I have a good friend of mine who attends this establishment and who is very dedicated to his craft but due to unfortunate scamming circumstances it has turned to a complete nightmare. The owner rips off her students constantly and she continues to get away with these illegal activities. I will be contacting law enforcement very soon to put a end to this because individuals who are trying to get their education shouldnt have to go through these type of situations just to get a degree. I recommend people who are thinking about going to school here please find a reputable school to go to and receive the proper documentation this whole school is a scam!!!!!! This lady is known for scamming people just look her name and all the details will pop up about here. She claims to be a Christian but shes using Gods name to rob her students. Ask anyone who goes to CEI in 2021 they will back up what Im saying. I will be contacting the authorities and get this scamming scheme investigated.

If there was a way to leave no stars or negative stars I would. My brother has paid money out to this lady and her program and hasn’t received anything. He’s still waiting on a barber kit that has BEEN paid for yet he still hasn’t received! There was a trip scheduled for New Orleans that was cancelled which is understandable but the issues is the fact that she doesn’t want to refund the money paid!! You can’t talk to her, she doesn’t reply to messages, this is very unprofessional and unethical! Take your business elsewhere.

I was not actually able to attend this school due to personal reasons with family but I paid for one of the special promotions they were running and didn’t attend the orientation. I sent 3 emails to 3 different addresses prior to the orientation to let them know that I wasn’t going to attend and I never got any responses. I had to call 4 different times before I got a person to answer and was told that my file had to be reviewed and I would get a follow up call (and I never did) about the status and if the refund is approved then I would receive a check in the mail in 30 days. It’s been 30 days since my first phone call and each time they say the same thing and no one ever calls back and there’s no check in the mail. I’m now looking for a lawyer to get my situation handled since I’m not getting any results on my own. Maybe them having a potential lawsuit will keep them from giving others the runaround about their own money.

Not sure how this school is still open. Hours are never updated, hours are “lost”, equipment is always broken, clueless teachers, no where to park when you arrive, etc. honestly it’s a rip off and you would be better off paying to go to accredited school. You will waste valuable time and money if you attend CEI.

Very homey, laid back atmosphere. The students are ready and willing. Downside is sometimes theres not enough space or equipment.....its a non profit school so it not. Top notch or luxury.

My experience at CEI Hair School has been a very pleasant experience. The new location and the people at the school are very welcoming and generous. I look forward to going to school everyday to learn from the great instructors in place to teach the students. The teachers are very helpful, prompt, educated, and passionate about all the students here and teaching the material. In addition, the teachers makes it fun and are very creative with us retaining the information. Mz. Dee the owner of the school is very easy going & understanding. She’s very professional and give all her students direct access/contact to her & will answer any and all questions in a timely fashion..I highly recommend CEI Hair School!!!! Ive attended CEI for approximately 4 months, I’m studying to become a Master Cosmetologist. During my attendance I have gained so much knowledge and skill. The teachers are extremely informative. They take the time to make sure you are getting a clear understanding of the information by testing, review and practical application. I applaud the owner and staff. It’s been a great experience.

I am in the esthetics program and I enjoy coming to class...my teacher is amazing and .makes sure I understand my work when I am confused. I paid tuition and was able to start school right away. Due to covid I started late but there are plenty chances to make up hours. Our communication from teacher to student or just the staff is quick and effective. I have recommended this school to other woman who are serious about making a life change and who are dedicated to working diligently!

I love CEI. If you want a school that cares this is for you. I have done 3 programs. I passed 3 stateboards. I have seen Ms. Dee encourage and mentor so many people. She even helped me. Had I been smarter. I would have let her take me under her wings. This school is not prefect. It’s a system but the purpose is amazing. The people really do care. It’s whatever you make it. If I could give no stars I would!!! This is the worst school experience of my life. If you want to go somewhere and stress out this is for you. I literally had to figure out whether to withdraw and did. Daja the instructor is awesome, but the professionalism displayed from others is very distasteful. You get told one thing then told another and due to covid I wouldnt even stress myself out. You have to keep contacting them throughout the week to even be able to complete the required assignments because they have locks on them.

