If youre looking for a coding bootcamp that forces you to be on site and working in groups for 90+ hours/week and/or if your motivation to learn and grow derives from external pressure, then Codify might not be right experience for you.Codify is all about what you make it. From 15hrs/week (minimum) up to 15hrs/day: youre in control of how intense your learning experience is going to be. I personally spent every minute eating, breathing and sleeping code. I got what i wanted: a job as a software engineer, with no prior coding experience. The mentors are incredibly nice and cool dudes that really, really care about your future and what your goals are. They also help you out with extra projects you want to work on (i was working on a fashion app). Youre not just another student in a big batch of people with a strict learning agenda. Its much more like hiring private teachers. Every day they checked with me 1:1 and made sure i, as a student, am able to achieve anything you want. I also like that Codify pays attention to the small things which make you feel comfortable and safe --- like ordering food late at night, getting your favorite Starbucks and sit down with you for hours if necessary to get you unstuck. The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but dont tell you what to see. —If you have a clear goal, are ready to do whatever it takes and -- most importantly --believe you can do it, then there is no better (and more affordable!) coding bootcamp than this one. Promised. :)

Codify was the best decision Ive made to advance career. After researching different boot camps for a little over a year and calling 5 different boot camps and asking my long list of questions, Codify stood out as affordable, flexible, and reputable. After attending the first class, Codify blew me away with their teaching style, support, and encouragement. Within a year, I doubled my salary and earned my dream job, working as a front end developer in the gaming industry. Best money I ever spent hands down.

This course was great. The delivered what they promised and much more. When I started I had been trying to teach my self coding for about 2 months. I learned more in the first week than I did the entire 2 months of trying to teach myself. Now I can make full websites from scratch. In terms of the job search they were super helpful. They consulted me after every interview, phone or in person. They critiqued my resume several times, and helped me find all the best avenues to apply on. I now have an awesome job, and am making a pretty penny too. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn front end development.

I decided to enroll in Codify Academy after a couple of years studying programming on my own. The part-time schedule, along with the mentorship of my instructor helped me get my skills to a level where I felt confident in my abilities. I now work as a full time web developer, earning a living doing what I love.

Matt has built an incredible company with his brothers, and his ability to teach others (in a positive and engaging fashion) is wonderfully infectious- he gets the best out of his students. Towards the end of our coding Bootcamp, Matt was our career counselor mentor and provided us with invaluable game plans to ensure our job hunt success after the program. Codify Academy feels more like a family than anything else and that’s a testament to the owners’ visions.I worked hard every single day, constantly pushed my limits on projects, built a portfolio of 10 websites/apps and had interviews by week 14. Life Changing Experience at the Best Bootcamp Price in San Francisco. What are you waiting for?

In a nutshell: great front-end bootcamp if you have personal responsibility and commit to doing the work and studying & learning from the coursework. This is a part-time course (1 day a week for 3hrs in class, the rest at home), teaching you the fundamentals of front-end web development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Vue.js and more. You will come away armed with the experience, tools and knowledge to build functional, responsive modern websites and a complete portfolio of projects to show off to employers. The mentors are friendly, very helpful and want to help you succeed. Additionally, the team works to ensure the material being taught is up-to-date, with new videos & guides constantly being created.

Codify Academy is an amazing coding bootcamp. You will learn a lot about Front End development and how to get from point A to point B in just a few months.Their Front End program is really straight forward, simple, easy to learn, and great mentors.I definitely recommend codify academy for anyone who wants to get into the coding industry. You will learn a lot and be able to absorb different type of languages. When I first started out I was really rusty with html and css but I didnt give up. After the 4th month, I started to realize that I am coding like a real developer like Ive been doing it for years.Thank you Matt & Issac-Andy

Im sure we can all agree that we were nervous and unsure about attending a Bootcamp before we got into it but my experience with Codify Academy was nothing short of amazing. I was still in the beginning stages of my C.S classes in college and always knew that I wanted to be a full-time dev but didnt know how to get started. C.A was able to provide me with the direction and support to help me understand what I couldnt on my own. The mentors were great - they created the perfect atmosphere for people who had never been exposed to code which made it easier for everyone to understand the content. Next to the curriculum, I feel the most valuable thing that they taught was the ability to learn something new and being able to apply it to something else. *This is a message to all of those who think negatively of C.A or who had a bad experience - You cant just show up 60% of the time, not do the work, or participate and expect that youll get a job at the end of it. If you REALLY want to to make something work and if you REALLY want that job then you should be willing to put in the work to understand the material. You cant say that this program doesnt work because MANY OTHERS and MYSELF included have LANDED DEV JOBS months after graduating the program. I will be honest and say that Ive thought about giving up so many times during the job hunt but I knew that that job was just right around the corner so that kept me going. I now work as a Lead Dev for the Ecommerce team of a retail company! I wouldnt have ever made it this far if it wasnt for the C.A mentors and Founders.

