Great place to learn to fly, very nice instructors, and they take good care of the plane maintenance, teaching as they go.

I had the fortune of having a fantastic commercial training instructor here as well as for CFI training. My DPE for the checkride had mentioned how much she respects WoC students, enjoying a higher pass rate than some of the pilot training mills in the area.Rental checkouts take longer than other clubs or flight schools, but this is offset by lower plane rates, probably partly due to their very good safety record. The instructor rates are going up, and it makes sense since they were too cheap for the supply/demand curve. Wish they had done it in tiers, but I think we as members just got away with cheap instructor rates for a little too long and its time to pay up.

My son, who would like to become a pilot, is taking ground school at Wings of Carolina. Classes are excellent, very well taught, organized, and quite affordable. Highly recommend for any aspiring pilot!

Cool club! Awesome staff! The planes need some updating but are in very good mechanical status. if you want to learn to fly this is where to do it on a budget with extremely professional staff.

The Wings of Carolina Flying Club is a magnificent place to learn flying. The runway is unnecessarily long and makes for comfortable training. The airspace is rarely too busy and the instructors are nice and accommodating. Aircraft rates are extremely low and the planes are always maintained and fully fueled. I would definitely recommend this club to pilots of any age or skill range. After reading the negative review below I am shocked that anyone would say something about the instructors there. Any time I needed help throughout my training someone was always there to help. I had no issue passing my checkride and I was still in high school during my training. Perhaps the negative review below is more of a reflection on the individual and not on the instructors nor airport.

I love this place. It is outstanding for someone who wants a low budget training. The aircraft are old, but beautifully maintained. I would suggest a person to come down to the club and learn about it. I wish I this place was closer so I could fly more!

Good place to learn. Rates are about the least expensive in the area, theres a wide variety of instructors in case one doesnt fit for you and youre with people who are into this for the fun of flying, not to run a business. Its what you make of it.

Great flying, great community! If you are wanting to learn to fly or already have your certificate, this is an awesome community. From the safety culture that is reinforced at all levels, the top notch maintenance, and club events, there is something for everyone. I too am surprised by the negative reviews in that they dont sound anything like the experience that I have had. Especially when answering questions for prospective members. We have a lot of volunteer members who spend time at the club and are always excited to talk to about the club. All of the instructors that I have flown with have been a wealth of information. I took my checkride at 63 hrs of flight time and was complemented by the DPE on my flying ability. Dont take my word for it, the club hosts a cookout and member gathering every second Saturday of the month. It is a fun time and great opportunity for non-members to see what it is all about. Enjoy some burgers, hotdogs and talk about airplanes!

It was horrible to do flight training there. It was totally a waste of time and money. I was lucky that I made through check ride, but many others got sixty hours and still hadnt get solo yet and left. First and foremost, most CFI there are incompetent and lack basic teaching skills. On a calm day, my thousand-hours CFI simply didnt make soft/short landings within PTS standard in several demos. They dont know how to teach students to understand flying. Most lessons, CFI looks like a DPE, i.e. criticize your problem but dont suggest you any effective ways to improve. When you ask questions, they simply direct you to hundreds of pages to read. When you wanted to try something good for flying habits development but irrelevant to check ride tasks, they not only show little interest, but use negative emotions to scare you. When I made further different aircraft transitions, I need more time to hone my skills and my new CFI still constantly teach me to correct some basic flying habits, on top of that, some of the problems I had initiate discussions with my previous CFI, and they simply say it does not matter. In short, never start your initial primary flight training there, they just wanna use your money to subsidize those experienced pilots.

Called and spoke to a club member at the office today. Had a few basic questions regarding membership and cost. I must say, the club representative that I spoke to was the biggest douche bag on the planet. Based on this conversation, I assume this club has a very high douche bag ratio.Basically, he told me there is a waiting list so I dont need to answer any of your questions.
