I visited Aveda institute for the first time today ( first and Not last). I had the pleasure of having my hair cut by Stephen. Stephen did a phenomenal job on my hair and his communication was impeccable. He took his time and made sure he understood exactly what i was asking for. If he needed clarity or guidance he did not hesitate to ask which provided a level of comfort for me. He talked me through every part of the process which is a big deal for me. How many times have you been in the chair and the stylist said nothing about what they were doing? Even though he is a student he still made me completely comfortable and i was able to close my eyes and breathe and enjoy the conversation. The student IS becoming the master. Everyone that i encountered at Aveda was warm, friendly and welcoming. 10/10 would reccomend.

I had a haircut yesterday with a student graduating tomorrow. Asked for a cut straight across. Its the worst cut I ever had -- and I always go to salon schools. Very disappointed and will never go back. Im also unhappy with the blockiness of some of the highlights, but that is more typical of students. The cut, though, was inexcusable. I cant believe I paid for this horrible cut and gave the student a tip!

Ladies, please dont risk it. You will regret it! I hope my horrible story can save you from a ton of pain, expense, disappointment and hassel you dont deserve in the future! The moral is DONT GET BURNED! Went for a highlight with Grayson. They mixed me up with another Grayson. I was told that she was really good with highlights and that they would make sure it looked that way I wanted it. I asked for caramel. She ended up turning my hair red! Then she tried to fix it and turned it burnt red brown. I had to go to Van Michael Salon and get it fixed ($195). Spoke to Krissy the Director of Aveda Institute. She refused to compensate me for the fix or even give credit for Aveda products. I was standing there in person showing her how my highlights were Caramel, the color I asked for and showed her pictures of the disaster that was done to my hair. It didnt matter. Who does that?!

Had a fabulous experience at this Institute. My stylist was amazing! She gave me one of the best bob haircuts I have ever had. The cut was exquisite. I liked the cut so much, I came back the next day for partial highlights. I live in Texas, but was here on vacation. I have never had a bad experience at any of the Aveda Institutes I have received services at. I trust Aveda products and their students. The teachers have always been very good about sharing their techniques with their students. Excellent value and you are helping to train someone.

TLDR: Aveda Institute has the most passionate, customer-centric stylists I have ever encountered, and their stylist Kate S is indeed one of the best!Aveda Institute is always a pleasure to visit, and Ive loved the service each and every time Ive come here. Yesterday, I had the absolute best haircut experience -- not just at Aveda, but overall. Ive been to dozens of different salons in New Jersey, New York, Florida, and Texas, and I typically pay $60, $70, even $80 for the standard wash-cut-and-style service, and none of those previous experiences measures up with the service offered to me by Kate S at Aveda. I have damaged, frizzy hair that Im pretty self-conscious about, and Kate had me leaving the salon a new, beautiful person, and for a third of the price I am used to paying. She is such a lovely person to talk to -- so genuine, so passionate about her work, so eager to make people feel better about themselves. She was very considerate and gentle, and very insightful, too! When I came in asking for a conditioning treatment, she asked me some questions about my hair and finally suggested a damage-control treatment instead, which would add proteins to my hair instead of just moisture. The treatments were the same price, but still, Kate wanted to make sure she was doing the best she could for my hair. I asked her for some tips and suggestions all throughout the haircut, and she gave me some great recommendations and simple tricks to keep my hair strong. I cannot recommend her enough, and she is a paragon of the students at the institute. I wish all hairstylists mirrored her sincerity and her aptitude, for she is absolutely phenomenal! I cant wait to visit her for my next cut or style!

I use Aveda institute regularly for cuts and highlights. I absolutely recommend their services. I have been quite happy over the course of twenty years of using the Aveda Institute student stylists both in Atlanta and NYC. Of course these stylists are students and thus they can make mistakes. However, they are well guided and supervised, and the instructors monitor their progress throughout the cut or color session. The reduced price you pay for premium products and services reflects the student’s potential for making errors, and you should understand that fact before scheduling an appointment. And please consider trying to be nice even if there is a mistake. They happen. Only on two occasions of over a hundred visits can I recall mistakes made - once in NYC, once in ATL. Both errors were adequately repaired by instructors, and I looked fine, and hair grows. I do recommend getting an appointment and seeing how good Aveda Institute is!

