I love Subhadhra auntie! She is such a great dance teacher. As someone who came from a different dance teacher, auntie has great patience and love for dance! I definitely recommend this school to everyone 😊

We have been part of Bharatakala Natya Academy since it conception. This school has offered my child not only a high quality learning environment but also a place where she learned the value of giving back to the community. I highly recommend this school to anyone who want to explore the art of Bharatanatyam especially from a performance perspective.

There are group of people who manage Bharathakala PR , website, business accounts and they the put good reviews to combat any genuine comments.Responses are entered by the PR group. The response is not from owner but one of Akkas agony aunt.If you are a sycophant to akka, obviously your kid will be a apple of the eye and akka can be the the second ,third or fourth mother. Duh!

My daughter has been learning bharathanatyam from Mrs. Subathra (Subha Akka) for almost 10 years now. Subha Akka is not just a dance Guru but is a second mother for my child. She treats all of her students as if they are her own children. She strives to teach her students, not only dance but also life skills, to be better in the world and to make a difference. She encourages them to be better citizens and help others by giving through dance. Bharathakala is not just a dance school, it’s a family!

About seven years ago I was looking around for Bharatanatyam gurus who wouldnt mind taking in adult male students. Subha Akka did not look at age, gender or the physical structure, she just looked for the pure passion for dance in me honestly. She started a full on adults class to accommodate working adults who are interested in learning Bharatanatyam. Since then the journey has been excellent. As one of them had mentioned, it is not mere dance we learn here, but a wholesome curriculum of basic human values and also the most important of all Giving Through Dance. I have seen her spend a lot of time working with her students and also encouraging them to attain that perfection. The various productions (within the country and globally) of the school stands as a witness for this. Most of the productions take the traditional Bharatanatyam styles and is presented to western themes. Creativity and being open to new concepts have always been her keen strengths.Bharatanatyam or any art form for that matter, is not just about learning the form but it encompasses the basic discipline that one has to follow. The Guru-Sishya (Teacher/Student) parampara enforces this on us. Subha Akka leads this by example. She teaches us as to how a traditional art form should be taught. She leads this by example. Akka spends a lot of time correcting our forms and also ensures that we enjoy what we are doing and not dancing for the sake of a resume filler. On a personal level, I have a learnt a lot more from Subha Akka about the passion for dance, the discipline that comes along with it. This has definitely made me a better dancer and a better person. Thanks to Bharathakala!!

Any classical art form needs and demands mastery of the foundation. Be it music, ballet, Kathak or bharatanatyam.. Subha Akka recognizes and instills this in every child she teaches. I have seen the difference in children who have come to her from other dance schools in and out of Atlanta. Someone here mentioned something about $ per hour.. but what they dont see is the outcome of the dance form their child is learning. Taking online classes during the pandemic is not easy and add to that managing schedules of multiple children.. even in these challenging times, she has successfully taken all the classes.. Her children stand out as dancers who have mastered this art form. Her senior students are a delight to watch and her emerging students display so much potential. Apart from dance she also teaches children to give through dance. I am extremely grateful to find a teacher like Shubha Akka for my daughters.

The teacher is quite aggressive and the tone particulary can be very intimidating for kids particularly during online classes. My inlaws have also observed this and pointedNo art imparting business. Infact very rarely we come across true gurus who are purely about art and dance. These days it is about money and survival.. per hour $$$ thats all matters.