The director is unprofessional, confrontational and is running clients off leaving students to have to work harder to get hours in. There is no hot water in the morning! Your allowed to bring your own color in because the school can’t afford any.

I am a current Master Cosmologist student attending Cei school full-time Monday through Fridays. What can I say about CEI or the founder Ms. Dee this school found me really. I was walking and happened to see the school. I met Ms. Dee I saw her do more than MOST PEOPLE in the beauty community. I saw the school serve many, many homeless people. Giving out cuts for free. Giving out scholarships for people like me. Who wanted more but the money wasn’t there. I have done 3 programs with this school. Esthetics, nails and Barber. I passed all of my stateboards. If you want a school that makes you better with your community. Choose CEI and remember it’s whatever you make it. It’s your story so write carefully. The prices are amazing. Truly the school is ahead of it’s time. I would go anywhere else. They make sure you get license her.

I am the woman they use in their advertisements. I used to be a student there but the owner completely screwed me over. I was SO EXCITED when I started there and for several months after but in the end I ended up walking out after 11.5 months at the school because I refuse to give that woman anymore of my money. She charges everyone different prices. She tells you that you will be done in a certain amount of time if you come full time (maybe even sooner if you do all of her extra credit events and assignments -which I did). Then she waits until you are almost done and starts screwing with your hours so she can charge you more and keep you there longer. The students were paying her, the teachers were ALSO paying her (bc they were training to become licensed instructors), and the customers were paying too obviously. She claims to want to help people who cant afford these bigger schools but really shes preying on them. By the time you realize what shes doing, you already have too much time and money invested to go somewhere else. Be very careful about signing up for school here.Of course, the story will always be manipulated from the other end. I very rarely missed school like that. And you know thats true. I would love to see a copy of all the days I missed that dragged my time out there for at least TWO MONTHS before I finally walked out. MANY students who have gone to this school leave for very similar reasons. Its not a coincidence.

Walking I was greeted with welcoming smiles and everyone looked hard at work and books opened learning. Which I didn’t expect books as well I thought it’ll be more like the average schools I’ve seen but it book learning and hands on. Any ways a friend was getting a fade and it looked great and the barber make sure he met my friends need and we both walked out happy.

I visited the school today, for the first time. I thought Marcia was doing a pretty good job at the services that I requested (wash, blow dry, trim and flat iron). However, as she began to trim my ends, the owner came over, told her that she was spending way too much time on my hair, took the scissors, ask the stylist to step out of the way and began CUTTING my hair!! As she is cutting she says very bluntly, this is dead hair, why are you holding on to dead hair? This needs to go! She then accused the stylist of using Grease in my hair after she says she didnt! Marcia tried to diffuse the situation, by asking her how her New Year is going but the owner continued with her erratic behavior. She continued to publicly shame the stylist by telling her that she needed to work on her time management. I felt sorry for the stylist, as I thought she was very personable and showed a genuine interest in my hair. In the future I hope that the owner learns to treat her students with dignity and respect especially in the face of the clients (You never know who may be visiting your establishment). In the event that a stylist is NOT performing to your standards try to make it a teachable moment instead of reprimanding in public. Lets try to uplift one another!

Theyre unprofessional Instead of them being honest and telling me they couldnt do my daughters hair. The clerk at the front desk told me that they would be able to do it.they lied and told me they can do her hair that was at 3:47 p.m. today The clerk at the front desk told me that they open back up at 5 oclock she ensured that they would be able to do my daughter hair. So I Pay the $20 at the hair school.I had other employees telling me why would I want to choose a hairstyle That doesnt work for them. Then lady persuade me and my daughter to get hair done A different Way. I asked What she wanted different. I want to the hair store. Great boys cut from a student, I believe his name was Darryl. We got a line up and a low bald fade. The shop opens at 11am, we waited maybe 10 min for the guys to set up and we were out of there by noon. My barber was professional and efficient and my 11 Year old was very happy with his cut. I was observing the other barbers, they all seem as though they will be very successful.