The Aveda institute Atlanta is a great place. I arrived 10 minutes early and they immediately had someone greet me and show me to my chair. My review is for a haircut experience. They asked very clearly what I wanted and had an educator make me feel at ease and understand exactly what I was looking for. They washed/conditioned my hair and started cutting my hair. I had an experienced hairdresser so the cost was $18. She cut all my hair and then the educator did a final check as she was the experienced hairdresser and just graduated. They then went step by step if I liked my hair, made me feel comfortable to tweak things during my face framing and texturing my hair at the end. The educator was Ms. Journey and she was amazing. I loved her expertise and her showing tips of the trade to the students. She was absolutely the best. Overall great experience and took an hour and half. I would definitely recommend anyone to come as it is a great experience and the products they use on you are amazing!!!!

The Master Student who did my hair was personable and enthusiastic, but she didnt really take my preferences into account. For example, I told her I almost never wear any product in my hair; the rare times I do, its just one. She put three products in my hair, and wouldve put another if I hadnt stopped her. I never wear make-up, but as I was about to pay, she came up to and tried to put lip color on me (I didnt allow her). I told her I didnt want much of my medium-length hair cut (i.e., keep as long as possible) and she promised she was going to be very conservative in the amount she cut. I expressed concern after a while, and she said not to worry, shed only cut 2 or 3 inches. Well, I asked for an exact number, and it turned out she cut more than 5 inches.I know Im partly to blame -- I shouldve spoken up sooner, and louder, but she was so nice. I knew her intentions were good -- she really wanted me to look nice -- so it felt churlish to stop her. Yes, my bad. And I think the haircut looks good (after washing out all of the product and allowing it to air dry). I just think she should pay more attention to what the client say/presents as.

I’ve gone to Aveda institutes in Fl and WA for years. Even went to the Atlanta one years ago. This time I expected it to be no different- it does take time to get a simple haircut but you’ll have a nice one. This time the staff was very rude and took 3 hours to get a trim. The front desk staff was unbearably rude. The quality of this place has dropped dramatically overall. I always recommended my friends to go here.. I won’t be doing that anymore.

If I could give this review 0 stars I would. I went here to support a friend who is a student, and I had a lovely experience with her and one of the female instructors. Very thorough and listened very carefully to what I preferred. Then Mario came up and started hacking away without listening to me. He even said (supposedly joking) that shes just going to be quiet and love what I give her, because shes about to get a $200 haircut well, its been 24 hours and Ive literally spent 3 solid hours of that crying. Every time I look in the mirror I feel physically ill. I look like a bad 90s Rachel haircut, except I have super thick unruly frizzy hair (which if he had paid attention to me as a person he would have known) and not stick straight smooth hair-- so I look even worse. The shortest weird little sprigs he left me with barely touch the tip of my nose while the majority of my hair hits mid breast. It’s like I have two completely different length hair cuts. Long bob in the front, long long hair in the back. It took me nearly 2.5 years to grow my hair to a length I wanted, and because of the lady mullet he gave me, I wont see anything near that again for another 3 years or so. Im completely devastated.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have been to other Aveda Institutes before and always had an amazing experience, this was completely different. I came in for a long reverse bob.. when you go to a school like this you tell the person doing your hair what you want, they come up with a game plan, and then they get the instructor and go over everything to make sure they are confident before starting. Not the case at this school. The instructor came over and said you got this? And the girl said yeah. I just assumed because this girl was graduating in three weeks maybe she did have it..... She did not. My hair is now all the same length 4 inches shorter then I wanted. This place is not well run and they are not training these stylist properly.

The products and the Top Tier students tend to be competent and pleasant. Color services are why I like Aveda. Overall, skills seem very uneven and not enough supervision to keep things moving smoothly in the desired direction. Keep your requests simple and dont have hair issues. Cuts? Terrible on very curly/kinky hair. Straight and long hair rules. Be prepared. I expected cutting edge scissor work. Disappointed. Misrepresentation from those who think because they are Black, they know how to handle your texture. Not! Sometimes the other does a better job. Go figure.

