I had resisted karate for quite a while because it had never been anything that I was overly enthusiastic about. That all changed when my wife and son started taking classes at this dojo. Mr. Houston is extremely passionate about karate instruction and the hall of fame certificate and accolades mounted on his wall are well earned. Ive been taking classes for a little over 6 months or so now and I can see myself staying with this dojo for years to come. From the time you enter and are greeted by Mrs Celie to the time you salute out of class at the end of your lesson you are treated with respect and kindness and you are treated like family. I cannot say enough good words about the dojo and staff, but Ive definitely found that enthusiasm I was lacking before.

My kids have gone here for many years. Mr. Houston is such a great instructor. He challenges his students to give 100%. My kids have learned so much here and I would highly recommend this dojo.

Karate International is just what we were looking for. My Son is really learning but in a fun and professional environment. It is just the right mix of warm and loving and seriousness. It is a bright and clean facility as well. My son loves going!

My son has been taking classes for almost 4 years now at KIA and he is on a path for black belt. Mr. Houston teachers the student the art of the sport as well as respect, discipline and focus. It’s a great program for boys and girls that builds confidence and coordination. There are also leadership opportunities for the students as they progress in their belt rank. From a parents perspective it is so rewarding to see my child grow and mature as he pursues his goal of obtaining a black belt. My son and I have found a second home at KIA!

My daughter has been taking classes at Karate International in Apex with Mr. Houston for a little over two years now and loves it. Not only do the children learn karate, but they also learn about respect, discipline, and strength. It helps build their self-confidence and is a place all feel welcome. Both of my daughters have taken karate here and they both loved it. My youngest is now enrolled and it has been great for her. Mr. Houston is a great teacher and the kids love him. He instills discipline in an effective and fair way. My daughter really looks forward to coming to class. The school is a great mix of rigorous karate training and fun!

We have multiple family members attending Karate International of Apex. The experience is great for all of us! Mr. Houston encourages everyone to learn at their own pace and continue to improve. Mr. Houston is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. Theres a terrific camaraderie among all the students as well. Karate International of Apex grows and stretches minds and bodies for kids and adults alike. I highly recommend it!

TL;dr - this place is phenomenal, has a real family atmosphere, and isn’t a belt-giveaway dojo.My kids and I have been members here for a little over six months, and during this time Mr. Houston and his wife have made our learning truly exceptional. There is an atmosphere of family here - from the moment you step in the door you are welcomed. My daughter had her birthday party here, and the Houstons went all out to make it a memorable experience for us and our daughter’s friends - including a samurai cake cutting! Over the last six months, Mr. Houston has worked diligently to ensure that both of my kids were receiving the highest and best instruction possible, even going above and beyond to provide private lessons when one of my kiddos was struggling. While other dojos seem to lower standards to keep people happy, Mr. Houston maintains the standards and then works hard to teach his students until they meet them. I can not recommend Karate International more highly. You and your family need to be a part of this family!

We LOVE Karate International of Apex! Mr. Houston is wonderful with all the students and gives them great attention. He is willing to give one-on-one instruction when needed and is very encouraging. My son has attended classes there for over four years and received his black belt earlier this year. Give it a try -- you wont be disappointed.

My daughter has been attending for almost a year and we love this dojo. Mr Houston is flexible and kind, without being a pushover. We love the sense of support all of the participants give one another. Reasonable rates and team spirit abound. Excellent confidence builder for our child.

We have two children who take Karate classes at KIA. Wade Houston the Chief Instructor and is great with children of all ages. He is very patient and is able to make minor modifications for children with special needs. If you are interested in learning martial arts in an open and friendly environment, give Mr. Houston and Karate International of Apex a try.

I cant say enough good things about KI Apex and Mr. Wade Houston, the master instructor there. My 7 year-old daughter took karate for a year and my husband and I are both students now. Mr. Houston blends many disciplines into his teaching of karate (judo, self-defense, jujitsu, etc.) and keeps the classes varied, interesting and challenging, especially for a pair of 40-somethings! Also noteworthy are the black belts who regularly train there - a great group of people from all age groups who are eager to help thereby enriching the training experience. Im routinely impressed by the ready encouragement and collegial atmosphere at the Apex dojo and would recommend it to anyone who is curious about martial arts training.

My son has been going to Karate International of Apex since he was 5. We started him in karate to gain confidence and to learn self defense skills. Mr. Houston has been so amazing with him, he is firm and commands respect as a 7th degree black belt, but is absolutely fantastic with the kids, and they love him! My son is now nearly 10 and will be getting his black belt this week, and more importantly, he is confident, self assured and has the self defense skills he will need in life. Thanks KI of Apex