Codify Academy has been an amazing experience for me. A little about myself when I started the course I was 21 years old working dead end jobs that required little skill. I felt I was doomed to stay at these jobs until I complete my bachelors in business administration which will still take me 5 years from now. I was feeling the need to learn a new skill that will give me a high pay & find something that will challenge me instead of repetitiveness. My search ended when I ran into Codify.I came to the SF office where the course was going to be taught to meet the instructor & get a general sense of the course & concepts I would be learning. They asked me if Im up to the task & put in the time to learn what it takes to be a front end web developer. I said I was ready to grab the bull by the horns & do this!.They recommended me to read Head First: HTML & CSS, to get a general sense of what I was going to start learning. I grabbed the book & read it before the course because I believe if your going into a course for a short period to learn something you better give it your ALL. if not you will not receive the full benefits they have to offer. Make learning these concepts & the curriculum a priority if you want to move ahead if not youre just wasting your time. On top of that before signing up make sure coding is something you can see yourself doing. Check Khan Academy, Code Academy, & other free online courses to see if coding actually interests you & something you can see yourself doing. Now Im so glad I took the course & Im never looking back. Im going to graduate in a month & Im already apply to jobs, receiving interviews, & was offered a job as a mentor here. My eyes have been open to a new world that I would have never imagined being even remotely involved with in this field but now Im hooked. Trust me you GET what you GIVE & Im living proof including my classmates who speak of jobs they are working their way into here in SF. My classmates & I come from all kinds of different backgrounds, goals, & places in life. What brought us all together & made us into better selfs was this motivation to learn how to code & make something of ourselves. I highly suggest checking them out & just see what happens from there it might just surprise you.

I was in college for Business Administration when I started teaching myself frontend development. I was making progress with my self-learning but kept hitting roadblocks and didn’t have anyone to go to with questions. After reading about Codify Academy online and talking with Matt and Sam via phone calls and Skype, I knew it was what I had been looking for. I packed my bags, moved to San Francisco and haven’t looked back since. I am now a Web Designer/Frontend Developer at Vulcun, an eSports startup in the city. I look forward to going to work every morning because I get to do what I love and see real people use the things I design and build. I would not be where I am today without the ongoing support and guidance I got from Codify Academy.

Pros:- Codify is run by three brothers who started out as programmers themselves, so they have great hands-on experience.- Price-point for course is relatively inexpensive compared to other bootcamps- All textbooks are included in the price, as well as your first domain/hosting service for a year (where you will showcase your portfolio of sites/apps you build)- They hold weekday evening workshops every once in a while and will often provide a meal then, as well as snacks (fresh fruit) during regular weekly meetingsCons:- I would really like to give these guys a few more stars but I really cant . To start off, Codify is misleading and tells potential students that they are ready to be hired at the end of the 16 weeks. In reality, when applying for positions and talking to people actually working in the industry, theyre feedback has often been that there were quite a few things missing in terms of experience and projects to get hired at an entry-level position.- In a class of 10-12 students that graduated in June (6 months later), there is currently 1 person I know of who has gotten a developer job, post-course completion. Many more folks, from my group and others who have actually gone on to take on other types of jobs because they couldnt break into the developer field with their Codify training.- Codify instructors may know how to code but they DO NOT have a background in teaching or facilitation. There are often gaps in the progress of topics and in their priorities. E.g.: They spend about half of the course on HTML & CSS, a good amount of time on JavaScript and very little time on things like AngularJS or APIs, even though knowing and working with these in front-end development are essential for getting jobs in the field.- They sometimes teach different things to different classes, so you dont know if youre getting everything you need.- They often say please let me know if you have any questions but it will often take them a week or longer to answer emails/questions (and some go unanswered all together). I was sometimes ping-ponged back and forth between one instructor and another before someone actually answered a question, and at times when they did so, they could be rude and passive-aggressive about it, instead of being encouraging and helping me learn. Not cool.- When I signed up for the course, I opted to work with one of their suggested partners WeFinance (a startup that does crowd funding campaigns by having the campaign owner ask for loans that will be repaid on an agreed-upon schedule). When I initially got in contact with Codify Academy, I was told the course would last 12 weeks. I signed up with WeFinance and determined a pay-back schedule keeping this in mind, as well as how long they said a student usually takes to get a job (2-6 months). As it turns out, when I thought I was in my last week, the instructor informed me, laughing non-chalantly that there was actually another month left in the course. Of course, this wreaked havoc with my crowd-funding campaign. Did not receive any acknowledgment, apology or help with this, either.- Their job prep is a workshop where students go through a checklist for technical questions and then they mock-interview each other. They also give anecdotes of previous students who have been successful at presenting value to companies they want to work for. All things you can learn on your own, online. Conclusion: I absolutely learned some front end code while at Codify, but thats also because I have had the experience of teaching and facilitating; so I have a pretty good idea of how/where to fill in the gaps of their teaching style for myself. If you already have some experience with coding and/or you feel very confident about your ability to teach yourself when needed and find a job, youll be ok with Codify. However, for the majority of folks, especially those with no programming background, its well-worth it to spend a bit more and get a better education, elsewhere.