You get what you pay for. The folks complaining on here need to realize these are supervised STUDENTS. Manage your expectations when booking services at a hair school. Expect very long waits when you arrive and a very long time (2+ hours) for a basic wash and trim. If you want a sophisticated hair style or are short on time, go somewhere else. I recommend early morning appointments, as they dont book appointments effectively and can run behind by quite a lot. Recommend paying a little more for a masters student. Again, would not recommend for anything other than a basic trim, but the facility is clean and nice. Sometimes, you will get a great student who is engaging and good and excited about what they are doing. Im happy with paying $20 for a near-graduating student to chop a couple inches off my hair every few months and I take the time to relax.

Ive gotten haircuts here about 4 times. The price is much lower than you would typically pay for a high quality, personalized haircut. (A trained professional cutting your hair to your exact specifications, or even creating a new style, can be around ~$50. At Aveda, expect to pay ~$20.)The students are all really knowledgeable, and always ask questions and check in with their instructors when they need help. If youre ever unsure about a choice your stylist is making, you can always speak up, and even ask for help from their instructor. Ive personally never had a bad experience here, and always communicated with my stylist on exactly what I wanted, and how their expertise could make my idea better. If youre looking for a haircut that you wouldnt typically find at a chain hair styling place, definitely come here. They can do professional looks, punk haircuts, hipster styles, etc. And they WONT try to steer you away from a daring hairstyle. Ive had shaved hair, a pixie, a bob, and Im now rocking a mohawk. Im very glad that I was able to go to Aveda to get their opinion & stylish cut.

My stylist, Ashley, was awesome! I would not suggest going here if you have a complicated/daring haircut. I only got a trim and I have very thin straight hair. My haircut took an hour, which was what I expected judging by the other reviews.I went in and there was a man still getting his hair done when I walked out. His stylist seemed very frazzled and unsure what to do. The back of his head looked pretty rough. The stylists have check ins with their instructors, so there is always someone nearby.I went only because my friend had a $20 off any service coupon, so I got a free haircut. If you are on a budget and get one of these coupons, I would use it. But be cautious! Looks like this place can be a hit or miss depending on which student you get.

I had the worst experience of haircut ever today. I have been visiting Aveda since 2010 and I have loved it always, but today was the worst experience of all, in fact after today, I am afraid of barbers!I was assigned to a senior student, graduating in two weeks, who was more enthusiastic about getting out of Aveda to pursue her business degree than haircut. I have never met anyone worst who handles hair so roughly ever. It all started from hair wash, she did not care if my hair was pulling, or did not care about informing me what she was putting in my hair and why. Then came the leveling of hair, she would hold the scissors open and hold it with the comb while taking my hair to cut, and the open scissors would tangle in my hair and she would pull it out and my hair would get chopped with it. I was almost into tears at that point, but the worst was yet to come. She started blow drying my hair, literally yanking the comb through my hair and the air was hotter than I could endure. I was cringing with all the yanking by this time and asked her to lower the air temperature twice, after third request, she tried to lower the temperature, but it was still too hot. Then, without warning, she left abruptly, and I was messaging my scalp because it burnt like hell. Luckily her instructor spotted me doing so, and asked me if I was ok, and finally, he heard me! He told me that my hair may not be completely straight from the roots if I requested for the lower temperature, and I was fine with it. I looked at the brush, there were so much hair yanked off, I just couldnt stand the site! Then as a final part, I requested the side bang. Without asking me about the length I was comfortable with, she chopped off a chunk first. I was in shock, trying to comprehend what happened, and she went on cutting, and I intervened. And just like that, she declared that haircut was finished. It looked horrible, and hence I explained it to the instructor. He tried fixing it and did a decent job, but with all the hair pulling and burning scalp, I just came home and broke into tears. I dont know if I could have requested a new student the moment the pulling of hair started, I wish I could have asked.

