It was a little difficult to find as its located in a warehouse district and my GPS seem to be very confused! Finally found it and they have a very wide selection of freshly baked treats. I ordered a few scones, a loaf of freshly baked bread and a delicious small hot cocoa cake. When I finally got home with the chocolate cake, I wished Id had some creamy vanilla ice cream to enjoy with it. Got to go to the local H-E-B and get some! Loved everything I tasted and look forward to a return trip to try additional items when I return to Ann Arbor!

First time visit here plenty of selection of baked goods and Breads and desserts highly recommend coming here customer service was excellent very helpful and attentive and explaining everything also have a small deli case of sweets such as cheesecake and other delectable Delights and also have some spreads and pimentos and cheese.

As a former UofM MSEE grad school student in 1990-2, I used to ask the same question and have become a loyal fan now in 2021... so let me try to answer in a new way.In grad school I was always frugal. Ten dollar haircuts were my norm. Living near North Campus, Id pass Zingermans Deli every time Id go to a racquetball club on the south side of Ann Arbor, but their prices made the food a bit out of my league as a teaching assistant... so each time Id drive by it was with a metaphorical nose pressed against the glass which left me wondering why so many were so loyally ecstatic about their delicacies.When I graduated and got a good engineering job in LA in 1992, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive beckoned. Eventually, a girlfriend insisted I get a 1993 haircut at Jose Eber Salon on Rodeo Drive. What an experience! It was a Saturday in September, and a Notre Dame college football game played on TV as the quality and service of Beverly Hills pampering, musing, and fusing showed me what a Real haircut & color really could be. Was it expensive? You bet. But can one haircut initiate a paradigm shift in why we pay for such Quality? Oh, you betcha. I doubled-down on it and returned on my own for a 2nd $165 Rodeo Drive experience in 1994.So glad I did because in January 1995, I acted as an extra in the fine film Get Shorty and appear in the background of 5 scenes shot at LAX.30 years later, I dont remember any details of all of those $10 haircuts but am grateful for those 2 Beverly Hills haircut events and still vividly recall them with no regrets for the prices I paid.Rarely do my eyes roll to the back of my head when I take a bite of packaged and processed grocery store food, but it happens all of the time when I take a bite of Zingermans. Its just that good.A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimension.Kinda like a little league team versus true professionals of Quality...I think the saying is You get what you pay for.Thats why I shop there now in 2021.Now excuse me while I take a bite.Zings Magic Brownies beckon!!!

How is everything so good? The sweets are great, but never too sweet. I love the ginger cookie, the carrot cake, the lemon cloud thingies. Im telling you, this place is superior. And they are kind!

For years I thought of this as my little secret because this is where everything gets baked to be served at the restaurants and shipped out in peoples orders.Fast forward and it is no secret but its still an amazing place to get delicious breads and baked goods.Its not a very big shop and they only allow eight customers in at a time. They actually had an employee at the door keeping track of how many people were in the store and allowing the right number of people to go in when they could.Today we got Zingermans sourdough bread and a lemon cookie and English muffins which we had never tried before.The quality is always tough match and I am never disappointed. My son was impressed that a baguette and Zingermans is actually less expensive than a baguette at Panera, where he works.

We came here because every single local person told us absolutely had to try Zingermans while we were here. The baked goods were phenomenal. We tried the cupcakes, the pies, the biscuits, the Obama buns and the famous Obama buns. None of them disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were delighted to have found this gem. We came back the next morning for more goodies and even got some baked goods to take home to relatives. We will definitely return once we come back to Ann Arbor.

Darn tasty bakery treats and friendly service! 5 stars there.Its pricey, but thinking the quality was worth it.Chocolate cupcake was incredible.I dressed up their brownie with chocolatey ice cream a la Cold Stone and whipped cream. Was a delicious combo.

Very creative and delicious offerings. Very cognizant of food and health safety. A favorite is the farm loaf-perfect crust with soft inside, great chew-versatile for sandwiches, toast or just tearing away pieces to snack on or as a side to a meal.. Other baked goods enjoyed include cupcakes, cakes, pastries and pies. All ingredients chosen thoughtfully for the best flavor, supporting local farms and artisans.