They nurture the students at this school. I loved it when I attended the school and the owner is so relatable. Affordable as well 100 stars

This institution has been a blessing to me. I moved here 2 yrs ago unemployed w/ limited funds. CEI was referred to me and the services have helped me stay confident while job searching and eventually assisted me in getting my job (my haircut was on point and gave me the confidence I needed). The barber at the time gave me encouraging words and affirmation that Id get the job... And I did. I still come for services cause the atmosphere is the best and I enjoy seeing others learning and working towards their career. I dont think you all know how you help advance many lives. Terrible customer service the people are very rude. When i told them to give me my money back prior to any services they refused. The student is even now asking me what i want to do. I told her give me my money back she said its not an option. Ive been here 15 minutes moved to two chairs and still waiting for service.UPDATE: The owner of this shop did contact me and apologize for this experience. The way I was treated and the things that were said do not reflect her policies and standards concerning this location.

I work up the street from this place in the state office building & a co-worker & myself went to this location in Atlanta for a number of reasons. She wanted to inquire about loc re-twist and I need to finish only two classes before I can take the state board. I wanted to obtain info on the school & program since it was so close to where I work it wouldve been so convenient for me. Well, we walked inside (ignoring the rundown look) & every instructor & student present looked us dead in our faces and not one soul in the building greeted us or even spoke! STRIKE ONE!!! I was already ready to go after that but my co-worker is a bit more forgiving than me. After we stood there in the doorway without being greeted for about 3-4 minutes she (co-worker) walked up to an instructor who was just sitting on a stool (he saw us come in & was one of the ones who did not greet nor ask if we needed assistance). He IMMEDIATELY seemed agitated & before she could even get the entire question out he interrupted her by saying Oh, thats on the other side! (pointing behind him) You have to go over there for that. THIS is the classroom. (Like we were supposed to know). We then walk to the other side & guess what people.....NO ONE WAS OVER THERE!!! People just walked by & no one ever offered help. We waited for a while before we just walked out. The instructor was still in the same spot. No goodbye, come again, did you get what you needed? NOTHING. STRIKE TWO!!!! Reading the reviews I believe what the people say & judging by the responses directly from the owner I see why we were treated this way. This type of UNCOUTH & unprofessional behavior is why its so hard to patronize black owned businesses. How we were treated (like we were bothering them) was just wrong & ridiculous. If I could rate the company negative stars & warn people to STAY FAR FAR AWAY I would. Try Empire Beauty School!! They train to be professional AND can do so while upholding the state board rules & regulations. Im not sure why they have 4 stars...it should be a -10 just off my experience alone.

So CEI was running a special of $650 for their cosmetology program. I paid my tuition and upon seeing the school decided to withdrawal. Mind you you are eligible for a refund if you have never attended. I withdrew and was NEVER given a penny back after doing so. The owner is extremely unprofessional, and it shows by the looks of her business. To be honest, I’m not even sure if this school is accredited... So you should probably look into that as well. I was given the run around and told to dispute my charges after she lied and said it takes 30 days to receive my refund. First of all, who tells you to dispute a charge??? But anyways... upon her telling me to dispute the charge I find out that after 2 months there is nothing my bank can do about it. Long story short, this school is nothing short of a scam. All these 5 star reviews are fake and probably a form of extra credit that the students receive for doing so. Trust and believe every horror story you’ve read with poor reviews and take notice to how unprofessional she is when addressing them. I’d love to see what response/lies she has for this one. Extremely disappointed in this business. I am a mother of young children. The owner of CEI gave me a full scholarship and is allowing me to attend one day a week. I went to two other well known cosmetology school before CEI amd I owe quite a bit of money and wasnt able to finish due to lack of support and a schedule I couldnt live with.Without CEI and the compassion for my situation, I wouldnt be able to become a cosmetologist, which I very much want to be. I cant wait to graduate and be able to do beauty full time, and support myself doing what I am most drawn to.It is hard now, I have to maintain family, finances, and myself. I dont even get to practice much outside of school. When I am in school that one day a week though, I feel like I am doing what I love and look forward to that one day a week like I would a vacation. Thank goodness for CEI. I thought I would never get to get through school to do this career I look forward to and already love!