The students are getting their money stolen from them.Perhaps this Aveda institute once taught their students the art of cutting hair, but to me it seems that the students are being completely fooled by the brand. When I came in to get my hair cut all but one of the instructors had left. The students were left on their own, and the environment was unprofessional and chaotic. The young girl who cut my hair was sweet, but she had not been taught what seems to me to be the basics, right down to the fact that the salon cape was not positioned correctly so I got hair all over me and in my clothing. She also explained to me she works eleven hour days! 8am to 7pm with only one break. They also do not receive commission from product sales!Aveda is using these poor dreaming students as cheap labor and unpaid sales reps.I will not be going back. I wish the students the best because they are hard-working and need a break. But I hope Aveda better raise the bar on what these students are learning because they are paying with just more than money.

The student stylist became my life coach, and over the course of the haircut she gave me instructions on how to manage and style my hair everyday with step by step instructions. She worked quickly and I was out of there in no time. Some of the students take a long time to cut your hair. Thats the only drawback of having your hair cut by a student. However, the discounted price more than makes up for that small inconvenience. Remember too that the instructor is always working with the student. So you really have two stylists working together to make sure you get the cut you want. I recommend the Aveda Institute to everyone.

I have always had a good experience at Aveda. What I like most about it, is they do exactly what I ask for and are on the more conservative side. If I ask for a trim- they take 1/8 of an inch off, as opposed to some salons who overdo it. The highlights I get are always the right color. You can tell that the students are focusing on you and only you- they arent distracted or trying to do something trendy that you may or may not like. Have been going to the Aveda school for root touch-upalmost ten years. I was always satisfied ,BUT, My last three experiences have been awful. Not much supervision. Twice my color had to be redone because the roots were not processed long enough (even though I told them I needed longer processing). These two times my scalp developed sores. The last time my roots were not the right color, and the highlights were not processed long enough. Only had the top portion of hair highlighted. She started from back to front-- when the front was done, she immediately started removing the foils. Hair in front was not in foil for three minutes. Needless to say, no highlights were visible. Only darker roots with my older highlights looking like I needed my hair to be professionally fixed. During this whole process only one supervisor came by, did not check my hair, but told the student to continue. At the end there was not one supervisor in sight, so the student checked me out. I am not blaming the student because she needed the supervision of someone more knowledgeable. I am very disappointed with this school. I was considering enrolling here until after my tour. I was first in contact with a woman named Jacey who reached out to me personally to schedule a tour and offered a ton of information, I was super excited to tour and see where I would be learning. She was very personable over the phone, I figured she would be the one I was meeting with since she also emailed me confirmation.I get to the school and am greeted by one of the students who asks me to fill out a form and then has me sit in a separate waiting room for like 20 minutes.Rome “the financial aid advisor” was very stiff and asked me lots of the same questions,I felt like I was interviewing for a job instead of getting information on THEIR school. He briefing showed me the campus and seemed annoyed when I asked questions about the program. It honestly felt like an interrogation on why I would chose Aveda. The response time from Rome for questions after the tour was super slow.I will note that the students I did see did not look happy to be there, I’ll be taking my money elsewhere. Thanks Google

The people here were so nice! Leshun was an excellent listener about what I wanted and seemed super pumped to color my hair! The fact that there was always an instructor on hand eased my fears and the price is unbeatable! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to me and actually give me a new style that I have received so many compliments on!

I usually go here for haircuts. The prices arent bad for an institute, but the students take WAY too long for the most simple things. I also wouldnt recommend going here for anything more than a trim. Ive been going to various Aveda Institutes for years now and this one is definitely not the best of them.

