I have been training for nearly a decade and Praxis is one of the best run programs I have had the pleasure of training in. Prof Larry is fantastic in how he teaches and his set up for running all his classes. Even his new students are very competent and kind. He really teaches you how to grow on and off the mats. Definitely come here.

Dropping in to new gyms is one of my favorite travel activities. Ive been training for a little over 7 years and this has been my best experience so far. Sincerely accommodating, very welcoming, jovial atmosphere with challenging training. Large student body, but not over-crowded. Checks all the boxes for me. This will definitely be my Seattle go-to spot.

This is a really really good school. People were super friendly and the instruction was very organized. They seem very careful with the beginners and work to make their experience a positive one. Lots of high level technique in the intermediate and advanced classes. Great place to train!

As a disclaimer, Ive trained here since 2015.I think what makes Praxis unique is that you are free to do Jiu jitsu how you like. If you just want some exercise, nobody will pressure you in to rolling hard or competing. If you want to compete, you will be pushed by all the high- level Jiu jitsu, including by professors Larry and Marty who roll frequently.

Praxis was an awesome place to train all around- welcoming, challenging, and detail-oriented. Larry was nice enough to tailor the classes to what I was working on, and I learned some great new moves and adjustments to my game. I cant recommend this gym highly enough to BJJ practitioners of all levels.

As others have said, just an all-around great place to train. I was in town for a couple of days for work and Professor Larry, Nick and the team welcomed me right in. Loved that it is an all BJJ school - they’re very technical, focused on safety and the culture is top-notch. Go train at Praxis!

About a year ago I started my search for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school in Seattle to help get in better shape. There were many places that I had to choose from but after reading what Praxis mission and take on Jiu Jitsu was I knew I had to at least give it a try.I showed up for the free class that Larry offers to everyone and had a blast. Before I knew it I was attending class 3-4 times a week and loving every second of it.Larry is a great teacher and is always patient with you. I am almost certain that if Larry wasnt as chill as he is I wouldnt enjoy it as much as I do.In the short year I have been going to Praxis I have learned a ton going to class regularly and practicing. I am glad that I went in to Praxis and cannot stress enough how awesome the class is.Even if you arent that into Jiu Jitsu and just want a workout this is a great place for that and I highly recommend it.

Ive been a student here for about 6 months and its been great. Larry is a fantastic instructor who really puts emphasis on understanding how to string together moves. Every couple of weeks, he focuses in on a specific area, giving plenty of time to practice and master one specific technique. Over the months, Ive started to see the different techniques connect and it has increased my appreciation for the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The people here are all very friendly and Larry ensures people of all levels can participate and gain something from class.

I had the tremendous luck of training under Professor Larry King when he was the general manager of Easton Brazilian jujitsu in Denver. Professor King is a tremendous jujitsu instructor. His knowledge of Brazilian jujitsu and of martial arts generally is impressive. Larry has an intuitive teaching style that brings out the best in the students and makes almost any experience an opportunity for learning. Seattle is lucky to have this amazing black belt.

Ive been training under Professor Larry for about 8 months. I love how the lessons are structured, how much effort is put into avoiding injuries (warmups, warnings, advice), and the tempo of instruction. Initially I wanted to try out BJJ for 3 months or so, but now Im hooked for good.

Praxis has great people and a great culture. If you’re a little nervous about starting BJJ (like I was), Larry and the other instructors are awesome at easing you in and teaching the basics before you’re ready to step up into full competition. And if you’re looking for competition this place has some straight-up killers too.So, if you’re interested in beginning BJJ or continuing your practice here in the new year, definitely give Praxis a try.

This place is awesome. I bought a Groupon for one month of the basic program and was hooked immediately. Larry is an amazing instructor, taking the time to break down key points of the techniques and setting things up into games you can play with your partner to drill and apply them in a live way. Hes great about keeping things safe, controlled, fun and productive for everybody. More experienced students are super helpful and invest in you getting better. The overall vibe of the place is very chill, respectful, and fun. Highly recommend training here, great place to make your BJJ home.

Ive been at Praxis for a couple months now after starting at a smaller club where I first began training BJJ. This is a great school in so many ways but ill try to bullet point it real quick....* Great Black Belt instruction from Larry King who will teach you very specific techniques while sharing with you the larger concepts of Jiu Jitsu for self defense* Large variety of class types for a flexible schedule...Noon and night classes every weekday, Saturday class, etc...so theres no/less excuse to not get to class* Nice people at the gym that are there to help you improve and are genuinely friendly* Organized and well structured classes where you learn drills that make Jiu Jitsu feel like a video game, playing defense and offense with your partner and focusing on specific areas every weekI love this school. Come hang out with us at Praxis!

While in Seattle for business, I had the opportunity to swing by Praxis BJJ for the intermediate level class after a long day in the office. Needless to say, I had an incredible time: Larry King is a great teacher who identified key aspects of techniques that I didn’t even think about upon initial learning while ensuring that every person in class was up to speed with the sequence of the day. When it came to sparring, I had the pleasure of training against some really tough folks who kept me honest with their skill and technique. I can say with 100% confidence that training at Praxis BJJ was the highlight of my work trip and I cannot wait to visit again. I highly recommend for newcomers to jiu jitsu or visitors in the Seattle area to pay a visit to this welcoming and skilled gym!

The students were all friendly and ideal partners of all skill level, including high level competitors.Great bjj school!! Will definitely consider this my bjj home in Seattle.

I just moved to Seattle, been training BJJ for four years under Prof Jack McVicker in IL/IN. I was nervous about being able to find a new school (on top of changing jobs, moving 2000 miles, etc...) that would be a good fit for me.Im very pleased to say that Prof King was super friendly and helpful through the whole process, and I just dropped in for the first time, and it seems like a really great school in my opinion. The atmosphere is skilled and friendly, and the purple and brown belts gave me a very gentle butt kicking, which tells me that the vibe is healthy. This was an all levels class with everyone from male/female white belts to brown belts + the professor. The floor is sprung like a gymnastics/tumbling floor, so that is *awesome* because it makes doing judo and some takedowns *much* less hard on the body.I signed up after the first class (which was two classes back to back, so about 2 hours of straight training) and I am also glad to say that there are no aggressive sales pitches or contracts here, just a very straightforward it costs X to train here approach which I really appreciate. Nonsense like you have to buy our gi doesnt really sit well with me, so I am also glad to say that the Gi policy here is as long as its clean, you can train in it. As a gi nerd, I appreciate that. This is a great spot if you are downtown Seattle and want to train, and I am confident when I say that its a skilled and healthy atmosphere that is 100% jiu jitsu focused.

This place is excellent for beginners and advanced practitioners.I hold a blue belt in bjj and was looking for a place to train after moving to Seattle for work. This place opened up right next to my place so I though I would check it out. The instructor Larry is super knowledgeable about jiu-jistu and a very nice guy. He teaches me the little details I forgot and some badass new details to tighten up my guard. He has constructed an awesome gym with great mats. I highly recommend this place if you want to get in shape and learn an super fun sport in the process.
