Wow! Just... Wow!TCA Sarasota drew us with its quality in education. I cant get enough of hearing my kindergartener sing the bones of the body or my second grader counting by 2s, 3s, 4s... all the way up to 12s by memory. (You wouldnt believe how that knowledge makes learning multiplication and division easy.)But what else weve found there astonished us: a principal who knows the name of every student, staff with bedrock character and teachers that go the extra mile. A school that partners with us in raising virtuous children with a solid understanding of how the world actually works. Not to mention: MY KIDS LOVE SCHOOL. My son was genuinely disappointed when spring break rolled around, and my daughter cannot wait for TCA to re-open in the fall. The Classical Academy of Sarasota is a gem among schools, and we highly recommend it.

The level of actual education is so good that any negative comments have to be jealousy or a narrow minded individual. They actually teach real unfiltered age appropriate history.

I cannot (peacefully) imagine my children attending another local school. TCA offers high-level academics in an environment that meets and often exceeds the moral and ethical standards that are important to me as a parent. Students treat one another with respect and look to teachers for support and guidance. Go Patriots!

I have three kids at TCA. I couldn’t be more at peace about having my children this school. This is a very unique learning environment where educators parter with kids to bring out their very best. If you want your kids to love learning and experience the beautiful dynamic of mutual respect between adults and children, come tour TCA. The people and their heart for quality education and families are irresistible. I’ve never seen it’s match. Anna

What a wonderful addition to Sarasota. In the world of chaos, excess and pop culture it is refreshing to have a place where your children can go back to basics. Teacher centered classrooms, history rich curriculum and no technology allow for young brains to develop critical thinking skills. In addition, the tuition is extremely affordable.

You feel the difference the moment you walk through the doors. What education is meant to be--inspiring, meaningful, connected, challenging and so much more. My son was lit up by learning again. Inspired by teachers who care, leadership that leads by example and an unwavering commitment to quality, and fellow students who truly care about one another. I am so grateful for the depth of the learning and care that happens all day every day at TCA. Truly a life changing education.

When I first heard of The Classical Academy it was still in the planning stages. I prayed that this type of school would be available for my children. My two children have been at TCA since their inaugural year, and we have been extremely happy. They are in a safe and caring environment with excellent academics, and they actually enjoy going to school. Cant beat that!

As a current TCA parent, and one with the character and honor to own my review, I highly recommend The Classical Academy. It is a place where the independent thinkers and leaders of tomorrow will be fostered. This process involves dedicated staff and a willingness by the student to learn problem solving skills, and the knowledge to implement comprehensive action.Admittedly it is not the place for everyone, but (thankfully) no such place exists. For a pursuit of excellence, and a caring environment there is no better option in Sarasota/Manatee.

TCA has been such a huge blessing to our family. TCA teaches the kids to strive for excellence and encourages them to become virtuous ladies and gentlemen. They do not teach to a test but teach a rich and rigorous curriculum that my children have thrived in. My kids love all of the sports that are offered as well and are excited that more and more HS and MS sports are being added! The leadership, teachers and community that is at TCA is the greatest reason why I truly love our school! There is a difference at TCA which isn’t easily replicated. We ❤️ TCA!

My son has attended this school for 8th and 9th grade. The standards at this school are excellent and I would highly recommend it. My son developed an understanding of leadership and virtues and strengthened his study and critical thinking skills while there. I can understand that the school may not be for everyone but if you want your child to reach their full potential this is the place for them. My son is 15 and when asked who he admires he will say his principal because of the example he leads with.

3 of my kids attend TCA. Our main focus as parents is a good education for our kids and TCA delivers with excellence. Their staff and curriculum are exceptional and challenges the kids at all levels. There is a reason why the school was accredited in only 2 years of existence AND there is a waiting list for all if not most grades.