Hair disaster. I have loved coming to Aveda and always had wonderful experience and my hair had never looked better, until Friday August 19. Got a graduated student that was not as supervised as much as other students. Think it is the worst cut I have ever had in 48 years. Could not tell there were highlights done to my hair. Since it was close to 8PM closing time, they told me to come Saturday to pop in a few highlights around my face. I drove about 35+ miles and after the whole experience, was not driving for a few foils and especially after my hair was gaped up so badly. Biggest issue is my hair is RUINED, gaped, so many layers/over textured that I cant do a thing with it. So short that I cant put it up, it is and a royal mess. The guy supervising Friday night came to try to correct my hair cut and did not help in making it look better. I asked for no more than 1 to be cut off and I got about 2-3 inches off the sides/back as well as the huge gaps as they tried to point cut my hair. Over layered and textured is an understatement. . I called the store Saturday to speak with the manager, no call. Today as Wednesday, I called again, to talk about this experience and to get my money returned. Was told it could be as late as Thursday for a return call. Absolutely not acceptable. I have disputed the charge on my account. Hope to find someone else to straighten out my hair, but am concerned they will have to take a lot off to fix what has been done at Aveda. I wont likely return. If you do go, get student that has not graduated, they are heavily supervised from start to finish and you get great work. But my trust for this place is gone.

The student who cut my hair was very pleasant and tried hard to please me. Why I will not return is because of the way the Institute uses these students as sale minnions to push their products. Its fine to tell me what youve used on my hair, but to mandate that the girl who spent energy and time on her craft of cutting hair, had to walk me to the front, put all three products in a basket and take me and the basket to the cashier was disrespectful to the student and to me. I made it clear upfront that I did not want to purchase any of the products but obviously the dog and pony show was something the student had no control over.

*Updated review as of July 2017 - wont be going back. I know this is a school, but their lack of attention to detail is mind blowing, given the fact that the student must be checked off by the instructor along the way during your appointment. Went in for color and not only did they dye my hair way much darker than discussed, the student got hair dye on my vest (which I took off and placed away from the chair after asking if it was safe to leave it there). I pointed out that my vest was now ruined and she did not apologize nor seem to have any sympathy. Upon going back in for the satisfaction guarantee to get the color correction, I chose a different student. She also got hair dye on my clothes! This time, it was the shirt I was wearing. She didnt cover the cape properly over my back!!!!! Seriously. Had to throw the shirt out. I looked like I rubbed hair dye all over it. Had asked for a natural dark brown color correction. She lightened my hair to go for a lighter brown (correcting the almost black color from before) but it turned out red. They are absolutely not concerned with customer service, attention to detail, or fulfilling your requests.Aveda Institute is a good place for hair if youre ok with having a longer appointment time. Ive been several times and overall have had good experiences. I would suggest going with a level two/master student (most experience) as theyll take the least amount of time. Make sure you know EXACTLY the cut and color you would like before going in and are very clear about what you would like. Also, if the instructor is not super involved, ask for them to be. That has only happened once to me. The only bad experience I had was with color/highlights - the highlights were the right shade but the student put way too many in causing my hair to look much lighter than I wanted (I am a brunette). The quality of the hair cuts and the quality of the color/dye they use is very good.

Worst haircut ever! After I clearly explained the style and provided pictures, she proceeded to ignore all of it. She whipped out her clippers and borderline shaved the side. I was furious but the only response I got was a weak apology and a poor joke about not being able to glue it back on. I was told they would have to even it out but it would still be a good looking cut. Wrong again! It is uneven all over the place, does not even come close to resembling the style I requested (and came in with I might add). Horrible cut and customer service. Will never go back.

Ive been an educator at the Aveda Institute in Atlanta for 5 years today. I want to tell everyone about my experience, I would like to say I work with some of the most talented educators in the industry. Being a seasoned stylist for 30+ years I am still learning from some of our younger educators. Our leadership team has the heart for teaching our students all about what it takes to be a professional. They treat the educators with kindness and respect and reward us for our hard work. I love the fact that they honestly care. My boss is always doing something special for the students to show how much she appreciates them not for any other reason but pure gratification. Our front desk is so knowledgable when it come to Aveda products and their customer service is 5 star all the way. Our behind the scene staff are so awesome, they work so hard and they still manage to know each and every students name. Our assistant director has an open door policy and listens to each and every student with what ever they bring to her, shes kind, understanding and as fair as they come. I just wanted to put that out there because I have read many of the reviews and it hurts me when I read something negative about our students, it so could crush their spirit after all they are just learning. We are proud to say our students work at some of the top salons in Atlanta. I love our students and I am so proud to be part of the Aveda team. So please take into consideration when reading these reviews that this is just the start of their career so please encourage them not discourage them. I consider my self to be fortunite to work for a company like this if it wasnt I wouldnt be celebrating my 5 year anniversary. Sincerely Carrie Taylor