When the Bakehouse opened in 1992 it started an entire community of Zingermans businesses. One of my very favorite things they bake, is their Sour Cream Coffee Cake! Simple things done well and made with excellent ingredients! It hits all the right notes! If I could send you to one spot to experience some of the very best food, cheese, baked goods, bread, coffee and candy that our country and world has to offer then it would be here in Ann Arbor, MI! Purchased two frozen pasties today. One beef and one carmelized onion. They baked up beautifully and tasted better than any pastie we have ever had. We are full and happy!

Everyone already knows their stuff is overpriced (pretty good but not worth the money). We got a gift card and wanted to try to get good value. We got the the airport blvd location at 9am and asked for the bread of the month and a cake that was on sale, and they were sold out of both of them. Its 9am. It is like Not everything is overpriced, here are a couple things on sale--- PSYCHE! We got a overpriced cookie (fine) and a breve (super good).

We got a gift basket from this place and everything was terrible—NOT fresh, stale, one scone even had a mold spot the day before the “eat by” date. We baked the sourdough loaf the day we got the package, as directed exactly, and it was so hard and dry it was inedible. Super disappointing for what was supposed to be a celebratory gift. Maybe they’re great in store but don’t use them to send gifts. The Blondie was the only thing that shipped well that I actually enjoyed—also eaten the day after receiving. If you happen to get this stuff as a gift my recommendation would be to immediately freeze all of it until ready to try to eat. Ignore the “eat by” dates as they’re extremely optimistic.

Had a 6 month old baby with us who was a little upset during our visit. Took my mask down for a second while 6+ ft apart from the next closet person to comfort the baby. Ofelia ( worker) was very unhappy with me, entered our 6 ft space to inform me my mask had to cover my nose and was very rude about it.

The most expensive cupcake ( for its size being very small!) @ $3.50, but very good baked goods, and responsive, friendly employees. And, for us icing fanatics, yes, you can buy extra icing for your cinnamon rolls! Tried the Boston Creme cake slice- delicious, complex flavors, though pricier (think it was like $6.50 small slice!) than many sit- down restaurants! So, when Entenmans & Hostess just dont cut it, pony up a few bucks & get the good stuff from some good guys!

Their customer service is like no other, and the quality is outstanding. They made Valentine’s Day special with the “Roses cake” (pictured). Everything tastes delicious, and is presented beautifully. Everything here costs more than many bakeries, but you get what you pay for here — and then some. They pay attention to all the details. Zingerman’s Bakehouse puts quality first.

Hunka Burnin Love Chocolate Cake ??!!!I bought this cake with high expectations for taste and design! It had a very simple design & tasted just like sugar and poor quality cooking oil or butter substitute! FAR from any rich kind of chocolate cake !!!There is no real picture on their website for any of this cakes! So you cant really see what you are buying when you order online!It also comes with the surprise that this cake must be eaten at room temperature which makes it weird to whoever is not used to eat this kind of cakes!Not a good experience overall for my European taste! I can only suggest Yoons bakery in A2 area for their rich and delicious chocolate cake!

Smells delicious, worth walking in just to take a breath. But its expensive, more so than Zimmermann goods in other stores like Plum Market. But if youre bored and want to pick out a new tasty loaf, or dont mind splurging on a little dessert (3.50 for cupcake), you will enjoy attentive service.

Wonderful experience. We got our wedding cake and sheet cakes from them, and they tasted amazing!! Wonderful staff, they got exactly what we were looking for in our custom cake, and they delivered it to the venue on time and in one piece. Loved them!

Wow! I give out very few 5 star ratings. Zingermans place blew me away. I have had many pastries In many counties and the pastries at Zingermans Stand up to the best I have tried. Once you get over maze to get to there location, you will be happily satisfied by there coffee and baked goods.

I expect quality food from Zingerman’s, and they only employ the most courteous, professional, and considerate people. We ordered our wedding cakes from Zingerman’s for our 11/9/19 wedding. We love out of state and start to finish the experience was fantastic. We had a two tier bridal cake and an individual cake on each of our 15 tables. We did all different flavors and the staff at Zingerman’s was so helpful in designing both the inside and the outside of all 16 cakes. The cakes were delicious and beautiful and our guests raved about them! I would highly recommend Zingerman’s for your wedding and specialty cake needs. They even left a personalized, hand written note and brownie party package on our gift table! Thank you so much Zingerman’s! We will definitely be back next time we visit Ann Arbor :)

I got to sample (then purchase) sourcream coffee cake & farmhouse white. The cake was sublime (a client gift) and the loaf was their monthly special. Crisp crust and delicious bread.

