Cannot say enough positive things about our experience at Winchester Jiu Jitsu! My family and I have had the opportunity to work with and train under their excellent coaches and staff for about 4 years now. From the moment you walk in the door, youre greeted with professional and friendly faces that welcome you with very positive energy. As an older female, it can be intimidating to walk into a gym/sport that is male dominated, but I have always felt safe and supported by all the coaches at this gym. Its great to see more females joining the gym, which is testament to the safe and welcoming environment here.I would highly recommend this gym to anyone that is interested in training jiu jitsu, or curious and want to try something new. They have an amazing kids program as well! Its never too late to challenge yourself and try something new!

A great place for kids. Coach Tom and Coach Steve are a great balance of one another. They each have an amazing amount of patience & they know how to work with/through some challenging classes. These guys did not give up on some very hard and strenuous classes within our first year. They encouraged me to trust them, to let them work and do what they do, and today, I couldn’t ask for a better set of coaches for my kids. They are clear in their expectations and offer endless support and guidance every step of the way. They keep things moving, rotating the fun and games with the training- and keeping the kids wanting to come back. All the coaches are great! Always approachable and willing to listen and answer questions. Coaches Bob, Angela, Patricio, Jeff and Megan -my kids love working with you all. Thank you for patting them on the back or giving them that pep talk- pushing them to work harder! I’ll finish off by saying, Amanda keeps everyone straight, has all the information, or if not, she will find it! Highly recommend this place!!

My wife and I signed up about three months ago, and it has been a positive experience the whole way. The staff and instructors are second to none. Very friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. The members are also a great group of people. Everyones very helpful, and encouraging. Its a nice, laid back atmosphere.Give it a shot!

The single best BJJ academy Ive ever been to, and Ive been to many over the years. You simply cant get better instruction anywhere remotely close to WJJ.

Winchester Jiu Jitsu has a great children’s program that starts at age 3 and can accommodate any skill level. As far as the adult programs an entry level fundamentals class will help you start your journey while intermediate and advance classes will keep every belt level challenged. Great programs, instructors, and members makes this the only gym in the Valley to train.

Been there a little over a year and can’t think of anything bad about this place. Everyone at the gym is willing to help explain and teach all aspects of Jiu Jitsu. It’s more of a family atmosphere than most places, and the instruction is top notch. Wish I started years ago...

My son absolutely LOVES it!! The staff are super friendly and patient, and give each child the attention and help they need. My son is always ready to go to class and would go more often if he could! Hours are great for the working parent!

I entered The Winchest Jiu Jitsu Academy one Saturday, not really knowing what I should expect. The students and instructors were so welcoming and inviting. I intended to just watch a class, but I was encouraged to join in. Before I knew it, I was dressed and on the mat.There is a real positive culture at this gym. Everyone is patient, kind, respectful, and eager to learn from the amazing coaches.

Throughout my life I have had a passion for Martial Arts, from taking Karate for eight years to five years in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program I had a desire to learn more. The Winchester Jiu Jitsu Academy has allowed me to continue better myself in nearly every way.The camaraderie within the Academy is something that I havent seen since my time in the Marine Corps. Every person I have interacted with in the academy has been extremely friendly and willing to help improve each other. Ive been to six different BJJ gyms during my nearly-three-year journey, all because of various work and geographical circumstances, and this one is easily the best. The instructors, Jeff, Bob, and Nate, are top tier, and when Tony Passos himself, or another of his black belts, Josh, shows up, youre in for a real treat.Extremely knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and the team here is full of talent and good will. Easily recommended for anyone interested in any of the training they provide.

I love Winchester BJJ! The instructors are incredible, and very welcoming. Im always apprehensive walking into a new gym (damn you, introversion!), but this place has a family atmosphere and I always felt right at home. I learned a ton, and met great friends. Absolutely recommend.

I started my daughter here back in Sept 2019. She really enjoys the MMA and Jiu Jitsu classes. The coaches are patient and work extremely well with the little kiddos! I look forward to joining her this year!

A world class facility with world class instructors. I had the privilege to train at this academy while in Virginia for training and from the first day I felt like a 5 year member. The instructors were incredibly friendly and approachable and there were no mat egos to deal with. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend this as your training center or as a guest visitor like I was. And if you have a couple extra dollars, I would recommend the private lessons. I had recently moved to the area, and had just started BJJ a few months before that. Winchester Jiu Jitsu has INCREDIBLE facilities and staff. From my very first class there I felt welcome, safe and challenged in the best way. If youre traveling through or visiting, definitely check them out!

Great gym to train at. The instruction is excellent, the instructors are very patient and welcoming. The gym is kept very clean and has plenty of mat space.

Lucas and Jaxon have been in the Kids MMA class 2x per week since November 2017. They love coach Tom and Steve and look forward to learning new things every class. The coaches are patient and attentive and we couldn’t ask for a better gym to have our boys learn such a valuable and far reaching skill.

This school has a terrific program for kids that offers so much to deveopling and learning jiu jitsu techniques, the physical exercise, building character and doing it so they have fun all at the same time. The instructors do a great job with the boys and girls as a group and you see they try and spend one on one time with each of them as well. My son has been taking classes for several months now and enjoys it.

After doing Combatives in the Army, I decided that I wanted to get into BJJ when I got out but had a bad experience with a bad school. I moved to Winchester and found this school and decided to give BJJ another go and have been very impressed and satisfied with The Winchester Jiu-Jitsu Academy. This is great BJJ gym. The coaches are knowledgeable and friendly. Teh facilities are among some of the best I have seen for a BJJ gym as well.

Winchester Jiu Jitsu Academy is affiliated through Tony Passos and Atos Jiu Jitsu. If youve watched any high level BJJ tournament matches, these teams dominate. Coach Bob and Jeff run a terrific tu/th morning class.

Jiu Jitsu changed my life. When I started jiu jitsu while living in Georgia, I was 240 lbs and totally apathetic about changing my diet or having any fitness goals. I found a gym near my home and began attending classes. Shortly after moving to the area here I began visiting various jiu jitsu gyms. I can say without question that the Winchester Jiu Jitsu Academy is by far the best. The facilities are amazing, the coaches are fantastic, and the camaraderie is awesome. In the year and a half Ive been at WJJA Ive lost 60 lbs, but Ive gained many friends and have a totally different outlook on life.I wholeheartedly endorse Winchester Jiu Jitsu and would highly encourage anyone who is looking to change or start their fitness routine to come on by.

So I resigned for another year at Winchester Ju-Jitsu because I really enjoyed everything about the experience. Not so much my 2nd time around. My first year I focused only on BJJ training. My 2nd year I signed up for BJJ and Muay Tai training. Beginning in August I attended 2 BJJ classes and 2 Muay Tai classes per week, both on Tuesday and Thursday at $149.00 a month.In November they announced they would be ending the Muay Tai program in January. Then the very next week they decided nope, not January, end of November instead.I was hoping, since half the classes I signed up for were now being cancelled, they would be amenable in regards to letting me out of my contract.Nope. They held me to the letter of the contract. Classes may be cancelled due to special circumstances. Also, by cancelling my contract, I would be liable for 1 month plus 1/3 of the remaining contract balance which is $348.00.Alternatively, I could continue my training at a lower rate and do just BJJ. As I plan to continue my Muay Tai training, which requires me to attend another gym, 4 nights a week at 2 different places was not a convenience I could afford.Very disappointed that I have to write this review because I did enjoy over a year training with these guys. I did sign a contract and I will honor the terms of said contract.It still was a great experience. I met alot of great people. It is a very bitter sweet end of my journey with Winchester. Read your contract fully.