My kids were falling behind in a charter school in the area and were disengaged. Common Core is awful! Friends of mine left the charter school with their 4 kids to attend The Classical Academy and told me how amazing it was and how happy they were there. My husband and I then toured TCA and loved their virtues, curriculum, and standard of excellence! The principal took time to answer all of our questions and was very helpful! We enrolled both kids that day! My daughter immediately came to life and our youngest learned songs that just blew us away with how much knowledge of History she learned! 3 years later they both love to read and learn! The literature they read is amazing and I love the fact that its a smaller school and the staff and teachers are so amazing and supportive! Best decision we ever made! Take a tour and talk to the principal, you wont be disappointed!

The experience in the lower schools is a on par experience with other public schools in the area, but the lack of technology in the class left my child far behind the other students in his new school. In the professional world, technology is a key component and is needed in almost everything in the work place. The upper school is a much different experience. The student count of each class is insanely small, making a proper high school experience impossible. The lack of clubs and high School sports is also a main factor to our departure from the school. The teachers and the principle are extremely biased to the girls, allowing them to do and say things the boys would not be allowed to do. The lack of high schoolers make it hard to expand your circle of friends. The absense of classes such as sex Ed, home ec, and drivers ed leave much to be desired, leaving the educating to the parents, which for 7,000 a year is unacceptable. In conclusion, if your elementary age student is not districted for a good enough school, then by all means TCA is a decent alternative but for middle and high school you are better off sending them to public.

Our children have attended school at The Classical Academy of Sarasota for the past 3 years. Our sons are now entering 3rd and 1st grade. We are continually impressed with not only the content of the curriculum, but also with the consistency with which it is taught from year to year. The classroom sizes are kept small which accommodates teachers to focus on the student as an individual. This was evident to us when our eldest son was in first grade. They quickly recognized that his math abilities were beyond first grade level and took the initiative to move him up to second grade math within the first few weeks of the school year. The focus at TCA is to encourage students to do everything with excellence. We believe the school exemplified that standard by becoming fully accredited this year, an impressive accomplishment for a school which is still in its infancy. Most importantly, we see proof of this standard of excellence in our children’s penmanship, amazing knowledge of history, math, science, literature, grammar, geography, art, and music. Another aspect is that our boys love going to school here. TCA has fostered a love of learning in them that we had never expected to see...all the more reason for our overwhelming pride in this amazing school. The founders of the school, Josh and Harmony Longnecker, are extremely passionate about classical education, and it is clearly evident in their everyday interactions with the students and parents. If you are looking for a school offering an exceptional education that will challenge your child in a caring, virtuous environment, call to make an appointment to speak with Mr. Longnecker, the principal of the school. Get in while you can…there is a waiting list, and with good reason.

My husband and I have been privileged to have 2 of our children taught by Josh Longenecker in the past and they both loved having him as a teacher and role model. He was an absolutely caring man who genuinely taught with methods not currently utilized by the public school system. A breath of fresh air! He has always demonstrated that the child was more important than the learning process. Josh and Harmony have done wonderful things in the community with the focus of classical education. I never heard of classical education until I met them. Having continued to educate myself on the classical model, I have fully embraced these methods. I would say the reason others have left, whether they be board members or parents of students, is they do not fully grasp the concepts of this method. To disagree with curriculum choices or style of teaching is definitely your prerogative, but to try to change them at TCA defeats the whole purpose of what this school is about. Clearly, you can choose another method elsewhere. It is hard for us to believe how anyone can attack and defame the Longeneckers or TCA.

Amazing education, community & families! I intend to have my children here until they graduate. I know my children will make a difference in their community, their environment and ultimatley the world, because of the solid foundation thats being developed within them. As a past TCA preschool teacher, I can genuinely say that the heart of TCA is lead with true integrity and love by all Staff; especially the Principal and his entire family. We love and support TCA!

