My sister in law did my hair here while in class. It turned out beautiful! The teachers are great. Personable and fun!

It was good but so it was great clips too I just didnt get to finish it off it was five star alsofantastic outfit and I love the way they do the work on my hair and just thankful for everything okay take

I always had a good experience when I went on a weekly basis. I would have to dye my roots, have my hair washed, blown and flat ironed. The students would treat you with respect. The students were always trying to please their clients. The teacher would always supervise to see if you were pleased. Thank you Shear Ego.

When you absolutely love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. Working at Shear Ego is exactly how I feel each day when I go to work. I am so fortunate to work with the most professional and knowledgeable instructors in the industry. There is no way to describe how happy and proud I am when I see my students and former students succeed. Knowing that I have touched their lives in a positive way is truly the most rewarding experience.

I have worked at Shear Ego International School for almost a decade and I can honestly say that I love what I do! The entire building radiates professionalism within a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Being surrounded by individuals who are passionate about the beauty industry (both students and staff) while being able to witness students pursue their dreams makes my job VERY rewarding. I see my co-workers (instructors) take on each day as a new challenge to create a solid foundation for learning. The director/owner is very generous, personable and actively works in the industry as a hairstylist. As an employee who wears many hats here, I want everyone to know just how much energy, passion and determination goes into making Shear Ego International School the amazing facility that it is!

Great school!!!! They offer everything from cosmetology to aesthetics barbering and even waxing specialist course. The teachers are good, but the aesthetic and waxing teacher is the best. Would deffenly recommend taking a class with Ms. G. Everyone wants to see you be successful. The owner has a open door policy with the students and is always there for them. When you leave you are a trained professional ready to succeed in your trade.

I have had the pleasure of having cosmetology student Julia Schwind color my hair for the second time. She has an outstanding personality, sweet as can be and is wise beyond her years. She is getting ready to graduate in two weeks and whomever is lucky enough to hire her will not be sorry. Your a wonderful person Julia and should be very proud of yourself. Congratulations!

I am very disappointed in my experience here, I felt like they were deceiving at my tour and orientation. The full time instructors don’t care about what goes on among the students. I tried reaching out to instructors after a situation occurred and they wouldn’t give me the time of day....I switched from days to nights, and the part time program is so much better. The instructors provide more personal instruction and it has a stress free environment. Mr. Ellis and Mrs. Case make their students feel comfortable and supported. I would not recommend any of the full time programs to anyone.

I currently am a barber student at this school and its the best decision i have ever made. The teachers and everyone in the building makes the place such a happy enviornment to get my barber education in. I Highly recommend this school. It will be one of the best decisions you have ever made. You will not regret it i promise.

My daughter has been looking at cosmetology schools to attend in the WNY area and beyond and after considerable research and family deliberation, we were all in agreement Shear Ego was the obvious best choice. The instructors seem much more invested in their work and their students success. We got the impression it wasnt just a job to them, but a reflection of their profession. Even the facilities were top notch, much more like a real salon environment rather than a school setting. Were looking forward to my daughters learning at Shear Ego and I recommend them highly.

I honestly am so pleased to write this review. I have been going to Shear Ego to Ms.G (Allison Gabello) and her great student Melissa for about 3 weeks now. Every week they have been doing treatments for my skin to help with my acne problems. I have been suffering with this for years and nothing has ever helped me. There were even times I would cancel plans due to my skin conditions. Ms.G is teaching her students to listen to the clients concerns and to observe the skin to assess the client properly. Her dedication to helping her clients astounds me! I highly recommend anyone who would like to experience this amazing place to go immediately set an appointment with her and her class! I am excited to continue this journey with her and hopefully better my skin and be able to not wear makeup to embrace my natural skin! Thank you Ms.Gabello and Melissa for taking the time to help me in whatever way you can!! I love you both! 💜

I graduated from here 15 yrs. ago...My experiences here were truly amazing and educational (not to mention-FUN)‼️ I would not be the person of Cosmetology thatI am today: I learned extensively while having fun doing so! I had a very positive experience at Shear Ego’s school—specifically, the Barber Program. All of the teachers are extremely knowledgeable and willing to help in any way they can. Also, I thought the tuition was reasonable for the education received.