I went for the first time today and was so impressed with everything I got! Their grilled cheese and tomato soup was the ultimate comfort dish... Delicious! I think the cinnamon roll was my favorite part! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back!

I LOVE the bake house. The people that work there are lovely, and the actual baked goods are awesome. I buy the pimento cheese weekly as well.... but Zingerman’s as a whole charges ridiculous amounts for many items you can come by anywhere at a fraction of cost. They had an 8oz brick of very run-of-the-mill Cabot extra sharp white cheddar for $7.49. For comparison it costs $6 next door at costco for 2lbs of the SAME CHEESE. Walmart also sells this for $2 for the 8oz. They’re charging almost four times the normal retail price and it’s not even in fancier packaging. Just really disappointing. I get it for stuff they make, and I can taste Cabot cheese in the pimento, but there is at least an in-house recipe for that. I wish they’d just sell the far overpriced stuff just mail order and not try and rip off regular customers with ordinary items.

My waistline and wallet are jumping for joy that I graduated from UofM and moved 30 minutes away so that I cant live at this delicious place anymore. I could eat everything. You cant go wrong... cookies, scones, cakes... I want it all.

I had never heard of the bakehouse, but assumed it would be worth winding through the industrial park after dark to see if I could find it. I arrived 10 minutes before closing, to find friendly staff, tasty choices, and quick checkout.

Zingerman’s Bakehouse provided the cake for our elopement wedding at Cornman Farms. After our first wedding planning meeting, Cornman Farms sent us home with a box of samples. As soon as we tried the Vanilla Chiffon Cake, we knew it was the one. It had a Vanilla Bean Pastry Cream with Blackberry Preserves and Vanilla Buttercream – so light, airy, and not overly sweet, yet still felt like such a special cake. Our guests raved about it as well. Highly recommend!

Fantastic. The bread and pastries are awesome. Best pecan pie ever. Top quality ingredients. Also they have daily sandwich specials. The grilled cheese and the roast beef are special and the price is very reasonable. And because it is zingermans, they stand behind everything they sell 100%.

If you are looking for baked goods and arent in downtown Ann Arbor this is an excellent place to stop. You can actually see the bakery and the employees creating amazing baked goods. Staff are helpful and friendly. Prices for Zingermans items are not cheap, but they are well worth the money. Highly recommend the scones!

Zingermans made everything so easy for our wedding. My mother-in-law and I went in for a consultation, and instantly knew they were the bakery for us. They listened, came up with a sketch while we watched and gave our input, and sent us home with a box of samples FOR FREE. The planning sheet was easy to fill out. They do a phone meeting a few weeks out to get things finalized, so communication was excellent. Very professional, and their cakes are delicious. So many of our guests talked about how good the cakes were (we did several flavors of cupcakes, or which you can mix and match cake, filling, and frosting flavors, and Zingermans helps you decide what would taste good together). We also had a sweetheart cake which we cut during our grand entrance. The thing I am happiest about is the professionalism. They know what they’re doing, which is exactly what you need when you’re planning a wedding, hoping everything turns out great!

Quality is excellent as usual for Zingermans but the selection at this facility is limited and is not as good as the downtown bakery.

Best bread ever! The caraway rye is better than any Polish or Jewish bakery Ive tried. The challah is light and makes delicious sandwiches. And the staff? They are what makes Zingermans special.

I recently had a chance to take a pizza class there and was quite happy with the great instruction I received.Their instructors answered all my questions and where very helpful.I would Highly suggest them for any baking classes .

The woman who helped me needs additional Zing training! Maya was grumpy, never smiled, sliced my bread warm, when I questioned she said i cut it as slow as I could.... And turned a cold shoulder to me. Yikes.... Hard to believe one person can sour my experience. I love Zingermans and guess I expect 100% customer service. Went back to get a replacement for my sliced gluten mess! Thank you Zingermans... Retrain this one please.

