Now that was funWhat a great gym! George and ALL of the assistant instructors are beyond exceptional! Everyone was super friendly, welcoming, and willing to share so much with this newbie. I had an amazing time for the 4months I was here in Seattle at Summit! I would highly recommend this gym to anyone that rolls or who is curious about BJJ. So many great people and such a diverse mixture of styles and personalities make this gym what it is.

Its a non-profit gym and its awesome?!Yes, its true this is the best BJJ gym Ive ever trained at and Ive trained at a half dozen gyms across two states and two countries. They have great instructors and a very chill, welcoming atmosphere. If youre interested in competing they have that too :)

I shopped around for different BJJ gyms 4 years ago and Summit won me over immediately after my first class. To see how far they have come in that time as a volunteer organization is proof positive that the club leadership team has created something special. The instructors are very knowledgeable and eager to teach people of all levels. I would highly recommend checking them out.

Trained here while in town for work in January and excited to go back. Friendly people of all skill level happy to roll, always under control and safely. An unpretentious attitude among both professors and students that comes only from gyms confident in the quality of their jiu jitsu. It was my privilege to roll with the killers at this great school.

They offer a solid curriculum for all skill levels, with plenty of sparring opportunities. The mat culture is really laid-back, learning-based (versus an in-house competition vibe) and very open to newcomers. Im extremely happy with my experience at Summit and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone interested in starting or continuing their BJJ training.

Ive been on a journey across the states training wherever I can and this is one of the best gyms Ive been to. The instructors are super friendly and knowledgable and are very clear in there instructions. The students are really friendly to. They teach every thing from gi and no-gi jiu jitsu, as well as submission wrestling with judo and wrestling take downs. If your ever in Seattle, and want a great place to train, train hear!

I started my first foray into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu pretty much the day after I turned thirty years old. I had no previous experience with any grappling-based martial art, yet wanted to try something new at the start of my new decade. Since Summit was located only a few blocks from my apartment, I decided to give it a try and I’ve been hooked ever since. Have no fear if this is your first time, the instructors and other team members are super supportive of new students, never hesitating to answer questions, and are committed to students’ learning and wellbeing.I think there’s a misconception that BJJ has a kill-or-be-killed mentality with regard to training and sparring, especially among new students. And although Summit allows brand new students to roll from the get-go, there is no pressure placed upon students to do so. In fact, students are introduced to sparring situations through games, positional sparring, and controlled rolls. The beginners’ classes have a great, no-nonsense curriculum scheduled, which is also attended by more advanced students. Furthermore, the advanced (two-stripe white belt and above) and no-gi classes are faster paced, more technical, and introduce students to high-level concepts and techniques. On the other hand, the noonday core classes focus on judo and wrestling take-downs and positional drills. There’s pretty much a class every day for those looking to train. Finally, my overall impression of the school’s culture is this: laid-back, family oriented, friendly, and the instructors teach because they love the art.Although Summit has switched locations since I first began, the new school on Bellevue and Bellevue is amazing. Since moving from 21st avenue, the school has more than doubled the available classes, added new resources to their facilities, and have remained true to their mission of providing very, very affordable, superb quality Jiu-Jitsu. 5-million stars.