I have enrolled my children at The Classical Academy since its inaugural year and couldnt be happier. I have a son going into 8th grade and another entering 3rd. We explored all of our options when we decided to move from a public school to a private school and TCA was the best fit for our family, all around. The level of education is unparalleled, the teachers are committed and the Longneckers are visionaries and true community leaders. The schools mission is to keep the tuition reasonably priced, so that any parent that wants a Classical education for their child can afford it. I can personally attest to the level of growth in maturity, learning skill, patriotism and sense of community that I have seen in my children in the last 2 years and look forward to the upcoming year!

I am a TCA student who will be going into 8th grade this year and I have had an amazing past two years here. TCA trains students to be able to think for themselves and become more virtuous people. I have learned so much and love everything about the teachers and curriculum. The principal and staff are always there to help anyone and their greatest concern is the well-being of the students and they all do SO much. Mr. L is always helping injured students and cleaning the school, and Mrs. Harmony is one of the most kind, joyful people and a wonderful kindergarten teacher. Yes, it is a school in which self-discipline and hard work is crucial but this only helps shape the students into better and more rounded people. I cant thank the principal and teachers enough for everything they do. I have never regretted coming to TCA!

Our daughter has attended high school at TCA for two years now and we truly believe she couldnt have a better education anywhere else. The courses taught are exceptional (like Latin and music theory as well as their basic classes), and they are held with a standard of excellence. The teachers are truly committed and have such passion for what they teach, bringing kids to a higher level of learning through research and assignments. It is true that they do not allow electronics in the classrooms like phones, computers, etc.., but that has been a huge advantage for my daughter as she has had to learn to rely on her own study skills to get the answers, not getting fast answers by way of internet. We are amazed at the level of education shes received in two years! The safety of the kids is paramount at TCA, calling each child by name (via walkie talkies) as their parents arrive to pick them up (thats impressive considering there are over 200 kids enrolled). The principal has always been very open to us and ready to meet if we ever asked. Were excited for this new school year to start at TCA and would highly recommend it for any child!

I have been involved with TCA since its beginning. I have no financial or any self-serving interest in TCA; I value quality education as it represents the future of our country. Had it been around when our kids were in school, they would have been enrolled there, no question. I am a firm believer in classic education, the kind of education that I was fortunate enough to have, and not what is being taught for the most part today in the public school system.I have had many opportunities to engage with students currently enrolled in TCA, and I have been very impressed with both their educational achievements and character development. I attribute these stellar results directly to the methods utilized and the quality and dedication of the TCA educators. There is a waiting list to TCA admission, tuition is very reasonable, and there are scholarship opportunities. If your family is interested in classic education, there is no better option in Sarasota. We are fortunate to have such a resource in our community.

We first heard about TCA from good friends. We truly saw the curriculum in action in their daughter who beautifully recited part of the history timeline. We were immediately drawn to the richness of the curriculum deeply rooted in literature and history. We initially planned to start our son at TCA for Kindergarten, but quickly decided he needed to be placed there as soon as possible. It was the best decision we have made. My son has excelled at TCA right from the beginning. He started reading at 5 and quickly became fluent at 6 years old. His math skills are at the 1st grade level. His knowledge in history, geography and biology is superior to many peers in public schools. His ability to utilize critical thinking far more exceeds our expectations at his young age. His beautiful handwriting is a result of the fact that TCA does not have technology at its fingertips. The discipline method utilized by the school allows for quick behavior modification in a young student and empowers the student to develop a strong character. Our son is continuously learning about self-control and Miss Harmony was instrumental in helping us get him to the next level. Our family strives to live by the TCA Habits that have been set forth. They are displayed on our refrigerator so we can be reminded what we as a family are aspiring to be. These are ideals that the Longnecker family lives by and demonstrates on a regular basis. TCA curriculum is exceptional, but also rigorous and it is definitely not suitable for every young mind. To the parents who have left, I feel empathy and sadness for the fact that this model didn’t fit the needs of your children. For the parents who left ungracefully and slandered TCA on social media and this very website, you need to look within yourselves and at the dynamic of your own family for the real reasons you are no longer part of the TCA school.