Wonderful atmosphere and staff! Proud to be a waxing student. Only complaint would be the rule against bottled water in class or clinic and standing around when we could be waxing or learning. But not enough to not give the school ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!!!

I love this place! i go there all the time to get my undercut done, the men do a perfect job. they talk to me and make me feel welcome! i am actually going back today to get a haircut! i highly recommend this place!!!

My experience at Shear Ego was phenomenal. The education was very thorough, the instructors are amazing with the students, and you will really feel at home here!

Ok so I got my brows done there and I get the girl is learning still but I heard she was about to graduate and I was upset bc I woke up and near my eyelids the middle part and my brow had been wax burned and it hurts SO bad your not supposed to put wax on rip it off and do the same spot over and over that’s how you get your skin burnt and omg it’s awful I had to go to my first day of school like that sheesh.

If you dont mind being a test subject, its not a bad place for a quick cut.

I have been getting my hair cut here for 5 years. I am always treated well and get a good job. Plus you cant beat the price.

Shear Ego Beauty School in Irondequoit was THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. It was honestly horrific. First I asked them to dye a strip of my hair purple and it came out red. Unmistakably red. When I pointed out to them that it was red and needed to be fixed they unsuccessfully tried to convince me that it was purple. So eventually they dyed it again and it was still red. But I politely payed and went away with red hair, thinking their students must just need more practice. It wasnt until about a week later that I met someone and happened to mention that my hair was accidentally turned red instead of purple. This person then proceeded to tell me that she had recently graduated from that exact school and they do not carry the products that can make my hair purple. THEY LIED TO YOU. Obviously I was very upset about this. If they cant do what a customer wants then they should kindly explain to the customer that they are not capable of that service and make a suggestion of something that they are capable of doing. I went back to the Shear Ego School of Beauty the following day and politely asked them why they lied to me. They made up excuses and said that my hair had a tint of purple although it was red. Eventually they admitted that they lied to me, although they were extraordinarily rude about it. Most importantly, they did not apologize.You should not go there.

Allison Gabello is the best esthetician and makeup artist in the business and a great teacher

I recently graduated from Shear Egos esthetics program. First of all, Ms. G (Gabello) is one of, if not the best, instructors Ive ever had. She makes it her mission to make sure you know EVERYTHING - from hands on work to the science and theory behind everything to do with esthetics, to developing a professional and confident attitude in the field. Our class was a bit larger, but she always did her best to make sure we were all taken care of and paid attention to.Since graduating, I quickly secured a working position in my new field. My boss, as well as fellow employees, say that they KNOW I came from Shear Ego based on the knowledge I have, my professional demeanor and confident attitude. I attribute that to everything I learned from Ms. G!!! I absolutely recommend the esthetics program with Ms. Gabello if you are looking to be (and work) at the top of your game in this industry.

I was a student at shear ego, my teacher at time(Ms Magen) was lazy and didnt teach us the right techniques. Would rather be talking on the phone than teaching us. When we complained about it we were ignored by OWNER. When i first came into the school we were told we would get 10 mannequins heads to practice on and throught the course we recieved 4 mannequins heads. We rarely were allowed to experiment with colors and different hair cuts and when we did, it was limited. They give reviews on the exam but when you go take the exam, it is completely different. I had to buy an outside book in order to pass it. SHEAR EGO IS BY FAR THE WORST SCHOOL. WOULDNT RECOMMENDED AT ALL STAY AWAY SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE!!!!

You know what makes a business super unprofessional? When you send them a private message on Facebook to voice a concern and they BLOCK you mid-conversation! When I called the salon, they said that the business office controls the fb page. I USED to be a loyal customer for over 5 years and used to tell everyone to go there and support them. But Ive learned if you ever have a negative experience and want to share it with them, it becomes clear how unprofessional this organization is. Its a shame because the teachers and students are so sweet and professional.