This is a debt free school that has amazingly dedicated staff and students from all. They service everyone in the community. Reviews are just words come in and experience the facility for yourself.

They will tell you they have over 1000 graduates from their program. Ask to see proof. They don’t even have a business license look it up on GA business license search before you spend a dime. The owner Deedria Clark/Harris/Williams has all types of mugshots google her before purchasing. The facility is extremely dirty and they are very disorganized. You will regret ever entertaining any offers they will provide. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. She has scammed military veterans out of thousands of dollars. She will do the same to you.

Wow. I was going to come here, but after hearing the owner justify bad behavior is very unprofessional. Thanks to the person who commented about their experience. My first thought was that the owner was having a bad day, but it goes beyond that. The OWNER actually came on here to JUSTIFY the behavior instead of working to win the person back. That put a bad taste in my mouth. Not good. You guys need to work on that and treat people better, if thats the case. Someone is trying to help you improve your services and just like you felt your student needed correction, why cant you take correction yourself? Are you too high and mighty to believe you need to do better too?

Students are now required to buy a $15 cei t shirt yet the teachers do not have to buy it and it is NOT in the contract you sign when you start your program. The tuition is cheap for a reason, you definitely get what you pay for! the laptop used to clock in doesnt work half the time so you have to email the owner to get your hours fixed , the teachers are not professional, and hours are taken from you if you dont take trash out and clean areas you didnt even use. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!

I had a terrible experience here on Tuesday Jan. 23, 2018. I waited my turn for over 30minutes and never once complained about it. I was then told to go to a certain chair where the young man was pleasantly waiting and started with my haircut. I explained how I wanted haircut and he began. Granted this is a school, I have had pleasant experiences before. Before I was actually done getting my haircut the instructor came up from behind and told me that it was about time I got up and that others were waiting. I was appalled he told me that I had a time limit and thats the way it was. I addressed the manager and was not satisfied and the issue wasnt addressed. As a business owner you want to keep my business you should try and satisfy your customers. Crazy place.

I have bern here Several times. Wash n Press, Sew-in, Trim. These are Students and as a whole they do Excellent work! Much better than any of the other schools within a 35 mile radius

If you care about yourself DO NOT attend this school. Theres no type of organization here! All they want is your money and the sad part is all you are really paying for is the hours required by the state in order to get licensed not an education. They claim to offer scholarships but when you ask about them you are given the run around or told they are not being offered at this time. Save yourself the headache there are schools out there that actually care unlike this one.

Point blank period. The young lady messed my hair up. I asked to have my hair dyed, ends cut and soft finger waves for my style. When the young lady figured out that she aint know what she was doing I was passed to another stylist who also didnt know what she was doing. So finally 3 hours later due to a rewash another young lady skinny dark skinned with glasses ended up pulling it off with the moose and I loved it. Let me let it be known I have natural hair.. Gotta do better

I go there all the time. College students gets 2 bucks off but I always tip because they’re pretty talented for a bunch of students. Only thing I wish they had was a display of the times they close the shops for class so I can get in there before then. I’ve missed a few cuts because of it but I’m not upset.

It’s crazy how she promised to issue us a refund after thirty days from the requested refund date which was October 4, 2018. It is now November 12 and you think we heard anything about a refund? Hell nah. We have emailed and called and get no response. I have threatened to take it to court and still no budge. As of now, my wife and I are tired of going back and forth with these people and this “business”.Update - these lies are ridiculous, nobody was “waiting” on anything. I have the emails that says you will refund us back in 30 days from the day of request and Another email that says you will be only refunding $75 back TOTAL from $1100. It honestly didn’t even have to get this far. This is not how we like to do business by leaving negative reviews on black owned companies. Nobody has time for all of these games, and if my wife still wants to sue you, that’s her option. The same as it was your option to refund us an equitable amount and you chose the latter. Which is now fine because we all have options. I sent you an email twice yesterday and received auto replies back from the same email you use and called the school multiple times. There’s no reason why I needed to come here to get a response from y’all.