I have been going to this place for my haircut and color since 2012. I really liked it initially but overtime, the service has started to decline. The last time, I went 3 weeks ago, i almost had my ear cut off with scissors by an experienced student and the instructor did not even bother to come and check after the student was done cutting my hair. The student also mentioned that she wasnt going to pursue any salon job later and may be go back to selling insurance. And the disinterest showed the whole time she was cutting my hair. I AM NEVER EVER GOING BACK THERE.

If youre looking to attend this school as a student, dont. The Aveda Institute Atlanta will fool you and use the brand name as bait. It is not worth the $20,000+ tuition. unless you have mommy and daddy paying, its a waste of your hard earned money. I graduated in January and came in with prior experience and also was one of the student with the high satisfaction rate and that was greatly because of my prior experience and not because of the institute. My class was lucky to have instructors who loved what they did but over the years time they all left because of various reasons. The state board training (the real reason youre in the school, not to cater to the large majority of rude clients who do not understand that this is a SCHOOL and are too cheap to pay licensed professionals and then complain about crappy service.) is non existent.Coming to this school will leave you unmotivated, ill prepared to take your state board, in debt, hiding between lockers, the break and laundry room and wishing that you would have went to Paul Mitchell instead.DO NOT ATTEND THE AVEDA INSTITUTE ATLANTA!

Ive been going to this location off and on for haircuts for six years. Most of the time in the past my haircuts have been awesome, something I believe was reflective of the quality of the instructors. However, Ive noticed during the past few visits that the quality has gone downhill, again something that I believe is related to the inattentiveness of the instructional staff. Beyond just the lower quality of haircuts, this last visit left a poor taste in my mouth. On two different occasions, the instructional staff were rude to me as a customer. One of those involved me sitting in the back with my SO while they got their hair cut. I was initially told that was okay, but then was told to leave by an instructor because I would intimidate the students. Ive been here before with other peoples children running around me while I got my hair cut, but having me sitting in the back was not okay. While this is a school, I think the current administration must reevaluate how their mission is to prepare their students for a service industry and must treat their customers accordingly. Bring back your former instructors who were both awesome at cutting hair, good at teaching their students, and that treated their customers with respect.

You get what you pay for...and I guess I earned my lesson. I showed up 5 minutes early to my appointment, to end up waiting for about 30 minutes - come to find out there was some mix up on my booking and finally a stylist brought me in. The instructor then tells me that I will have to chose either a highlight OR a cut (when my appointment was for both) because of my timing, which I had to wait for 30 minutes for their error. They agree to knock it down to a partial highlight instead of a full, but then charge me $10 extra because I have long hair so now Im paying for a full highlight. 3.5 hours later, my stylist was as sweet as can be, but my highlights didnt cover up any of my roots and my hair is darker than it was before. (Not what I asked.) As I was checking out, the lady in front of me hadnt even had her full color washed out of her hair. Thats $80 I could have put towards something much better, but as I said, you get what you pay for. My mistake! I wont be returning.

I had a nice experience at the Aveda Institute today! Master student Heather and her instructor Justin were a great team. Heather was very nice. When it came to cutting my bangs, she was very careful and spun me around 2 or 3 times to confirm I liked the length or wanted it shorter. She also educated me on the amount of shampoo to use from their line (which I had been using way too much of it seems haha), and even when we discovered she had cut one side too short, her instructor Justin was very courteous & friendly and fixed it to my liking right away. My hair feels smooth and light, and much healthier than when I came in. 1:30 for a wash, cut, and blow dry (about average).Despite being very busy, everyone at the front counter was nice as usual, and though I didnt pre book (I never do because I just never know what my schedule will be like), I would like to return for a trim or maybe some of their other services. Ive been going to the Institute for years in many different cities and almost always leave completely satisfied with my hair. This is a great place to go for a haircut at a great price. And if you arent satisfied, they are more than happy to make it right, on the spot.

