permission to use restroom in middle of the classes!!.....i was really surprised & disappointed.....

The Dojo offers quality instruction for all ages. Sensei has a deep appreciation of the history of Traditional Japanese Karate and is able to teach very well to the level of the student. Focus on health, positive attitude and growth long-term. Highly recommended for both adults and children!

Its really fun and a lot harder than I expected! Im taking it for Katyisd Off Campus PE and they offer classes almost everyday. I feel like Ive improved a lot in a really short amount of time.

My son has been doing karate for more than 2 years and he truly likes this place. Discipline, hard work, encouragement. One must earn his belt. Sensei is always willing to work out and accommodate student /parent needs.

My kids have been with this place for more than 3 years,and are very happy with it. The school atmosphere is very encouraging and professional at the same time, cultivates an environment of personal growth, respect , physical and mental strength and learning. My kidsre showing an increase in confidence and self-esteem. The instructors are very passionate about karate , the school and their students. This dojo is a great place for boys and girls as well as for adults. The only real Japanese style karate place in Katy. Highly recommended.

The instructor is very good and has patient with his students to develop Shotokan skills. The students has been well respect to the instructor. My kids goal to reach black belt. I highly recommend Katy Dojo.

My son just started with this dojo (2nd class). So far he is enjoying the experience. I like the fact that he is not just learning but also getting a good exercise out of this. Sense is experienced and does a good job keeping all the kids in order to ensure that the kids gets the most of the class without distractions.

It’s a very nice place, my daughter loves to go to her Karate class and will not change it for anything!! She likes the ambience, the students and the Sensei.

Very professional and disciplined atmosphere. Builds a good attitude in kids. They learn to respect others and believe in themselves. We are happy.

Outstanding dojo!!! Ive attended classes as an adult more recently and absolutely love it! Sensei Siamak Tavakoli is very knowledgeable and super positive. He knows everything there is to know about Karate and the kind of understanding for not only what he teaches, but he knows each student and what they are capable of! Sensei Siamak Tavakoli is a pleasure to speak with and he is great not only with the kids, but with everyone around him, making us feel comfortable and at home. It is an active learning experience, in which the sensei and higher belts are always ready to help out. Sensei puts lots of hard work into his classes and pours his heart into teaching.

Before I start, I would like to mentioned that I have been practicing several years at this Dojo, so this is not a review of someone who just showed up to the Dojo for couple of days!!If you are looking for a place where you can get belts every two weeks or by just coming to each class regardless whether you are actually learning/improving your techniques, this is not the place for you or your children. However, if you are looking for a place where you want to truly learn traditional karate, with discipline, and working hard to deserve your rank and be proud of your rank/belt once you get it... then look no further! Katy Dojo is definitely the place for you and/or your children. The Dojo has the right combination of instructors for young kids and adults for all levels. You can be a seasoned martial artist or a beginner, and believe me, you will be challenged, and enjoy it everyday you go! Sensei Tavakoli does not run the place as a money making business, Sensei truly cares about the quality of karate and wants/encourages all the students to perform at their best!! The Dojo has several advanced adults that are devoted to karate and that helps motivate the youngest! And also makes it interested for other adults that really want to go to a place where they can practice with more adults.By the way, just to clarify another post.. they do let you try couple of classes for you or your children before you commit with any payment! As I said... Sensei Tavakoli does not has this place for the money! He is truly devoted to teaching karate!Come and learn/practice Karate-Do Shotokan!!!

This dojo is the best in Katy even in Houston. We are here for over 3 years and my kids learned a lot in this dojo. Sensei Tavakoli is a nice person. He knows karate well and he knows how to teach the students better. We are so lucky that we found this dojo in Katy.

My son Keanu recently started karate at Katy Dojo. Sensei Tavakoli helped make the process easy to start. He works with parents with their needs like scheduling. I like his firm stance on teaching. Martial arts is not a game. If your child doesnt understand their philosophy (Dojo Kun) they are others could get seriously hurt. Im placing my trust in Sensei Tavakoli and team. Thank you.
