Just my opinion, but this is the place to be in San Antonio. My brother moved to SATX, and when he asked where he should train, I recommended RPBJJ. Professor Rodrigo is one of the most accomplished competitors from his generation and has built one of the strongest teams in Texas. My gal and I were supposed to leave to SATX on Saturday, but my brother suggested I leave Friday, stay with him and we train on Saturday at 11AM. I was excited to train at RPBJJ due to their style of heavy pressure passing. Majority of the guys were out at Kissimmee, Fl coaching the at IBJJF Kids Pans or competing in the IBJJF Orlando Open. Professor David conducted an awesome class covering armbar, omoplata and triangle. He covered setups, and what to expect/do when countered from a guard passer. My brother and I did the technique together, which was followed by specific training using the positions covered, then we broke off into five 6-minute rounds. I got to roll with high level blackbelts, train hard all in a very welcoming and friendly environment. I highly recommend training here, or if you are passing through this is the place to stop at. Professors David, Manny, Tony were all great training partners, and I look forward to seeing these guys again in the near future.

This gym has been so great for our family. My little girl has really grown so much as a person. The coaches are wonderful, really special people that love and truly care for their students. I couldn’t be more impressed with them.

Walked in here barely knowing what jiu jitsu was… best decision I’ve made in my life. The only thing that triumphs the knowledge I’ve gained (which is truly world class) is the greatest group of family and friends that have come along with it.

I started Training at RPBJJ a couple years back (maybe early 2018) and so far my experience has been phenomenal. As a female it’s always something scary to try something new in a sport mainly dominated by males however Rodrigo and his staff gave me a first experience where I felt welcomed, accepted, and most of all I felt like it was okay to have no clue on what I was doing. Fast forward 3 years later I don’t see myself training anywhere else! I’ve gained so much from this gym like self defense, discipline, perseverance, weight loss, and great friendships! They’ve created an environment of acceptance and value whether you’re a competitive athlete or not. All locations have top instructors and they really do their best to make sure you understand the curriculum. They are all very friendly and welcoming and always make you feel part of their family. If your looking to train with someone based on their title and accomplishments RPBJJ is definitely on the list of gyms to look at but if your looking for a gym that will help give your fitness journey meaning and really push you to be the best version of yourself, no matter your age, then RPBJJ is FOR YOU. Amazing and life changing experience. Professor Rodrigo is an inspiration to all and has the respect and admiration of his students. From the first class everyone goes out of their way to help you and create a family atmosphere. So much so that I am now taking my 7 year old son to the youth classes which has created an amazing bonding experience.Oh...and you totally get to roll with your friends every night! I have been training here for about nine months. I travel around the US for work and have trained all over. This is hands down the best BJJ school Ive ever trained at! Ive trained with RP for 8 months and I am very excited with my progress. Rodrigo is great at explaining techniques and pointing out common mistakes before you make them. His advanced students all have a solid foundation and Rodrigo encourages everyone to explore the style that fits their own body type and athletic ability so you end up with several people you can learn from in every class. The environment is friendly and there is a good mix of students who just want to train and those who are really competitive.

This academy has honestly been one of the biggest factors in my life. Day in, day out, there is always something that puts a little bit of stress on somebodys day. For me, the gym has been one of the biggest ways for me to alleviate that stress and anxiety, it acts as an escape from all these attributes. Every time I walk in I know I will be walking out a greater and more established person. The environment, the teachers, and the community that has been built is remarkably rare. It can be said that many places are almost impossible to replicate the type of postive energy that is radiated in this gym. RPBJJ is truly a place of great existence.

I spent the last 6 years training with Rodrigo and all the team there and with minimal exposure to any BJJ atmosphere outside of Rodrigos I had little idea of what how it compared to other gyms. Ive recently moved to the northeast and after trying out other gyms (that are actually pretty decent), I now realize how amazing of a gym RPBJJ really is. Completely aside from its high level, top notch technique, the gym has an extremely tight knit community filled with TONS of individuals who genuinely care about everyone else there. Most of his students I assume might attend for this reason, but very few of them are truly aware of how high level and highly respected he is in the BJJ competition scene in Brazil. Being the humble character that he is, it appeared hed rather just show them instead. Even while teaching full time, he sets the example by still continuing to actively compete and win at the highest level all across thew world. In BJJ, I quickly realized there are black belts; then there are black belts. All in all, whether youre a full time competitor or weekend warrior, RPBJJ is truly a family that will take anybody in and its really rare to find another gym that would even compare.

Everybody is friendly and willing to help each other advance their Jiu Jitsu. This establishment is also very military friendly. Being in the armed forces myself I have had many obstacles to my training like deployments but Rodrigo has been most understanding and helpful.
