Drum lessons with Mark has been great!! He is able to break things down and make them simple so you have a clear understanding. Hes great at keeping you motivated and I always leave the lesson feeling uplifted. Im an adult and its nice that I get to learn what I want to learn - not just learning out a book. I highly recommend him!!!

I am 49 and started with zero experience and couldn’t read music. Within a few months not only had I learned important fundamentals, Mark helped me find ways to play along with songs way above my skill level. Mark is exceptionally patient, encouraging and of course knows his stuff. His studio is setup perfectly for him to demonstrate and then observe my performance. Mark is open to different learning styles and answers my never ending questions about technique and equipment. I definitely recommend Mark!

Mark is such a wonderful teacher who is easy to communicate with & learn from. Whenever I’m not quite understanding something, he’ll adapt his approach so I can really get it. He’s encouraging, but always makes sure I’m pushed just outside my comfort zone to continue growing. He makes sure I have time to express any concerns or questions and always gets back to me really quickly. He’s fun to learn from & I love that he has his own studio space that isn’t so commercialized like it would be in a music store. Mark allows our lessons to adjust to my pace & I always leave feeling accomplished, like I’m really pursuing something great, and makes me want to get back behind the set again.

Ive been learning how to play drums with Mark since January of this year and Im so happy he ended up being my teacher! I feel Ive made lots of great progress during the last few months and I can play the drums better than I had imagined In would before starting :-)

Mark is the 3rd drum teacher my son has worked with, and he is most definitely the best! My son is quite shy and not always the easiest to communicate with, but Mark has done great with him, always showing kindness and patience. Drum lessons with Mark have been wonderful! Mark is an exceptional drummer, himself, and an exceptional teacher, as well. Each lesson feels very casual and relaxed — I never feel rushed. At the same time, I’m always surprised by the amount of new stuff I learn at the end of each 30 min lesson. Mark is great about tailoring your lesson to YOU, and I always feel like I leave with lots of suggestions and things to practice at home. Additionally, Mark has been able to work around my crazy schedule! I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to juggle a busy job and drum lessons but Mark makes it work! I recommend him 10/10 for anyone looking to learn the drums!

Mark does a fantastic job conducting every lesson, customizing his approach based on the level of the student. His follow up after each session is exceptional as well, providing direction in both written and video format via email that can be easily reviewed during practice time.

First of all, I’m an old dude, at 59, but I decided last winter to learn the drums. My wife found Mark online, and I made my first lesson appointment.It didn’t take long for Mark to show me, he can play lots of great chops, ........ and also teach them!!He’s a great dude, with a good sense of humor, and a boat load of talent that he’s willing to share with his students! Who could ask for more?!Now I just need to practice!!

My 9-year-old daughter has been wanting to learn how to play the drums and I was fortunate enough to find Mark Henderson. She has started taking lessons from “Mr. Mark”, as she calls him, and she is really loving the whole experience. Mark has all the qualities of a great teacher: he’s very knowledgeable in both music theory and practice, he focuses on fundamentals and technique, he communicates very well with my daughter, he’s able to quickly identify and work out problems in her playing, he always answers her questions (and mine, as well), and hes very patient and very encouraging. He also has a funny sense of humour.My daughter always looks forward to her weekly lessons with Mr. Mark and I never have to remind her to practice (unlike the piano, which she also plays). Mark has done a wonderful job teaching my son the drums. My son has autism and learning disabilities and he looks forward each week to his drum lesson which speaks volumes to Mark’s patience and ability to work with special needs students. Mark starts them on a practice pad and provides take home practice instructions, so I was not required to invest in a whole drum set st my house.

Mark is an awesome guy with a passion for music. My daughter loves her lessons with him. He a definite asset to Richmonds music community.

Mark is a professional through-and-through. Hes consistent, organized, and very knowledgeable. Aside from his thoughtful guidance during his lessons, he assigns meaningful and helpful homework to practice at home. His homework assignments & guided lessons have helped me grow as a drummer immensely.

Mr. Henderson taught my son snare drum for a few weeks, but the impact that he gave my son was huge. He was such a good teacher. My only regret is that we didnt find him earlier.

Our daughter has unique tastes in music. Mark was flexible and perceptive enough to accommodate her learning style and tastes. He has a relaxed and supportive demeanor as well as being very knowledgeable and effective at his craft.

Mark is an amazing instructor. As an adult student it isnt always easy trying to learn a new instrument, but hes very patient and encouraging. He is teaching me fundamentals but using the music I love like The Beatles, Dead, Rush, Zeplin to do it. I have a really busy schedule, so that connection to songs I know really helps me stay motivated to keep practicing. Plus he shows me how I can practice even in small moments like while Im driving or in the office. I feel lucky to have found such a top notch drummer and performer to teach me.
