I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and I absolutely LOVE them. Sue is the kindest, most wonderful human, and her students are amazing at what they do thanks to her. If you’re on a budget you can have the students do your hair, Blake just did mine and it’s like freaking silk, no joke. Or spend a little more and have Sue do it, either way you can’t go wrong! Highly recommend.

Hello,My name is Lisa Jean and I’m very excited to share why Metro Oasis was such an amazing choice for my aesthetic career. I wanted to take a moment to write a review in regards to my experience attending school at METRO OASIS so you can have a good idea of what to expect.First I would like to share that I have been in the beauty industry since I was about six years old. Growing up in salons and spas was something that felt very natural to me. So I have seen a lot over my time in this industry.Before attending METRO OASIS I took some time to do extensive research to find the perfect school. I just got lucky that it was in my own back yard!I did find some schools out of state that offered some options but not exactly everything that I was looking for. METRO OASIS had EVERYTHING I was hoping for and more! The difference of being a level one aesthetician or level two is very different! This was very important to me because I knew I would have to require a level two Esthetic to accomplish my career goals and a much broader education giving me the knowledge and tools needed to immediately pursue my career no matter the direction I wanted to take with aesthetics. METRO OASIS DEFINITELY ALLOWED ME TO DO THIS!If you’re wanting to become an aesthetician I feel that METRO OASIS is a wonderful choice. It will give you not only the knowledge you will need but the confidence that you will want when starting in this industry. If you are the type of person that does not apply yourself well.... this may be a little difficult for you. The BEST ADVICE that I can give you is, You will only get out of it what you put into it! Sue and Sigel are full of amazing knowledge. If there’s something you want to learn or know they will teach you. They both make an incredible team and have a very special way of teaching. The amount of knowledge they have is absolutely amazing. I could honestly listen to them for days. Of course this is a very hands-on program. So again....it is very critical that you take a lot of notes focus and apply yourself every day. If you are the type of individual that does not engage strongly you may struggle in this program. As your board exam is no walk in the park. But if you listen to Sue and Sigels advice and you retain the knowledge and information they are giving you then you will definitely succeed.The school is definitely a lot of fun. The environment is uplifting and eclectic. A million times better than sitting in a large white room with a book and screen all day! Uggg no thanks!I always felt welcome and felt that if I ever had questions or needed help with anything Sue and Sigel were very eager to help. I know my mom has been happily going here for years, and when I visit from out of state I’ve been going to get a trim or my hair colored. I’ve been really happy with the color especially. Everyone I’ve met has been really nice and professional. The owners seem to love what they do. The shop is full of beautiful and interesting things to look at. My daughter has gotten a couple trims there as a little one and they have her braids a couple times. They did really well with her also. Highly recommend.

I definitely had a better experience here than any other salon in Anchorage, Alaska. The instructors are very well educated and precise. They know how to dye my hair without bleaching which it did way better than at trendsetters which they’ve used bleach and didn’t give the lift of a lighter brown I’ve always wanted. They also did a fantastic job on the highlights as well, it’s not brassy. I prefer going to this salon as far as the price goes and the quality of the students work. Sophie or Sophia was great! And She always checked in with Sue to make sure she did it right before going any further and my hair color and haircut. Which was very sweet of her. They also told me about toning my hair, leave in conditioner, hair mask, and blue shampoo for my new brilliant brunette hair, giving me lots of options and offering me a great advice. And I will from now on, go to this place, and it’s a good 10 min walk to here. I got my cardio and my hair down, and I couldn’t be happier than that. I also left a tip for them too. :)

I haven’t been to a salon in about 6 years just because every time I got my hair done I would end up at home crying because the color was wrong or the hair cut was horrendous. I went into Metroasis yesterday for a hair cut and met Heidi (hopefully I’m spelling that right). From the beginning there was excellent communication and she kept checking in to make sure she was taking just the right amount off. I got layers done for the first time and she did AMAZING. I’ve never left a place so happy and satisfied. Please go to Metroasis and if you can, go to Heidi, she’s great!

They students here have always done such a great job on my hair and face. I was skeptical at first but they are great at what they do and most seem to have a passion for hair. I also love the products they sell at this place, they are made specifically for this business and have minimal ingredients in them. Love this place!

It is like a family here. Everyone is very nice and I just love Sue. She works so well teaching her students. I have never had a bad haircut or highlight here. I like the fact we always do something a little different each time I get highlights. I have been having my hair done here for over 20 yrs.

I graduated from MetrOasis in Jan. 2016 and I am a licensed hairdresser now. Going to school at MetrOasis was like working in a real salon with wonderful clients and classmates. Sue and Sigel are such knowledgeable instructors to learn about all aspects of the industry from. They would drop anything to help and support their students who they take only one or two per month. Two instructors for just several students! I was also surprised to receive such high quality student kit that I could use as a professional. The school was full time and required a lot of commitment, but I graduated with confidence and it was totally worth it.

