Anyone who wishes to be a CNA should take this course. I really believe the staff sets you up for success from day one and they do everything in their power to help you succeed. The rest has to come from you. I think the class has an awesome focus on not only the mechanics of skills but also patient care as a whole and it was an awesome experience to actually work in the field and grow connections with our awesome residents. I loved skills and clinical and hope everyone will give this program a chance! You won’t regret it!

I took the CNA course with Mrs. Rivers! At first I was nervous about how the class was going to go considering the ongoing pandemic, however, most of the class was well planned out! Mrs. Rivers, who was both one of our main instructors and the owner of the school, is VERY passionate about what she does and it is very apparent whenever she teaches. The other instructors Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Morgan are both very talented and compassionate about their work, between all three, they share a wealth of knowledge about the field of Nursing. I highly recommend this course and VSNA above all the others, in terms of having some of the cheapest prices, but also the highest quality education with some of the highest pass rates in the state!

Ms. Rivers is an excellent instructor however I have an ongoing issue with her. I paid for the CNA AND Med tech combo class in 2020. Due to the pandemic we werent able to complete our clinical hours, she then said she couldnt find anyone that would let us into their facility. So I took it upon myself to find us a facility who agreed to let us come in, she sent an email back in March saying the clinical contract was in the process of being signed and she would inform us when everything was all straight. I can say that to this day I have not had any clinical time nor have I been able to get in contact with Ms. Rivers. I have left several messages for her to call me back but I have heard nothing. This is absolutely ridiculous, she is still carrying on with her CNA classes so Im not sure why she cant get our clinicals straight. Again, she is an excellent instructor however I do feel she has taken advantage of us. I also sent an email about two weeks ago with no response.

Absolutely worst experience I ever had. There are soooo many hidden fees that you aren’t aware of when you enroll and no communication whatsoever. Miss.Rivers sent my class off to clinicals without coming herself or sending someone with us. There is obvious favoritism in the class and she will kick out students or make them retake the course for another fee. I had to wait until after graduating to write this review because I was scared she’ll kick me out as well. Don’t waste your money, there are many other better and cheaper options.

Overall my experience here was ok. I graduated and was certified which is what I needed. However, this was not the smoothest or most organized program. Ms. Rivers would consistently throw random rules at us ( ex: if you don’t finish ___ by tomorrow you’re out of the program) with no warning. There was a lot of struggle finding a place to do clinicals which I thought was pandemic related, but if you read reviews from years ago that was also a problem then. Also, there were a TON of tiny charges that were out of no where. The website 100% said that the test was included (that’s why I signed up), but ms. Rivers changed that and made us pay. We also had to pay a $35 cleaning fee to take the test at her location, which she said was to wash the sheets and replace the gloves, etc that we used (we all brought gloves at the beginning of class anyways). Safe to say by the end me and most of my classmates were frustrated.

I can honestly say that Virginia School for Nurse Aids was indeed the turning point in my career. Initially I was a little apprehensive when deciding to go back to school having been out for 20 years. However, I was reassured once speaking with Ms. Alison who was the secretary then. There was definitely a lot to learn in the lecture class within few weeks. But Mrs. Godard made it very interesting and did an excellent job teaching the course. She has a extensive knowledge in the medical field as a registered nurse. The skills lab was putting to use what was learned but again we had a teacher (Mrs. Morgan) who knew her job well being a registered nurse too. She gave us a lot of insight on how it would be in the real world and made sure we were prepared before graduation. I can not say enough about Mrs. Rivers. She was very professional and went above and beyond in ensuring that this program was held to a higher standard than other schools. Mr. Sean as well as herself made it possible for students to come back as much as they needed to prepare for the state boards test. So I am very appreciative of this school and will recommend it to anyone who is considering a nursing career or even transitioning into the medical field as I did!

I highly recommend Virginia School for Nurse Aides to anyone looking to complete their nurse aide certification! The course is divided into three sections - lecture, practical skills, and an actual hands-on clinical rotation. The classes are fast paced, but the instructors (the amazing Mrs. Godard and Mrs. D) ensure that you thoroughly understand and are willing to work with you one-on-one. I really enjoyed the small classroom size and personalized attention. Even the director and office manager (the fabulous Mrs. Rivers and Mrs. Shelton) are available to answer questions and demonstrate techniques. I really felt that the professional staff is dedicated to the success of each individual student. My overall experience was amazing, and I am so glad I chose to take the first step in my new career path with VSNA. Review №98

My experience at Virginia School for Nurse Aides was very unpleasant. I would definitely not recommend anyone to take any kind of training here. The owner is very rude and unprofessional, and does not conduct business appropriately. If planning to attend, be careful before signing up. They will do anything to get more money from you. If they do not have the desired amount of students to start a session, they will make you wait until the next session, despite it being a completely different time frame than what you paid for. In addition, they will not issue a refund if this situation occurs. However, I must say the other than the owners and her assistant; the other teachers are very friendly and courteous. The teaching areas are very old and the equipment is outdated, so do not expect to be learning in an up-to-date environment. My biggest advice is to read, read, and read, the contract given before signing. There are many additional expenses that they make sure not to discuss with you until they are expecting a payment. They offer a CPR course that is not certified by the American Heart Association, so will not be helpful when applying for jobs. They will NOT tell you this information when you sign up for the course, so do not take it there. They also ask for an additional $15 to take the board exam at their facility. (Anywhere else, the test is included in the cost of the course). The clinical site was absolute horrible. You will not get adequate training there. The staff are very unprofessional and do not properly train the students. They actually just try to get you to do all of their work. Overall, I would not recommend this school to anyone. There are far better places that are worth the money spent.

Overall, I have enjoyed my time at this school. There are some things that have irritated me, but something I love is that they listen to you. At the end of the CNA course you get to review your instructors. They take any complaints seriously. Ms. Rivers is absolutely amazing. It seems like she genuinely wants everyone to succeed. She shows interest in you and is always eager to help. Very approachable. I also did the med tech program and Doctor McDonald was a hoot. She knows her stuff and is a great teacher. Shes professional while also being casual and approachable. The only big issue I have with the school is their attendance fees. Even with a doctors note, you still end up paying a fee for missing a day, something that I find absolutely ridiculous. I understand that having people pay a fee discourages students from skipping, but there seems to be no forgiveness or understanding that we as humans get sick on occasion. All exams are also done in the last 45 minutes of the day. It leaves students stressing about the exam all day. I think it would be extremely beneficial to do the exams at the very beginning instead.

It was hard for me to go back to school at my age but Mrs. Rivers and Mrs. Morgan made it easy for me. They were hands on with us, not just reading from a textbook. Im glad I chose this school, this school may not be for everybody but just dont read the reviews, go up there, see for yourself, they give tours!!! What I have learned about this school is, their are wonderful teachers here that are making a difference, a bigger and better program for the students and I met some wonderful people again the way!!!
