I have been going there for about three decades. Love my doctor. The hospital is great too. Emergency room gets backed up but they are great too. It is a popular place and huge. I like that they have specialty clinics for probably everything so no going to outside doctors or hospitals.

Emergency room wait time 3 hours or more because there are no beds? ?🤔A hospital with good customer service and knowledge of their bed status would have rerouted me if my emergency would have not meet level of care.OVERRATED!

The communication between Medical staff in all departments truly made a difference. Dr. Chin referred my case to their Pallative Care Group. Based on the doctors concerns, they evaluated my prescriptions and immediately changed my medications to help alleviate the side effects. They also recommended their Home Health Department contact us to set up a schedule of therapy to help me while the new medication stabilized. Their discharge department even researched all of my insurance restrictions to make certain we could afford the new medication and instructions. It is the very first time I have felt safe and experienced the care of each and every employee. The wait in the ER was explained that due to the number of tests required creates the time necessary to evaluate the problem before anyone can diagnose how to solve the problem. Please remember to have patience for the Staff as they are thorough and each case is new! They are amazing! Thank you!

Generally UC Davis Medical Center does a great job of getting your emergency health problem squared away. My kids had a wonderful doctor there. My experience didnt go so well. In, if I remember correctly, late September of 2009 I could not get out of bed. I was in excruciating back pain unlike I ever had before. I had no one around so I called the ambulance. They loaded me up and took me to the UC Davis emergency room in Sacramento. It was busy as usual. Finally the doctor saw me and said I had a severely strained back. I told him my pain was worse than that. He said all he could do is give me pain medications and told me to get therapy. The next day the pain seemed to have doubled in intensity. My mother had come up from the Bay Area to take care of me. I told her to take me to the emergency room. Unbelievable but I had the same doctor and he told me the same thing. He said I had a sever back strain and to take my Vicodin. My mother contacted her doctor in the bay area and the doctor said to take me to San Mateo County Hospital. There they put me through an MRI and found I had tuberculous of the spine and not a bad back strain.

After being in a terrible car accident and was transfered to trauma 1 where I had about the worst treatment you can imagine in a hospital. Was told I couldnt eat after midnight preparing for surgery and 10AM rolls around which I can live with and said it could take to 5 PM if it even happens. They then forgot about my pain treatments after. What a coincidence! I hope nobody else in need has to deal with this BS. Hopefully my surgery doesnt end up with something sewed in.

My mom went there when she was pregnant and when they found out that it was her 6th child they were angry and told her that she should have came earlier because they could have easily done an abortion, then they started trying to find other ways to stop the pregnancy. She NEVER wanted an abortion! She was lucky to come out of there with a baby. They treated her so bad because she had a lot of kids. Why do these people work in the maternity ward if they dont like babies??

I have never posted reviews before but…I have never posted reviews before but the WARNING needs to go out. I have been generally happy with my care from UCD for the past 10 years, but I have rarely been as frustrated with ANY company as I am right now. Last year, as I always do, I set up routine physical exams for myself and my husband at the UCDavis Medical Clinic on Madison Ave. I have been doing this for almost 10 years with no issues. I requested, as always, ONLY the basic services that are covered by my insurance, United Health Care. I have never had a problem before but this time they charged us over $1500 in lab fees over and above the covered basic services that were requested. I would NEVER have approved $500 to see if our vitamin D is low...I would just buy a $6 bottle of Vitamin D and take one each morning. The charges are ridiculous, certainly high enough for them to cover insurance specialists or at least a warning sign and a strong mention from the receptionist that tells me I have to figure out what services are covered by my insurance even with a basic physical. When I called to find out what the problem was, United Health Care indicated that due to some Obamacare changes, they didnt cover what they used to. United Health Care indicated that they had sent out extensive software and letters and requests to all of their providers (including UCD) to inform patients of additional charges no longer covered. UCD says they have no way of knowing, (?!?) that somehow I am supposed to know all about health insurance practices. THESE WERE ROUTINE PHYSICALS, certainly they should be able to provide me with ONLY the requested and authorized services. The lab slips are unreadable to the layman. I did not authorize anything more. Even my little 2 person dental office will provide needed direction about insurance coverage BEFORE they provide treatment.I am appalled at the lack of accountability and customer service that has been displayed by UCD Patient Relations. All they did was resend they billing to the insurance. Insurance customer service agents there told me earlier that with proper codes, they could pay some of the charges, but UCD refuses to even try...a weak appeals process involved resending what they had already sent to the insurance company.

My family uses CIGNA insurance so we can go just about anywhere, but we chose UC Davis because of the high reviews. We are sorry we did. During my sons first surgery at UC Davis the discharge instructions were wrong and we were treated like it was our fault we called when the instructions clearly required us to do so. My son was discharged after spinal cord surgery two days early after being rushed out of the hospital and then developed a high fever. He was ten months old. The next time he was admitted (from another hospital ambulanced on over) because he was turning blue adn having difficult breathing, once again we were pressured to take him home. It was one in the morning and I was not doing that until I was sure he was gonna make it and I discovered that the IV bag they were giving him was for another baby. He had a seizure in the hospital just as they were rushing us out while he was being treated. The medication list on the wall was for another child. The hospital is dirty. Specialists request follow up visits but you cant schedule them because the staff wont schedule three months out and then they NEVER call. But Thats not it folks because they have chronically scheduled procedures and then cancelled them AFTER I have taken time off work and the worse is they have an attitude like its your fault some other person is more critical then your son. No Im sorry if you schedule a heart MRI with no warning and then cancel TWO times Im gonna be annoyed. Same for his other procedures. And they cancell last minute as in 4:55 the night before a 8 am procedure. No warning just an emergency came up. Well I have an emergency too, keep pulling these stunts and I will be unemployed. Next is the whole hurry up and wait. Appointment at 2:45, no worries you will not be seen until 3:30 oh but you gotta wait with your kid in a tiny room with no toys, food or entertainment for nearly an hour for a two minute check up where they ask things like what medications is he on Um same ones as last week einstein how bout you look it up.