I am absolutely blown away at the quality of haircuts that I recieve at MetrOasis. They give an amazing haircut and they treat you like you are a part of there family there. I look forward to walking through there doors every time. I love the style and class and care that is MetrOasis. Thank you.

I just finished the 12 Hour Nail class from Metro Oasis. It was great Sue is very caring and is more than willing to help whenever needed! She even helped me get all my paperwork in order to turn it in for my manicurist license. I was there for a class but Ill be going in for haircuts for sure, the people I saw coming and going while there looked great when they left.

The commitment of the students and the owner/educator/stylists toward making sure that my hair looks its very best is fantastic. I have a lot of unruly, frizzy hair that I like to wear smooth and straight. Its a big job and they put a lot of thought and effort into making sure Im happy.

This is the best beauty school in Anchorage! Best because the instructors are Amazing people, who genuinely care about each and every student, and are committed to teaching the best techniques.When you walk in, you first notice the kindness and happy spirit of Sue. ❤As a graduate, I am forever grateful for the advanced techniques that I was taught. Sigel has SO much valuable information about hair and skin. Sue is a super woman that exudes loveliness.My year of school with these wonderful people has been one of the most awesome experiences of my life. When you meet such goodness in people, its hard to leave, even when you complete your course.I would highly recommend Metroasis for all of your hair and skin services. What a great place to go. You have to remember that it is a school and the people working on you are learning. I had a very small problem but after talking to Sue it was all taken care of. The three girls I have had work on me were GREAT!

I graduated from MetrOasis in 2001 and I have to say that Sue and Sigel give an excellent foundation for a career in the beauty industry! I have yet to take a continued education or advanced training class that teaches me something that MetrOasis didnt teach me first.I am proud to be a graduate of their amazing program, and if you want to be an awesome beauty professional (or you just want awesome hair), check them out!

This school was a life changing experience for me. You will get the basics down and be released into the wild after 3 months of dedicated study. Never stop taking classes and continue your education path after getting your Esto license. You will be one of the best.For a school comparison; I stopped into a school in South Dakota 6 months after graduating from Metroasis to get a student wax. I had previously looked at the Esthetician program as a candidate for my education. The students there had really terrible quality tools to work with that made their job very difficult. Poor girl had runny cold wax everywhere. Awkward technique. Her friend came in to help and had the same awkward technique. (Think running across a room with a paper plate desperately spinning a wax stick and wax going everywhere) It was very dirty. I left with patches of hair on my legs, wax on my clothing and paid $40. These ladies had been there for 10 months and were graduating in 2 weeks. I WOULD HAVE SPENT 16k TO GO HERE AND LEAVE WITHOUT THE TOOLS I NEED TO SUCCEED. Don’t be an airhead. Go to school at Metroasis.

I attended this school about 6 months ago, and am so glad I did. I loved the school, as well as the instructors. Learning from individuals that have a love and passion for the industry creates an amazing learning environment. I learned so much while I was there, and because of them, I am now able to make my dream career a reality.Thank you SO much Sue and Sigel!

I took the Esthetician program at MetrOasis. I had a wonderful experience with lots of hands on practice. The instructors are caring and their goal is to insure the students have the tools needed to start their new profession.

I have used Metroasis for formal up dos for prom in high school, hair cuts, and a whole make over with a perm after I had my second son. I am amazed each time I go in with the friendly people, the attention to detail in their work, and a good chance to just take a break from being busy. I sent my daughter to MetrOasis on two separate occasions, the first time was a basic facial with Maci, she was so sweet and very professional. My daughter told me that she gives the best massages ever, she was very friendly and told my daughter ways to improve her skin and they actually worked!! The second time she went to MetrOasis was to get a leg wax from Courtney. My daughter was very nervous because this was the first wax she has ever had. Courtney made her feel very welcome and talked her though the entire process. My daughter walked out of there with a great experience and plans on returning. BUT I was not impressed with how cluttered and crazy the front lobby was. There was so much dust I couldnt even take it, so I had to leave the building and wait for my daughter to tell me when to pick her up. The music that was playing had some foul language and the hairdressers were a tad bit unprofessional. But what do you expect when walking into a school of young women. lol. I love MetrOasis and see that they are remodeling and getting the salon back on track.