This school is a scam. They claim to have such good state board passing rates but dont ever tell you how many students actually sign up and graduate. you can find the owners mugshot on google, she isnt professional.

I have no idea how this rating came to be. I am a real person, but I never visited this place or even had a reason to. Im not even really sure what this place is. I simply received an email about a response to a review I supposedly had written. Do not believe everything you read people.

At times, the wait can be overwhelmingly long because not enough students to serve clients. I normally give myself adequate time just in case; once seated, I normally walk out satisfied with the cut requested. Overall, I am please with the service. For the price, its worth rhe wait. Remember that these are students in training.

It’s sad when you send your child to get her hair done an she looks the same way she did when she left home. My daughter went to get her hair wash pressed an trim the girl that did her hair did not trim her hair at all. I read the reviews an I keep seeing from the instructor is state board this an state board that well that student not going to be ready for state board. If you not there to do hair but need so many hours to run a salon get the most out of the class. No one answering the phone to hear my concern I just want my girl hair trimmed she paid for it wit her hard earn money.

Note every time someone leaves a bad review the owner responds by saying its fake. The owner of this school used to own cutting edge barber institute in clayton county it even ended up on the news because Deedria lied to veterans trying to get an education & just took their money. makes you wonder why that school isnt open anymore.........

As a recent graduate this school was a true blessing. I was able to complete 1500 hours of service in 9 months. All the instructors are very knowledgeable and have tons of experience. They teach entrepreneurship as well as technique and have become mentors to me. Miss Dee does a lot to help her students succeed and knows her stuff. Mr. L.J and Mr. Sutton are two of the best with teaching technique and theory and I cant forget the all-knowing Mr. Chaz. Thanks CEI family.

It was going well until the instructor cut most of my hair off. Challenging attitude - quote you cut hair... not customer friendly. I said nothing. Didnt want walk out bald. Just another visitor to the city and will not be coming back. Student Barber did his part. *****

I had good experiences here. The instructors, Ms Yolanda and Ms Samantha, are first rate. I always feel like Im in good hands with the students who seem to use their teachers wisely and ask questions. I go here for the basics.

This is my third time going to this beauty school and I must say the first time was horrible. I tried to give it the benefit of a doubt and go a second time. The second time the students by the name Sebastian was amazing. He washed and condition my hair he talked to me about my hair health and my silk press was banging. Now, my third time I didnt get Sebastian, I got a wonderful young lady named Key. This time I asked for a permanent color and silk press. The problem with this visit is not the students its the instructor Dee. Key advised her that the color did not take, I have dark patches all over and even my crown has dark patches. The instructor Dee just said it was OK and had her deep condition my hair. Now after being in the beauty school for 2hrs. Dee the instructor had to finish my silk press and what a hot mess it is. She rushed through it and put way to much product in my hair. My hair feels like crap and I know she could see how jacked up my color is. Dee the instructor kept stopping and rushed to get me out the chair. I didnt have time to complain because I had already spent 3hrs there and I had to go to work. Trust me I wont be back! I could have done better myself. I give it a major thumbs down. On top of that this mess of a hair style cost me $40.

$5 for a cut plus tip. Pleased with the cut I got. Could be more sanitary. Id go back.

CEI has some of the best instructors who are knowledgeable about the curriculum needed to become a licensed barber or cosmetologist. They all have extensive experience in the classroom and real world that will allow you to have to the edge you need to be successful in the industry.

Don’t attend this school if you plan on changing your mind bc the lady Deedria at the school will not give you your money back my daughter never received hers she just gave her the one around.

The owner scammed veterans at another school she owned in jonesboro GA. do your research it was cutting edge barber institute. shes even on ripoffreport, be careful!

I enjoyed my training at CEI. I was always taught with professionalism. Each of the instructors were vital to my training. I was taught how to service my clients and never to let a client leave unhappy.

Very unprofessional stylist that dont want to listen to the client about how the client knows whats best for styling their own hair. The stylist only wanted to style my hair the way she was used to styling other hair that she has done.
