This is a “spouse review” unlike parent experience that is normally shared in this space. I am the husband of Ms.(Dr.) Sugantha who is the Center Director and primary teacher at this Kumon center. I do not personally know any of the students enrolled here but I get to hear wonderful stories about them every evening from minor mischiefs that happen in Kumon class room to major success stories like getting accepted into accelerated/TAG programs in their respective schools. There are several exciting experiences including students making significant progress in same school semester/year, students calling us with a Kumon questions even when they were vacationing outside the country, receiving gifts (chocolate chip cookies!) from students for getting into accelerated programs in school, a few parents impressed by Kumon curriculum enrolling themselves in Reading program (we had one Grandma too!), winning Kumon summer photo contest (one of 10 winners in 5000+entries), the list goes on…Sugantha says there are 33 students studying above their grade level (May 2020 - 20 in Math and 13 in Reading) – 5 of them are doing 3 levels above grade. While she is very pleased with their growth, she notes this is a fruit of several months/years of hard work from students, parents and Kumon teachers that made these students excel in their respective levels. Sugantha takes most pride in progress made by remedial students. Her unshakable belief to turn things around from any situation has always amazed me and that shows in the progress made by these students at several levels. I know of several students that are coming from very far distances to do Kumon with her. She considers her responsibility to groom these young minds seriously.Sugantha also offers paid work experience (teaching assistants) to local students from Centennial/Alpharetta/ JohnsCreek/Peachtree high schools as well as UGA/GaTech. In most cases, this happens to be the first job for most of them and I hear stories about these bright young girls/boys excited to open a first bank account and getting paid for the first time. Some other public services for the Holcomb Bridge community includes sponsoring PTO groups of local schools, participating/encouraging in their STEM activities etc.I would recommend parents to get Ms. Sugantha in your team. She gives a good fight to help young ones reach their potential.Sugantha - Kids and I are very proud of your hard work and service to families in the Holcomb Bridge area! We are cheering for you! Keep going!

I have been extremely pleased with my experience at Kumon. The staff and educators are experienced, supportive, and nurturing. What has been most impressive is the level of detail and goal oriented approach to establishing an achievement plan for your child. I can clearly see the academic advantage it offers our daughter!

My daughter started kumon at this location 6 months ago. She had a little bit of fear of reading and learning, Miss sugantha is a great teacher and really cares about her students. My daughter came in kindergarten summer and wasn’t able to read 3 letter words and is now reading books that are above her grade level, and this is all without me having to fight her to do her homework. She actually enjoys doing homework.

My daughter has benefited significantly from the Kumon curriculum and Mrs. Suganthas gentle but strict leadership. My daughter is automatically counting in her head all the time without thinking much and with less of a struggle. The time constraints set are also helping her learn focus and discipline. Most of all, her grades in school are soaring and we spend less time torturing ourselves over homework.

My son started Kumon in February at the Holcomb Bridge location and fell in love with the teaching style. My son, who is four years old, has grown so much in these few months. The center director and tutors are simply the best. My son was attending a local preschool, but due to his advanced learning as a result of Kumon, my husband and I decided to remove him from the private preschool and decided to homeschool him instead since the preschool was no longer challenging him. For example, the preschool taught up to the number 20....our son is currently (as of the time of this post) counting and recognizes up to 100. When we spoke to Ms. Sugantha (center director) about this, she took the time to meet with me to develop a curriculum and timeline for my son over the next year. Since Georgia Pre-K is voluntary, my husband and I decided that we could teach him at home using the Kumon method (tutoring twice per week and workbooks/homework the other five days) to advance him along. When speaking to the teacher over the gifted program at the school our son is zoned for, she mentioned that he would most probably test into the talented and gifted program at the kindergarten level and may even be skipped to first grade. We also have an 18-month old son who is interested in learning as well. He carries his big brothers Kumon pouch around and when it is homework time, he eagerly sits next to him to do his homework as well. The learning and growth is contagious! Because Kumon teaches children to earn rewards, our son is learning the concept of working hard and earning things in life; something we began incorporating at home so that what he is taught at Kumon is reinforced. If you are consider Kumon, we are strong supporters of the teaching style and methodology. We recommend the Kumon on Holcomb Bridge, as this center has the best director and tutors hands down!