Disclaimer: I have been a patron of student learning centers such as beauty and dental schools for the past 18 years, thus I feel I can provide some valuable feedback for both consumers and hopefully the school to reflect on.Where do I begin?# 1- After I complained to the director as my hair looked better when I walked in 4.5 hours and $82 earlier, she confessed that even the masters students (mine being 1 month away from graduation) were on all different levels of experience.#2- This would not be so much of a problem if they (students) were truly monitored properly at every step of the coloring/highlighting process by an educator as advertised; however, this is not the case.#3- Furthermore, even when the students are overseen properly they are given conflicting instruction from multiple educators rather than one single instructor overseeing a student/client per service provided (which is crazy). The student herself complained to me about the fact that she has received conflicting information from three instructors. I was visibly shaken and politely expressed my concern (with the student and instructor agreeing), but hugged the student and reassured her that I do not place blame on her, as I feel she either lacked instruction or was given too many different ones by the educators. This brings me to the next problem.#4- I walked to the front to pay at which point I heard the student I just hugged and reassured, mocking me. I can take a joke even when Im upset, but not when its untrue. Luck would have it I forgot my phone at her station which rang, and she was forced to bring it to me. I confronted her respectfully stating that her behavior is pretty disrespectful especially since her reenactment was not factual. She ended up apologizing and leaving quickly. One would think the very first lesson would be, how to act when a client is unhappy with their service.#5- After your service is complete they ask you right then and there to fill out a survey in front of the student and possibly faculty. A patron can not be objective and give valuable feedback under such circumstances. With this said, this place needs a lot of internal work and they can learn a thing or two from their sister facility in Ft. Lauderdale, FL which is run superbly like a well oiled machine. It is noteworthy to mention, I was forced to pay as I was told, service was provided and I did consent to a student doing my hair. However, I was offered to have it corrected by another student free of charge, which I respectfully declined.

I asked for a trim and light layers. The student kept point cutting my hair and left it uneven all over and somehow SHORTER in the front with no layers.I arrived at 11am and left at 2pm. I think she could see that I was so unsatisfied that I was about to cry. I was tired and about to get out of the chair with a half-cut head of hair and just leave. This was a month ago and I’ve waited this long to see if maybe my hair would grow out and relax, so I can maybe manage it a little better. There’s no chance. I already had shoulder length hair and have been trying to grow it out but now it’s just so screwed up that I’m going to have to lose another 2” of hair. She should not be doing hair. Instructors should be checking and double checking their students work.

HAIR IS FALLING OFF RAPIDLY!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!HAIR HORROR STORY!I went in to get my roots done. My hair naturally is a brown but it was a dyed dirty blonde. I just wanted my roots done. I then had my roots and 3/4 of my hair dyed brown, and then after I said that I came to get my hair blonde they tried to fix it by making me strawberry blonde. Thankfully they realized how upset I was and scheduled me for a free appointment in two days to fix my hair. I came in two days later to get my hair fixed. The day before I had teased my hair very big and spent and hour with a bottle of conditioner in my hair combing out the tangles. I know what my hair was like after combing through it for an hour. Yet, when I sat down they began brushing my hair to get ready for dye. I notice a lot of hair was coming out but I didn’t say anything. They continued to dye my hair and tone and in the end it looked good. However I felt something was wrong when they did not part my hair the correct way and when my hair dresser left half way through my hair being wet and left it to someone else to dry it. I brushed it off though. This was three days ago. Today, I wake up and brush my hair. I part it in a middle part to find that a large section of my hair is sticking up. My hair is long, it goes down to my butt, but this section of hair is only three inches long. I am left with a patch of my hair at the very top like this. If my hair was not healthy enough to dye it again so soon, then they (as the consultant) should have told me that.