I like getting pampered with the occasional facial. MetrOasis offers excellent ones from wonderful students at a price that I can rationalize. I have an appointment today and plan to come here at least once a month for the forseeable futur

BEST Esthetics School in State!! After attending higher education (college) both locally and abroad. Working in several internships and the real world. I found myself lacking passion for the things I did. So I quit my full time Marketing job and went back to school, to pursue my life long passion of makeup artistry.After doing much research and looking into the programs that were offered locally I chose MetrOasis and here is why:For Sue and Sigel Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. (-William Butler Yeats) After all these years of teaching and working they are still very passionate about what they do. And that passion transcends into their teaching and thus their students. Offering one on one hands on training and small group settings. Even after you finished school and state boards they still help you out.From passionate people, to the individual training and continued support. I am only putting a 1 star because there is no option to put in a 0 star. Franz Shroy from Metro Oasis is the worst hair salon school that I have ever been with. They do auto dial telemarketing to consumers that is very illegal. Franz Shroy is a thief. Do not do business with this business. I know 5 other students that would say the exact same thing. He teaches his students how to overcharge their clients. Do not do business with Metro Oasis or Franz Shroy. You can also see the 5 star reviews are all from Franz Himself. Sue, Sigel, and MetrOasis are awesome!They completely prepared me for the practical and written state Board exams. I passed with flying colors! I could not have been more pleased with the hands-on experience, machine and product knowledge, as well as the confidence I came away from school with.They prepare their students for the salon/spa business world, and they go above and beyond the text book in their training - from how to negotiate a lease, how to keep track of expenses/sales, and giving students realistic expectations and ideas of the costs of running a business - all of which made my transition into owning my own business painless and successful.Walking into MetrOasis, always feels like I am returning home.

KUDOS to the owners of MetrOasis; Sue and Sigel are the kindest people…ever! They designed their salon with an obvious love of what they do and in full investment of taking lead in their industry. Once you walk in, it only takes seconds to notice that this is not your ordinary salon/training center.Firstly, it does not even look like a school. The atmosphere is generously filled with eye appealing moments of welcoming ambiance. There’s the inviting fireplace and comfy cushions in the waiting area, to all the lighting and glass shelving, to the lavish hardware, the hand grouted marbled tiles at each station, and the many antiques sprinkled throughout the salon. As one browses through the many rooms and hallways, and that you must explore a peek or two, each area has its own look, uniquely created with somewhat of an artsy Euro-eclectic flair. Many of the items are either created by Sue or Sigel, as artists themselves, or are purchased treasures from their many annual trips to Europe.Then, as you look around, you find that the prices of their many services are quite affordable for any budget. One can’t imagine the years of experience that it takes, from their combined efforts, to know just what fusion of elements is required to achieve the success they have in their business operations as well as the success rate of their students. As if there were no end to the talents of the MetrOasis founders, owners, experts in the hair and beauty industry, and incredibly encouraging instructors, there is one area that, after some reflection, this author noticed they missed! Yup, just one; but in describing it, it too, has earned more kudos.The voice of MetrOasis: “MetrOasis, this is Sue…..”, belongs to the ever- friendly owner that has missed out on bottling up and marketing yet another rare find. Even if you haven’t met Sue yet, you can’t miss her. Not only is she the one who most often answers the phone, she is usually treating the guests with espresso and refreshments, does many of the student hair checks, schedules the appointments, offers the morning training, manages the stylists on the floor, and meets everyone with such grace, who walks through their doors. That one element that MetrOasis has missed in their menu of services and products is that Sue Shroy could have written the book on the finer points of the true meaning of Customer Service.Each and every day, it is Sue who makes sure that each and every customer that walks through their doors, feels so extra special by being welcomed and taken care of and upon leaving, feeling absolutely the most special customer of their day. Metroasis really IS an oasis for me - I cant say enough good things about Sigel and Sue and their attention to detail, and the depth of knowledge and integrity on which they have built their fine business. I was impressed many years ago when they first began work in Anchorage, and I cant imagine going anywhere else now. Their new shop is so lovely and fun too - influenced by their regular trips to Europe and their inspiring, original, artistic sensibilities. The students there know theyd better fasten their seatbelts too, because they are really in for some rigorous learning - Sigel and Sue have built a very impressive school program. And on top of it all - I love the crèmes and conditioners Sigel makes himself!

I went in a couple of times, and my experience was great in terms of customer service, but my hair was botched so I made another appointment to fix it and couldnt make it on time and spent an hour or more calling with no answer.... I left a message finally and was told I couldnt make another appointment because I was a no show. How am i no show if i wasnt given a chance to prevent the no show by you ignoring my calls? So now im left with this disgusting uneven hair til god knows when. Thanks guys! Ill be more than pleased to show my call records as well as text records. If your top stylist is someone that had been in school for two weeks, then I guess thats your top stylist. Grow up. Youre business owners, this is constructive criticism. Maybe the fact that everyone who is an actual customer, and not told to do reviews, arent giving very high reviews because its true. How tacky of you to post personal information about a client...its obvious this is not the first time you have done this. It is unlawful. I wont ignore it.