I love most things that Zingermans produces and sells. My favorite from the bakehouse is their delicious foccocia bread. I eat it as a snack, but mainly use it for paninis. This is one of 3 places Ive found that sell this type of bread, and Im soooooo thankful for it.

Ah, it’s Sunday and they have donuts! Wonderful raised donuts with the darkest chocolate frosting. You can tell their cinnamon rolls ARE really cinnamon! Their croissants are very good too. Overall a very good bakery with a lot of speciality items. Have been going here for years now and will continue when in town from PDX and France.

This was my first time coming here and it won’t be my last. I received the best customer service on the phone and I am sad I forgot the name of the woman handling my phone call but she assisted me very well and answered all of my questions. Also, I received the best customer service in-store as well! I was very shy and confused since it was my first time in the bakery and Brandon made me feel more than welcome. He was extremely nice and helpful! This is a very nice establishment and I will be coming here often. - Joy

OMG, if you need a wedding cake--or any cake--dont bother going anywhere else. Today Jamie almost literally bent over backwards for us with no hesitation and she made me feel straight up special. We had just come from *THE* worst experience I have ever had with any employee of any business (the owner of nearby Big City Small World Bakery on Miller) and Jamie was so unquestionably nice that I legit almost cried. Thank you, Jamie--you saved the day!

What do you say about one of the nations best bakery? Selection is unbelievable, from breads to pastry cakes and pies. Right now I’m in love with the Lemon Cloud pastry, Semolina Bread, and French Eclair. Zingermans for President!

My workplace uses Zingerman products to sell to our guests. I am not a fan of the product. Everything is so dry and overbaked, any flavored biscuits or scones or bread is severely lacking in flavor, almost all products are beyond dry (on days we use fresh product even) and to be quite honest being a baker and having worked at a national bakery cafe chain, the products aren’t worth the price that even I pay for them-free. Considering my very small bite of banana nut chocolate chip bread nearly choked me because it was so dry I couldn’t swallow it.The only product that is semi consistently good is the berry pastry, and the only product I would purchase are the sugar cookies decorated with fondant.

True to form, the bakehouse meets every expectation of high Zingermans quality in terms of good and service. The place is fantastic, and the prices, while not low, arent outrageous. A personal favorite are the two Thursday soups: Beer Cheese and Chili. When you order, ask for half-and-half! Youll be hooked!

Definitely worth a try. Something different. Just okay products.

We received three loaves of zingermans bread as a Christmas gift. What a wonderful surprise! We have eaten 2 loaves they are wonderful. We will be ordering ourselves next. We live in Ky. now and appreciate the Michigan blessing.

I worked at the bakehouse and a lot of ingredients they use are Sysco or GFS. They talk about using the highest quality ingredients but when they can cut corners they do. I made rice Krispies for them with GFS marshmallows and GFS Krispies. They say a lot of it is local but really only the butter apples, eggs, and milk are local.

Some of the best bread and snacks I’ve ever had. Definitely in a weird location but they make it easy to find. My favorites are the Parmesan pepper bread and the Buenos Aires brownie. Wish I lived in Ann Arbor so I could stop in all the time!

Our firm ordered gift baskets from Zingermans as thank you gifts for clients. We ordered 12 baskets, each going to different addresses. Zingermans did all the work and made it easy. We provided them with our corporate logo, thank you message, names and adresses and they took it from there! The whole process was simple and pleasant. Thank you!

Zingermans Bakehouse is one of my absolute favorite places to get cakes, pastries, bread, and other baked goods. They are always incredibly helpful and they always have great samples of all their products. Everything I have tried at Zingermans is amazing, but my favorite item is the Eszterházy Torte.I have frequently ordered cakes from their store, and the customer service is always excellent. The staff are incredibly accommodating and will do everything possible to get you what you need--even with last minute orders! They are always friendly and helpful both on the phone and in store.I highly recommend Zingermans Bakehouse for special occasions, such as birthdays or holidays, or even if youre just in the mood for something sweet.

Got a chocolate b day cake. The cake was very dry, the frosting was just overly sugary. Overall the taste (if u could choke it down) was just sugar. Just get a cheap cake from Meijer. This was such a disappointment. Yuck