Scheduled a follow up the following week to have my hair fixed and was told by the head teacher that they obviously arent capable of baylage and you need to go somewhere else to have this fixed, bye. And was promptly discharged without my hair being fixed, a refund, anything. This was my first time getting services done at this institute and it was my last. Me and my mother had came in to get our makeup done for an event and our students really didnt seem to have any idea what they were doing or how to even begin. We were patient and understanding with them because they really werent to blame. Its sad that students pay thousands to come here to LEARN how to do things and the instructors clearly arent providing a quality learning experience for them nor does the Institute provide proper tools to be successful.1. The student had sat me down at the makeup station, asked me how I wanted my make up done and after we chatted for a bit she didnt seem to know what materials to use and where to get them from. She was kind of looking through a bunch of different drawers (which were a bit dirty btw) and trying to gather anything she could use.2. She finally started doing my eye makeup and didnt prime my eyes prior to doing so, and was applying my eyeshadow with a q tip...My eyeshadow didnt really look like I had eyeshadow on and it didnt look smooth and crisp. One eye was also darker then the other and my eyes were pretty inconsistent overall. Im not a makeup expert but I know that quality makeup cannot be done without proper brushes or product.3. I have acne scars on my face and asked if she would do foundation, and the student looked at me unconfidently and whispered to be honest, the product here is not of quality. I was in shock but asked her to put some on my face anyway because at that point it was better then nothing and the event was starting soon. The foundation shades were limited and I only recall seeing about 5 different shades . She applied the foundation inconsistently on my face with my forehead not being covered at all and the lower half of my face was kind of covered. You could still see the majority of my scars as well. The foundation color also did not match my neck color.4. She then proceeded to do my eyebrows and was WAY to heavy and inexperienced with the pencil. I looked in the mirror and looked like a straight up man and my mom started laughing. I immediately asked her to take it off. (But if I hadnt she would have let me walked out looking like that.) She also applied lipstick on my face from the original tube it came out of and I didnt see any of the makeup being sanitized before or even after the makeup application.Throughout the entire experience, an instructor was not present with the students as advertised and didnt even come to evaluate my final look.Meanwhile, my mom got a smoky eye done and told the girl that it looked like she got punched in the face. The girl had also told my mom she really had no experience with make up prior to starting her application which was obvious as I watched her put setting powder on my mothers face before putting the foundation on. She also kept asking the student that was doing my face if what she was doing was correct and the only reason my mom ended up looking kind of decent was because the girl that was doing my face had to stop what she was doing to fix what the other student had done to my mothers face.I get that they are students, but this experience was beyond disappointing and its not their fault that they lack direction. Shame on the instructors. Thank god the lighting at the event we were going to was poor..Also, the makeup booth was stationed by the register.. And as we were getting serviced I could hear the cashier cursing. Super unprofessional.

They were nice and the atmosphere was pleasant but I will never come back for color or a haircut. I understand I paid less because these girls arent licensed yet and still learning, but during my visit, my hair stylists teacher didnt supervise her fully which resulted in my hair having hot roots and streaky. Now I personally do my hair on my own and my results are great but I wanted to be pampered by getting it done at a salon. I was told I could come back for a complimentary root touch up but this was waayyyy more than just a root touch up. I ended up redoing my own hair and it looks the way I wanted it. I just think its funny that Ive learned all my knowledge about hair care through YouTube and can get my color right but these girls that have been going to school for almost a year didnt seem too confident in their work.

I did learn how to color using their products. I feel cheated. Aveda is about being all natural but half of state board testing is about using chemicals. I learned more from YouTube. The kit that was issued to me needs more items like makeup, more mannequin heads, better mannequin stand, combs, better carry bag, towels, more nail applications. iPad is cool when the WiFi works. I’ve seen 5 instructors leave in the course of 7 months. I too have left because Aveda couldn’t accommodate my needs as a disabled veteran. Please try somewhere else.

I put up with long appointment times, was patient with mistakes and corrections, but have finally had enough.I went in to return to my natural color, and it was clear that the instructor Kim had no clue what she was talking about or how to proceed. Another instructor was starting to get the process going until Kim came over, and pulled the student and other instructor aside. Kim then came over and said they couldn’t do the appointment today. Clearly her ego was getting in the way - unfortunately at the expense of the student who was going to learn something new today.I aired my 8 years worth of grievances on my way out. They won’t be seeing anymore of me every 8-10 weeks.
